Lineage switch (LS) refers to the immunophenotypic transformation of one leukemia lineage to another (ie, lymphoid to myeloid) with retention of baseline genetics. This phenomenon was originally observed in infants with B-lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) with rearrangements following chemotherapy, but is now increasingly being observed as a form of immune escape following targeted therapies among children and adults with B-ALL with and without rearrangements. In this report, we present two cases of adolescents with B-ALL harboring rearrangements (Philadelphia-like phenotype) who developed LS to acute myeloid leukemia following CD19 targeted therapy.

Background: Patient Safety and Quality Improvement (PSQI) are key components of graduate medical training, as detailed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), with specific requirements that residents participate in experiential learning in PSQI during residency training. This study aimed to analyze the breadth of available and required PSQI educational experiences across dermatology residency programs in the United States.
Objectives/methods: The objective of this study was to characterize the scope of PSQI educational experiences across dermatology residency programs.

Background: There is currently no consensus on the optimal treatment for Dupuytren contracture. Prior meta-analyses have been limited by suboptimal data synthesis methodologies. We conducted an updated evidence review comparing the effectiveness and safety of percutaneous needle fasciotomy (PNF), collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH), and limited fasciectomy (LF) using the GRADE approach.

Objective: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is associated with complications during pregnancy and can negatively influence maternal outcomes. Our study aimed to determine the prevalence and predictors of maternal morbidity among participants enrolled in an eight-site SCD Implementation Consortium (SCDIC) registry.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of female registry participants, aged 15-45 years, with a confirmed diagnosis of SCD.

First-generation college students" (FGCS) are at risk for suffering from mental health issues, which have direct implication for their retention and academic success. Past investigators consistently find that college students are more likely to discuss mental health issues with their peers than with college personnel. The first step in peer-to-peer mental health support is screening students on campus to gain a baseline understanding of how they respond when encountering a peer in mental distress.

Background: Evidence regarding the effect of long-term exposure to particulate matter (PM) 2.5 and comorbid cancer and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality is limited.
Objectives: In this study, the author report the association between long-term exposure to PM 2.

Senescence, caused by cell-cycle arrest, is a hallmark of aging. Senescence has also been described in embryogenesis, wound healing, and acute injuries. Sepsis is characterized by a dysregulated host response to infection, leading to organ dysfunction and mortality.

Heart development is a complex spatiotemporal process involving a series of orchestrated morphogenic events that result in the formation of an efficient pumping organ. How posttranslational mechanisms regulate heart development remains poorly understood. Therefore, we investigate how neddylation, the attachment of NEDD8 to target proteins, coordinates cardiogenesis.

Exosomes are microsize vesicles secreted by nearly all cells to the extracellular space. The vesicles transport cell signaling and communicate with other cells. Ultracentrifugation is the standard method to isolate exosomes from culture media or body fluid.

Objective: Mouse models of hindlimb ischemia (HLI) are used to study peripheral arterial disease and evaluate novel therapies. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is a noninvasive perfusion measurement technique that is increasingly being employed in these models. The objective of this study was to evaluate two models of severe HLI by CEUS to characterize perfusion recovery and muscle perfusion patterns.

The specialties of disaster and counterterrorism medicine have continued to evolve based on the demand for medical responses to these unique and demanding environments. These medical responses are relevant to all medical specialties; however, surgeons play a particularly critical role. This is evidenced from decades of humanitarian and military surgical involvement.

Background: Glucose levels obtained on the day of surgery may be predictive of complications following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Established glucose thresholds for TKA are either nonspecific or have low predictive power. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to create data-driven hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and same-day glucose thresholds associated with varying risks of 90-day major and surgical site infection (SSI) complications following TKA.

Two themes are coming to the forefront in this decade: Cognitive impairment of an aging population and the quantum leap in developing artificial intelligence (AI). Both can be described as growing exponentially and presenting serious challenges. Although many questions have been addressed about the dangers of AI, we want to go beyond the fearful aspects of this topic and focus on the possible contribution of AI to solve the problem of chronic disorders of the elderly leading to cognitive impairment, like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Lewy body dementia.

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of daily contact features on the prevalence of common mental disorders (CMDs) in Taiwan from 2000 to 2015. Data from the Taiwan Social Change Survey for 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015 were used to examine the relationship between the number and level of familiarity with daily social contacts with the probable CMDs (determined by score of ≥ 3 on a 12-item Chinese Health Questionnaire). Descriptive statistics and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to assess the association.

Owing to their continuous evolution, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants of concern (VOCs) display disparate pathogenicity in mouse models. Omicron and its sublineages have been dominant worldwide. Compared to pre-Omicron VOCs, early Omicron subvariants reportedly cause attenuated disease in human ACE-2-expressing mice (K18-hACE-2).

Three amylin receptors (AMYRs) mediate the metabolic actions of the peptide hormone amylin and are drug targets for diabetes and obesity. AMYR, AMYR, and AMYR are heterodimers consisting of the G protein-coupled calcitonin receptor (CTR) paired with a RAMP1, -2, or -3 accessory subunit, respectively, which increases amylin potency. Little is known about AMYR subunit interactions and their role in signaling.
