Purpose: Cardiovascular health disparities are present in African Americans, but it remains unknown whether this phenomenon affect Somali Americans. Study of Somali Americans is warranted due to distinct genetic and cultural differences from African Americans of western African ancestry. Orthostatic hemodynamic responses have implications for cardiovascular risk, especially among African American females.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biodistribution of a platelet-derived exosome product (PEP), previously shown to promote regeneration in the setting of wound healing, in a porcine model delivered through various approaches. Exosomes were labeled with DiR far-red lipophilic dye to track and quantify exosomes in tissue, following delivery via intravenous, pulmonary artery balloon catheter, or nebulization in sus scrofa domestic pigs. Following euthanasia, far-red dye was detected by Xenogen IVUS imaging, while exosomal protein CD63 was detected by Western blot and immunohistochemistry.

Urinary incontinence afflicts up to 40% of adult women in the United States. Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) accounts for approximately one-third of these cases, precipitating ~200,000 surgical procedures annually. Continence is maintained through the interplay of sub-urethral support and urethral sphincter coaptation, particularly during activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure.

The survival benefits of pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) for the treatment of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension have been well described. However, the significance of right heart hemodynamic changes and their impact on survival remains poorly understood. We sought to characterize the effects of these changes.

Symptomatic non-obstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD) is an increasingly recognised entity that is associated with poor cardiovascular outcomes. Nearly half of those undergoing coronary angiography for appropriate indications, such as typical angina, or a positive stress test have no obstructive lesion. There are no guideline recommendations as to how to care properly for these patients.

Background: Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is frequently obtained in patients with infective endocarditis, yet its utility in predicting outcomes for valve replacement surgery in patients is unknown. The objective of this study was to determine how brain MRI findings impact clinical management and outcomes.
Methods: Demographic and clinical data from electronic medical records at Mayo Clinic were retrospectively reviewed for patients hospitalized with definite or possible infective endocarditis according to the modified Duke criteria between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2014.
