Introduction: In the adjuvant treatment of low-risk stage III colon cancer treated surgically, 3 months of CAPOX followed by 3 months of capecitabine is not a common clinical practice. Since there are no data on this practice in the literature, we have no idea how often it is used. However, it should be noted that this application is used in some centers due to the cumulative neurotoxicity of oxaliplatin but there are insufficient data in the literature on its efficacy.

Background And Purpose:

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are highly expressed in the brain and alterations in their levels have been shown in many neurodegenerative disorders. Evidence has shown that lncRNAs play role in the onset and progression of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and it can be used as a potential therapeutic target. Our purpose was to detect whether the serum levels of four candidate lncRNAs H19, GAS5, HAR1B and LINC01783 are related with the clinical findings and treatment of PD or not.

Article Synopsis
  • Hearing loss (HL) is a common condition linked to over 200 different genes, prompting researchers to use exome and genome sequencing to find genetic causes in 322 families from Asia and Latin America.
  • The study found that variants in the GJB2 gene were present in 58 participants, but these were excluded from further analysis, as were 38 families with syndromic findings, leading to a focus on 212 families for further genetic testing.
  • Exome sequencing revealed 78 variants related to HL in 71 families, with a combined detection rate of 40% using both exome and genome sequencing, the latter proving effective in identifying difficult-to-detect variants in specific genetic regions.

  • - The study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of adding pertuzumab (P) to trastuzumab (H) and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT) in achieving pathological complete response (pCR) in HER2+ breast cancer patients.
  • - Involving 1,528 female patients, the results showed that those receiving NCT-HP had a significantly higher pCR rate (66.4%) compared to those on NCT-H (56.8%) and fewer relapses (4.5% vs. 12.2%).
  • - Key factors predicting pCR included invasive ductal carcinoma type, lower tumor grades, and the use of paclitaxel, reinforcing the benefits of adding pertuzumab in

Objective: Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are a common arrhythmic condition. The first approach in patients with symptomatic and frequent PVC is medical treatment, primarily beta-blockers (BB) or calcium channel blockers (CCB), but it is still unclear which of the two should be chosen. This study investigated which drug treatment would be beneficial according to patient and electrocardiography (ECG) characteristics in patients with idiopathic PVC.

Objective: Many human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B alleles are associated with an increased risk of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) progression; however, their distribution varies among different racial/ethnic groups. Abacavir used in the treatment of AIDS significantly increases the risk of hypersensitivity reactions in patients with HLA-B*57:01. The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of HIV-associated HLA-B subgroups (high and low resolution) and HLA-B*57:01 associated with Abacavir sensitivity in Turkiye.

Background: Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) is a rare and severe disease characterized by uncontrolled activation and dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway and development of thrombotic microangiopathy. Eculizumab, which is used as a first-line therapy in aHUS, blocks the formation of C5 convertase and inhibits the formation of the terminal membrane attack complex. It is known that treatment with eculizumab increases the risk of meningococcal disease by 1000-2000-fold.

Objective: Platelet aggregation tests and the analysis of thromboxane A2 metabolites [serum thromboxane B2 (TXB2) and urine 11-dehydro TXB2] are used to evaluate the efficacy of aspirin. In myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), the immature platelet fraction (IPF) rises due to enhanced platelet turnover, and this has been thought to reduce the efficacy of aspirin. This phenomenon is overcome by the recommendation of aspirin intake in divided doses.
