Background: Crohn's disease and irritable bowel syndrome may both cause abdominal pain and diarrhea. Irritable bowel syndrome not only is an important differential diagnosis for Crohn's disease but also occurs in one out of three patients with Crohn's disease in remission in parallel. If not adequately diagnosed and treated, additional functional symptoms such as fatigue and/or muscle pain may develop, indicating a more severe course.

Background: Recent research indicates a role of gut microbiota in development and progression of life-threatening diseases such as cancer. Carcinomas of the biliary ducts, the so-called cholangiocarcinomas, are known for their aggressive tumor biology, implying poor prognosis of affected patients. An impact of the gut microbiota on cholangiocarcinoma development and progression is plausible due to the enterohepatic circulation and is therefore the subject of scientific debate, however evidence is still lacking.

Background: The Centiloid framework was developed to harmonize amyloid-PET quantification across radiotracers and processing pipelines to facilitate data sharing and merging; it is now widely used across research and clinical trials. As we just completed the quantification of 10,361 amyloid-PET scans from the largest "real-world" study of amyloid-PET (IDEAS) and are about to release the data, we aimed to compare the distribution of IDEAS Centiloid values with other available datasets.
Method: In IDEAS, amyloid scans were acquired across 343 facilities and centrally processed at UCSF using a PET-only pipeline.

Background: Florzolotau (APN-1607) tau-PET has shown distinct patterns of binding in patients with AD and 4-repeat tauopathies. We aimed to establish disease-specific tau covariance patterns in AD and PSP/CBS and validate them as user-independent quantitative biomarkers for reference-region-free evaluation of tau-PET in an independent clinical cohort.
Method: We analyzed Florzolotau PET data from four different cohorts.

Tabular data, spreadsheets organized in rows and columns, are ubiquitous across scientific fields, from biomedicine to particle physics to economics and climate science. The fundamental prediction task of filling in missing values of a label column based on the rest of the columns is essential for various applications as diverse as biomedical risk models, drug discovery and materials science. Although deep learning has revolutionized learning from raw data and led to numerous high-profile success stories, gradient-boosted decision trees have dominated tabular data for the past 20 years.

Acute stroke management is time-sensitive, making time data crucial for both research and quality management. However, these time data are often not reliably captured in routine clinical practice. In this proof-of-concept study we analysed image-based time data automatically captured in the DICOM format.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) can impair motor, sensory, and autonomic function. The formation of the glial scar comprises protective as well as inhibitory neurite outgrowth properties operated by the deposition of chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPG). Chondroitinase ABC (ChABC) can degrade CSPG and foster neuroaxonal plasticity as a therapeutic approach to restore locomotor function after SCI.

The perioperative interplay between blood pressure, vasopressors, and macrocirculation is well established. However, in the context of free flap surgery, the potential impact of these factors on microvascular flow remains elusive. The aim was to evaluate the impact of norepinephrine administration on the microcirculation of free flaps.

: To validate the automated quantification of cardiac chamber volumes and myocardial mass on non-contrast chest CT using cardiac MR (CMR) as a reference. : We retrospectively included 53 consecutive patients who received non-contrast chest CT and CMR within three weeks. A deep learning model created cardiac segmentations on axial soft-tissue reconstructions from CT, covering all four cardiac chambers and the left ventricular myocardium.

Objectives: Multiple studies have described the onset and variable incidence of postoperative acute vertigo following cochlear implant (CI) surgery. However, postoperative imaging has not yet been specifically evaluated with special focus on vertigo. The aim of this study is to assess the incidence and causes of new-onset, acute postoperative vertigo following CI surgery using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).

Objectives: This clinical study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of digital and conventional implant impressions in a fully edentulous maxilla and mandible.
Methods: A 53-year-old edentulous patient with four maxillary and two mandibular implants was selected. Ten intraoral scans (IOS) and a conventional impression per jaw were taken.

Background: The histone gene H2AX and its phosphorylated protein γ-H2AX play a crucial role in the DNA damage response. This study investigates the expression of H2AX mRNA and its phosphorylated γ-H2AX protein in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC), its association with distinct biological pathway alterations and its potential as a biomarker.
Materials And Methods: Expression of H2AX mRNA in 76 OPSCC from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort was analyzed.

Background: Up to now, the optimal duration of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) has not been evaluated in prospective studies. However, current clinical practice requires decisions to be made regarding the duration of ICI in complete responders.
Material And Methods: A survey was sent to 80 DeCOG skin cancer centers to assess how decisions are made on treatment duration of ICI in melanoma after having reached complete response, and staging intervals after ICI discontinuation.

Background: The noise levels in intensive care units usually exceed the recommended limits in (inter)national recommendations. Such noise levels can affect both the recovery of intensive care patients and the performance of staff. The aim of this study was to reduce ward-based noise levels in three intensive care units (anesthesiological, neurological, and neonatological).

Serotonin transporter (SERT) availability was assessed using 2 tracers, [C],-dimethyl-2-(2-amino-4-cyanophenylthio)benzylamine ([C]DASB) and [C],-dimethyl-2-(2-amino-4-fluoromethylphenylthio)benzylamine) ([C]MADAM), in independent cohorts of patients and controls. This study aimed to independently confirm whether SERT remains intact in nondepressed individuals with early-stage Parkinson disease (PD), because the use of diverse methodologies could potentially yield disparate results. Seventeen PD patients (5 women and 12 men; age, 64 ± 7 y; Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale motor score, 23 ± 5; Beck Depression Inventory score, 5 ± 4) and 20 age- and sex-matched healthy controls underwent [C]MADAM PET at Karolinska Institutet.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCC) is a rare malignant liver tumor with limited therapeutic advancements. Despite its increasing global incidence knowledge of treatment options remains stagnant, leading to poor five-year patient survival rates and high recurrence post-surgery. ALDH1A1, a member of the ALDH superfamily, is associated with cancer stem cells and has conflicting reports regarding its prognostic role in iCC.
