Dental Implant Placement in Focal Osteoporotic Bone Marrow Defect: a Case Report and Treatment Recommendations.

Background: Focal osteoporotic bone marrow defect is asymptomatic radiolucent area usually discovered incidentally during radiographic examination of the jaws. This bone condition can lead to clinical complications during dental implant placement or during osseointegration process.

Methods: A 54-year-old woman was referred to private dental implant centre for a dental implant rehabilitation treatment in May 17, 2016.

Comparison of Classifications and Indexes for Extraction Socket and Implant Supported Restoration in the Aesthetic Zone: a Systematic Review.

Objectives: The primary objective of the present systematic review is to test the hypothesis - the revision of the complexity of the extraction sockets morphology classifications will reveal the most important parameters for implant aesthetic and functional success in case of immediate dental implant placement in aesthetic zone. The secondary objective is to revise the most important parameters of aesthetic indexes created for implant-supported restoration in aesthetic zone.

Material And Methods: MEDLINE (PubMed) and Cochrane Library search in combination with hand-search of relevant journals was conducted including human studies published in English between 1 January 2005 and 1 February 2022.

Evaluation of Postoperative Pain and Discomfort in Patients Undergoing Surgical Exposure of Impacted Maxillary Canines.

Objectives: The purpose of the retrospective study was to evaluate pain and discomfort related to surgical exposure according to initial localization of impacted maxillary canines.

Material And Methods: Pre-treatment cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data and discomfort evaluation questionnaire of 25 patients (17 female, 8 male), treated with combined surgical-orthodontic approach was analysed. The questions included: level of discomfort during surgery (0 to 10), level of pain (0 to 10) in the evening, one, two days and a week after surgery.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease with neuroleptic malignant syndrome.

Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare rapidly progressive fatal neurodegenerative disease. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a complication of antipsychotic medications which may be used to treat neuropsychiatric symptoms of CJD. We present a case of a 51‐year‐ old woman with CJD who developed NMS after being prescribed quetiapine.

Serelaxin Improves Regional Myocardial Function in Experimental Heart Failure: An In Vivo Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Study.

Background Animal studies demonstrated that serelaxin lessens fibrosis in heart failure. This study assessed its effect on myocardial deformation using cardiac magnetic resonance and elucidated its relationship to gene regulation and histology in a mouse heart failure model. Methods and Results C57BL/6J mice were subjected to SHAM (n=4) or transverse aortic constriction (TAC).

Challenges and needs of informal caregivers in elderly care: Qualitative research in four European countries, the TRACE project.

Background: Providing informal care may affects caregivers' life in different ways. Determining the needs of caregivers and supporting them can improve both the quality of life of the caregivers, as well as the elderly they take care of.

Objective: To explore the experiences and needs of the informal caregivers in four countries.

Is training for informal caregivers and their older persons helpful? A systematic review.

Background: The steady increase in the number of people suffering from chronic diseases and increasing life expectancy raises new demands on health care. At the same time, the need for informal caregivers is increasing. This study aims to perform a systematic review of the methodologies used to identify effect of different types of training on informal caregivers and their older persons.

Role of Multimodal Analgesia in the Evolving Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Pathways.

Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) are specially designed multimodal perioperative care pathways which are intended to attain and improve rapid recovery after surgical interventions by supporting preoperative organ function and attenuating the stress response caused by surgical trauma, allowing patients to get back to normal activities as soon as possible. Evidence-based protocols are prepared and published to implement the conception of ERAS. Although they vary amongst health care institutions, the main three elements (preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative components) remain the cornerstones.

Oncology nurses' perceptions of obstacles and role at the end-of-life care: cross sectional survey.

Background: Major obstacles exist in the care of patients at the end of life: lack of time, poor or inadequate communication, and lack of knowledge in providing care. Three possible nursing roles in care decision-making were investigated: Information Broker, Supporter, and Advocate. The purpose of this study was to examine obstacles faced by oncology nurses in providing end-of-life (EOL) care and to examine roles of nurses in providing care.

An optimal ultrasonographic diagnostic test for early gout: A prospective controlled study.

Objective To identify the optimal sites for classification of early gout by ultrasonography. Methods Sixty patients with monosodium urate crystal-proven gout (25 with early gout [≤2-year symptom duration], 35 with late gout [>2-year symptom duration], and 36 normouricemic healthy controls) from one centre were prospectively evaluated. Standardized blinded ultrasound examination of 36 joints and the triceps and patellar tendons was performed to identify tophi and the double contour (DC) sign.

Are advance directives helpful for good end of life decision making: a cross sectional survey of health professionals.

Background: This paper joins the debate over changes in the role of health professionals when applying advance directives to manage the decision-making process at the end of life care. Issues in relation to advance directives occur in clinical units in Lithuania; however, it remains one of the few countries in the European Union (EU) where the discussion on advance directives is not included in the health-care policy-making agenda. To encourage the discussion of advance directives, a study was designed to examine health professionals' understanding and preferences related to advance directives.

Orthodontic treatment in periodontitis-susceptible subjects: a systematic literature review.

The aim is to evaluate the literature for clinical scientific data on possible effects of orthodontic treatment on periodontal status in periodontitis-susceptible subjects. A systematic literature review was performed on studies in English using PubMed, MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library central databases (1965-2014).
