Role of social innovations in health in the prevention and control of infectious diseases: a scoping review.

Background: The implementation of social innovations for addressing societal challenges, particularly in health, leverages community participation and technology to optimally meet social needs compared to traditional approaches. A key feature of these innovations is their ability to utilize existing capacities for contributing to resolving infectious disease outbreaks, which has attracted significant attention from health organizations. Given the potential of these innovations, this study has investigated social innovations in the prevention and control of infectious diseases as one of the major global challenges in the form of a comprehensive literature review.

Undiagnosed hypertension and diabetes mellitus in the Tabari cohort: a population-based study.

Background: Undiagnosed hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are major public health challenges worldwide. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of undiagnosed HTN and DM, and their correlates, in a large-scale population-based cohort study.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data collected during the enrollment phase of the Tabari Cohort study (TCS) were utilized.

Efficacy and safety of deep brain stimulation in drug resistance epilepsy: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

In the context of drug-resistant epilepsy, deep brain stimulation (DBS) has received FDA approval. However, there have been reports of potential adverse effects, such as depression and memory impairment associated with DBS.This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the impact of DBS on the quality of life (QoL), and seizure frequency of patients who had DRE, and assess its potential adverse events.

Development and Usability Evaluation of COVID-Iran: A Mobile Application for Mitigating COVID-19 Misinformation.

Objectives: The spread of misinformation through the internet can lead to dangerous behavioral changes and erode trust in reliable sources, especially during public health crises like coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). To combat this issue, innovative strategies that leverage information technology are essential. This study focused on developing and evaluating a mobile application (app), COVID-Iran, aimed at countering COVID-19 misinformation by delivering accurate, reliable, and credible information.

Psychometric properties of the Greek simplified medication adherence questionnaire among Iranian hemodialysis patients.

Patients suffering from chronic kidney failure ultimately need kidney replacement therapies, such as hemodialysis. Adherence to treatment in these patients can play a central role in improving health levels and feelings of well-being. The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the modified version of the Greek Simplified Medication Adherence Questionnaire in hemodialysis patients.

CHRNE-related congenital myasthenic syndrome in Iran: Clinical and molecular insights.

Variants in the CHRNE gene can lead to a condition called congenital myasthenic syndrome (CMS), which affects the neuromuscular junction (NMJ). CHRNE mutations are the most common cause of CMS. Seventy-seven patients with a possible diagnosis of CMS were referred to the neuromuscular clinic of Shariati Hospital affiliated with the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

In the medical field, wound healing poses significant challenges due to its complexity and time-consuming nature. Cell-free wound repair, notably the utilization of exosomes (EXOs), has made significant progress in recent years. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) show potential for treating neurodegenerative and traumatic diseases due to their neural crest origin. Melatonin (MT), an endogenous neurohormone with well-documented anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has shown promising results with MSCs in terms of engraftment, proliferation, and neuronal differentiation in animal SCI models. However, the effects of melatonin preconditioning on human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) for SCI treatment remain unclear.

The effects of curcumin supplementation on inflammatory markers in systemic lupus erythematosus patients: a randomized placebo-controlled trial.

Purpose: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease with multisystem involvement. This study was designed to examine the effects of curcumin, a polyphenolic compound isolated from turmeric rhizomes, on inflammatory markers in SLE patients.

Methods: Seventy 18-60 years old SLE patients were recruited in this randomized triple-blinded placebo-controlled trial, and 62 completed the study.

Background: It is essential for nurses to interpret electrocardiograms accurately in cardiac care and emergency departments. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the accuracy of a two-stage deep learning (DL) model for (1) detecting mandibular third molars (MTMs) and the mandibular canal (MC), and (2) classifying the anatomical relationship between these structures (contact/no contact) on panoramic radiographs.

Synergistic effect of curcumin and Piperine loaded Niosomal nanoparticles on acute pulmonary toxicity induced by Paraquat in mice.

Objective: Paraquat (PQ), a widely used non-selective herbicide, induces severe lung toxicity by promoting cell death and tissue necrosis through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and free radicals. This study aimed to develop and evaluate novel niosomal nanoparticles (NPs) encapsulating curcumin and piperine to mitigate PQ-induced acute pulmonary toxicity in Balb/c mice.

Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Loaded Rhamnolipid Based Solid Lipid Nanoparticle as Skin Lightener Formulation: A Green Production Beside In Vitro/In Vivo Safety Index Evaluation.

Purpose: In the current investigation, an ultrasonic approach was performed to produce menadione sodium bisulfite-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (MSB-SLNs) with rhamnolipid as bio-surfactant, which aimed to increase the dermal delivery and anti-pigmentation effect.

Methods: To achieve optimum delivery for MSB, the impact of the ratio of two surfactants (rhamnolipid: Tween) on nanoparticle attributes and the respective functions were evaluated. In vitro diffusion process, in vitro cytotoxicity assay, determination of melanin content of melanoma cells, L-DOPA auto-oxidation inhibitory test, and skin irritation studies carried out to investigate the suitability of MSB formulation in dermal application.
