Evaluation of the Effect of Musical Perception Activities on Speech Perception in Adult Cochlear Implant Users.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate clinical musical perception, analyze the relationship between speech recognition and music perception, and investigate the effects of a three-month musical perception activities on these parameters in adult cochlear implant (CI) users with post-lingual hearing loss.

Methods: Free-field hearing and speech tests in a quiet environment, the Turkish matrix test, and the Turkish version of the clinical assessment of musical perception test were performed on 18 adult unilateral CI users before and after the three-month music training. Results were compared with those of 18 healthy controls.

Terra firma-forme dermatosis (TFFD), also known as Duncan' dirty dermatosis, is a keratinization disorder that is characterized by velvety, dark brown-blackish patches, and plaques and is not associated with systemic diseases. The lesions rarely show a verrucous or reticulate appearance. Especially, in children and adolescents, neck, face, torso, and ankles are the most frequently affected areas.

Prospective analysis of febrile neutropenia patients with bacteraemia: the results of an international ID-IRI study.

Objectives: Bacteraemia during the course of neutropenia is often fatal. We aimed to identify factors predicting mortality to have an insight into better clinical management.

Methods: The study has a prospective, observational design using pooled data from febrile neutropenia patients with bacteraemia in 41 centres in 16 countries.

Since there are no data on this practice in the literature, we have no idea how often it is used. However, it should be noted that this application is used in some centers due to the cumulative neurotoxicity of oxaliplatin but there are insufficient data in the literature on its efficacy.

Organizing pneumonia following ocrelizumab use in a patient with multiple sclerosis: A case report.

Ocrelizumab is an anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of primary progressive and relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). Although cases of organizing pneumonia have been reported in association with other antiCD20 agents such as rituximab, there is insufficient data in the literature on Ocrelizumab-associated lung involvement. Herein, we present a case of organizing pneumonia in a 37-year-old female patient with multiple sclerosis following Ocrelizumab use.

Background: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare and severe disease characterized by uncontrolled activation and dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway and development of thrombotic microangiopathy. Eculizumab, which is used as a first-line therapy in aHUS, blocks the formation of C5 convertase and inhibits the formation of the terminal membrane attack complex. It is known that treatment with eculizumab increases the risk of meningococcal disease by 1000-2000-fold.
