Background: Cavernous sinus meningiomas (CSMs) are challenging skull base tumors due to their proximity to vital neurovascular structures. Traditional aggressive transcranial resection often leads to significant morbidities with limited improvement of cranial nerve (CN) deficits. Recent advancements in endoscopic skull base surgery and stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) offer a more conservative approach, facilitating tumor decompression while preserving critical structures.

Purpose Of Review: The burden of musculoskeletal disease is increasing globally and disproportionately affecting people in low and middle income countries (LMIC). We sought to review global access to orthopaedic care, burden of trauma, research infrastructure, impact of surgical mission trips, implant availability, and the effect of COVID-19 upon the delivery of orthopaedic care worldwide.
Recent Findings: The majority of people in LMIC do not have access to safe, quality surgical care, and there are few fellowship-trained orthopaedic traumatologists.
Introduction/aims: Phrenic neuropathy (PhN) impairs diaphragm muscle function, causing a spectrum of breathing disability. PhN etiologies and their natural history are ill-defined. This knowledge gap hinders informed prognosis and management decisions.

Importance: Vascular complications after transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) remain an important cause of procedure-related morbidity. Routine reversal of anticoagulation with protamine at the conclusion of transfemoral TAVI could reduce complications, but data remain scarce.
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of routine protamine administration after transfemoral TAVI.

: This paper serves as an up-to-date narrative review of the most effective methods and outcomes of ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) with new data comparing this method to oocyte and embryo cryopreservation as well as its utility in restoration of endocrine function. : Data on OTC are becoming more available as more patients are achieving cancer remission and choosing to use their cryopreserved tissue to conceive or restore endocrine function. With OTC only recently becoming a non-experimental method of fertility preservation, it is important to evaluate, compare, and optimize current practices to improve live birth outcomes.

Background: Cancer is commonly associated with pain. For patients with advanced cancer and intractable pain, ablative neurosurgical procedures can significantly improve pain and transition patients out of inpatient settings. These procedures are normally invasive, and this poses an important risk in this population.

The emergence of drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains is a threat to global health necessitating the discovery of novel chemotherapeutic agents. Natural products drug discovery, which previously led to the discovery of rifamycins, is a valuable approach in this endeavor. Against this backdrop, we set out to investigate the in vitro antimycobacterial properties of medicinal plants from Ghana and South Africa, evaluating 36 extracts and their 252 corresponding solid phase extraction (SPE) generated fractions primarily against the non-pathogenic Mycobacterium smegmatis and Mycobacterium aurum species.

Iron deficiency and heart failure frequently co-occur, sparking clinical research into the role of iron repletion in this condition over the last 20 years. Although early nonrandomized studies and subsequent moderate-sized randomized controlled trials showed an improvement in symptoms and functional metrics with the use of intravenous iron, 3 recent larger trials powered to detect a difference in hard cardiovascular outcomes failed to meet their primary endpoints. Additionally, there are potential concerns related to side effects from intravenous iron, both in the short and long term.

In order to become bioactive, proteins must be translated and protected from aggregation during biosynthesis. The ribosome and molecular chaperones play a key role in this process. Ribosome-bound nascent chains (RNCs) of intrinsically disordered proteins and RNCs bearing a signal/arrest sequence are known to interact with ribosomal proteins.

Background: Despite the prevalence of non-English languages in the US population, existing medical training to teach communication with linguistically diverse communities is limited to electives or solely focuses on medical interpreting. Language-appropriate communication skills are seldom comprehensively integrated in medical education. This study describes the development and evaluation of an intervention to teach foundational language equity concepts.

The United States (US) has one of the highest rates of incarceration in the world. Due to the aging of the US population as a whole and limited opportunities for early release, the proportion of older people in prison continues to rise. Some correctional health systems have adopted geriatric and palliative care principles to better care for this aging population, many of whom die in prison.

Background: Harungana madagascariensis (HM) and Psorospermum aurantiacum (PA), used traditionally for skin care, have been reported to upregulate the expression of intracellular antioxidant genes, thereby preventing melanoma and protecting fibroblast cell lines from Ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced intracellular oxidative stress.
Aims: This investigation aimed to identify major compounds in bioactive fractions using bioassay- guided fractionation.
Methods: The anti-inflammatory effect of fractions was determined by measuring their inhibitory activity on 15-lipoxygenase and nitric oxide (NO) in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.

Rectal cancer is a prevalent disease worldwide. The standard treatment of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) is preoperative chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery and adjuvant systemic chemotherapy. Studies have been done to determine the best sequence of treatments to improve survival, cure rate and long term toxicity profile.

Substantial advances have been made in the systemic treatment of breast cancer with residual disease following neoadjuvant therapy. We reviewed recent and ongoing studies informing the standard clinical management of residual disease by subtype: HER2+, TNBC, and HR+/HER2-, as well as strategies for BRCA+ disease. We conclude with a discussion of ongoing clinical trials and current controversies regarding the treatment of residual disease in breast cancer.
