Background Context: Low back pain (LBP) among children and adolescents is a growing global concern. Disc degeneration (DD) is considered a significant factor in the clinical symptom of LBP. Both LBP and DD become more prevalent as adolescents transition into emerging adulthood.

Despite the introduction of new evidence and innovative technologies aimed at addressing the approach and care of severe bone loss in rTKA, there is no single document that systematically incorporates these newer surgical approaches. Therefore, a comprehensive review of the treatment of severe bone loss in rTKA is necessary.

Background: Allograft tendons are perceived to have a high ACL graft failure rate in primary anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR). Historical series may be biased by graft processing methods that degrade the biomechanical properties of donor tendons such as irradiation. Supercritical carbon dioxide (SCCO) is a validated method of terminally sterilizing biomaterials at physiological temperatures without irradiation, but in vivo use of SCCO-processed tendon allografts for primary ACLR has not been reported to date.

Background: Surgery, needle fasciotomy, and collagenase injection are used to treat Dupuytren contracture. The treatment decision requires balancing initial morbidity and costs of surgery against its potential long-term benefits over needle fasciotomy and collagenase.
Objective: To compare the effectiveness of surgery, needle fasciotomy, and collagenase injection at 3 months and 2 years (secondary time points of the trial).

Background: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a successful joint-preserving procedure for the treatment of medial compartment osteoarthritis. Long-term survivorship of HTO ranges from 40% to 85%. There are consistent factors that predict failure.

Introduction: Ultra-minimally invasive ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release is a surgical procedure for treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome that is associated with less surgery-related morbidity and faster recovery than open surgery. The objectives of this study were to describe how the surgical technique may be acquired and to report the results obtained after implementation in a clinical setting.
Methods: The study consisted of two parts: 1) description of the surgical skills needed to perform the procedure, and 2) evaluation of the procedure in the first ten consecutively operated patients after 12-month follow-up using questionnaires and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Background: Despite the extensive literature on postoperative spinal wound infection, yet to our knowledge, there is no previous study containing combined data from several sites in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This study aimed to estimate the incidence of surgical site infection (SSI) following spine surgeries, its associated factors, and management.
Methods: In a retrospective cohort study, medical records of all patients ≥18 years of age who underwent spine surgery at 6 tertiary referral centers in the MENA region between January 2014 to December 2019 (n=5,872) were examined to collect data on the following: (1) Patient's characteristics, (2) Disease characteristics, (3) Spine surgery approach, and (4) Characteristics of Postoperative SSI.

Supratentorial cortical ependymoma is an extremely rare malignancy in the pediatric population, especially in very young age groups. Most of the reported cases present with dramatic neurological symptoms like seizures and sudden onset hemiplegia. We hereby report a case of anaplastic supra-cortical ependymoma in a 13-month-old male child, with subtle seizures for four weeks.

Study Design: Cross-sectional survey.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate work-related neck pain among AO spine surgeons in different regions by estimating its prevalence, predictors, consequences, and management methods.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 411 spine surgeon members of AO spine was conducted during March-May 2021, using the Modified Nordic Questionnaire and the Neck Disability Index.

Objectives: We compared an ultra-minimally invasive ultrasound-guided percutaneous A1 pulley release and a classic open surgery for trigger digit.
Methods: We designed a single-center randomized control trial. All cases had clinical signs of primary grade III trigger digit.

Purpose: Joint dynamics following Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) may influence patient-reported outcome. Simulations allow many knee alignment approaches to a single patient to be considered prior to surgery. The simulated kinematics can be matched to patient-reported outcome to predict kinematic patterns most likely to give the best outcome.

Disc changes on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) have been reported in up to 44% of children with earliest observations around pre-puberty. In this longitudinal cohort study, our objective was to determine the natural history of disc changes from childhood to early adulthood, and the possible association of these changes to LBP.

Background: The aim of this study was to create a Finnish scar assessment scale by translating and evaluating the psychometric properties of the Patient Scar Assessment Scale (PSAS), a part of the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS), with burn patients to enable its use in burn care.
Methods: The translation process followed international guidelines with forward and backward translations and cognitive debriefing with patients. Psychometric validation was performed with adult patients with burns who had been treated at the Helsinki Burn Centre between 2006 and 2017 with skin grafting following the excision of deep second- or third-degree burns.

Objectives: The most common surgical option for releasing the first annular pulley in trigger digit (TD) is classic open surgery followed by blind percutaneous release. However, they have been related to major complications and incomplete releases, respectively. Intrasheath sonographically-guided first annular pulley release has recently been shown to be safe and effective in every digit.

Purpose: In this prospective observational cohort study, the development of lumbar intervertebral discs (LIVD) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was investigated from childhood to adulthood with emphasis on the possible association of disc degeneration (DD) to low back pain (LBP).
Methods: In 2021, 89 subjects who were enrolled in 1994 in a longitudinal study with lumbar spine MRI at ages 8, 11 and 18 were invited to participate in a long-term follow-up comprising a clinical examination, selected patient-reported outcome measures and a lumbar spine MRI. We assessed all MRIs (three lowest LIVDs) with the Pfirrmann summary score, and the ratio of signal intensity of nucleus pulposus to signal intensity of cerebrospinal fluid (SINDL).

Background: Computer simulations of knee movement allow Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) dynamic outcomes to be studied. This study aims to build a model predicting patient reported outcome from a simulation of post-operative TKA joint dynamics.
Methods: Landmark localisation was performed on 239 segmented pre-operative computerized tomography (CT) scans to capture patient specific soft tissue attachments.

Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common degenerative condition of the spine that causes back pain radiating to the lower extremity. Surgical treatment is indicated to treat progressive radical symptoms. Obesity has been associated with inferior results in the domains of quality of life (QoL) following an LSS operation, but the research findings have been limited.

Introduction: Distal radius is the most common site of fracture in children, comprising 23%-31% of all paediatric fractures. Approximately one-fifth of these fractures are displaced. Completely displaced distal metaphyseal radius fractures in children have traditionally been treated with closed reduction.

Background: Persistent wound drainage (PWD) is one of the major risk factors for periprosthetic joint infections (PJIs), arguably the most dreaded complication after total joint arthroplasty (TJA). The aim of this study was to identify the risk factors for PWD and provide a stepwise management protocol for it.
Methods: A retrospective review of 4873 TJAs was performed.
