Background: This study aims to discuss management strategies regarding phytobezoar induced ileus based upon clinical results.

Methods: In the present study, between December 2012 and December 2018, a total of 25 patients who were diagnosed with phytobezoar were evaluated retrospectively. Patients who had acute mechanical intestinal obstruction due to phytobezoars at different segments of gastrointestinal (GI) tract were included in this study.

Urticaria, also known as hives among people, is a very common disease characterized by erythematous, edematous, itchy, and transient plaques that involve skin and mucous membranes. Many factors such as infections, medicines, food, psychogenic factors, and respiratory allergens are accused of etiology, but sometimes, it is idiopathic.

A venous air embolism can occur as a result of circumstances that include blunt head or chest trauma, thoracentesis, arterial catheterization, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, and Caisson disease. The formation of a venous air embolism requires an air source, interaction between the air source and the vessel, and a pressure gradient supporting air migration into the vessel. Air enters through the impaired venous structure and travels to the right side of the heart and the pulmonary arteries, and depending on the amount of air, may occasionally be fatal.

The "ethics committee approval" required to conduct clinical trials can be difficult to obtain for researchers due to problems with their time management, evaluating clinical investigations as a routine process as a part of their work; confusions regarding the concepts of treatment, interference, research and intervention, and sometimes due to lack of knowledge. Ethics committee approval process in our country is discussed by informing the investigators who want to conduct clinical research, about the issues that should be considered in accordance with the current legal regulations related to the clinical trials involving human volunteers.

Open repair of a type Ia endoleak with a giant abdominal aortic aneurysm sac.

Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has been widely accepted as a safe and effective treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysm. Endoleaks are the most common complication after EVAR and require urgent interventions. Usually endoleaks can be treated with endovascular procedures using a variety of techniques.

Objective: The early-period results of our technique for performing a medial biplanar retrotubercle open-wedge proximal tibial osteotomy for the surgical treatment of varus gonarthrosis were evaluated and compared with those reported in the literature.

Methods: The clinical and radiological results of a medial biplanar retrotubercle open-wedge proximal tibial osteotomy performed on 23 knees in 22 patients with medial gonarthrosis with varus alignment were analyzed.

Objective: The molecular events underlying ear development involve numerous regulatory molecules; however, the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) has not been explored in patients with ear atresia. Here, we aimed to investigate the expressions of 20-22 nucleotide noncoding RNAs.

Methods: We selected 12 miRNAs that function to control post-transcriptional gene expression in different pathways, including apoptosis, angiogenesis, and chondrogenesis.

Sciatic nerve injury following analgesic drug injection in rats: A histopathological examination.

Objective: Sciatic nerve neuropathy can be observed following intramuscular gluteal injections. The histopathological examination of sciatic nerve damage following intramuscular injection in the gluteal region for acute pain treatment is not feasible in humans due to the inability to dissect and examine the nerve tissue. To overcome this issue, we used a rat model for demonstrating damage to the sciatic nerve tissue after the application of commonly used drug injections.

Objective: The recurring inflammation of mucosal layer of intestines is known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which can be accompanied by nutritional deficiencies. The association between inflammation and coronary artery disease has been established. Coronary flow reserve (CFR), which is an established method to evaluate combined microvascular and epicardial flow of coronary arteries, can be assessed by using transthoracic echocardiography.

Objective: The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study is a prospective cohort study that collects data on social, environmental, and individual risk factors and chronic diseases among residents of 25 countries in the range of 35 to 70 years of age, living in rural and urban areas. The PURE study is directed by the Population Health Research Institute of McMaster University in Canada. In Turkey, the study is conducted by the Metabolic Syndrome Society.

Association of dairy intake with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 21 countries from five continents (PURE): a prospective cohort study.

Background: Dietary guidelines recommend minimising consumption of whole-fat dairy products, as they are a source of saturated fats and presumed to adversely affect blood lipids and increase cardiovascular disease and mortality. Evidence for this contention is sparse and few data for the effects of dairy consumption on health are available from low-income and middle-income countries. Therefore, we aimed to assess the associations between total dairy and specific types of dairy products with mortality and major cardiovascular disease.

Postpartum urinary retention: Evaluation of risk factors.

Objective: Postpartum urinary retention means the absence of spontaneous micturition more than 6 hours after birth or when residual volume after urination is less than 150 cc. If neglected, postpartum urinary retention may result in bladder denervation and detrusor muscle weakness requiring intermittent catheterization or permanent micturition dysfunction. Our goal was to identify the possible risk factors for postpartum urinary retention.

Radiological and endoscopic imaging methods in the management of cystic pancreatic neoplasms.

The management of cystic pancreatic neoplasm (CPN) is a clinical dilemma because of its clinical presentations and malignant potential. Surgery is the best treatment choice ; however, pancreatic surgery still has high complication rates, even in experienced centers. Imaging methods have a definitive role in the management of CPN and computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and endoscopic ultrasonography are the preferred methods since they can reveal the suspicious features for malignancy.
