Background: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a rare, potentially life-threatening genetic heart disease. Nonselective beta-blockers (BBs) are highly effective in reducing CPVT-triggered arrhythmic events. However, some patients suffer from unacceptable BB side effects and might require strategies without a BB.

Residency websites can often be crucial for influencing neurosurgery applicants' first impressions of programs. This study explores the representation of diversity on neurological surgery residency program websites and evaluates the impact of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) statements. The websites of 117 neurological surgery residency programs were evaluated for the presence of 12 diversity and inclusion elements.

Introduction: Tendon injuries of the hand present a diverse spectrum of challenges in emergency medicine, ranging from minor strains to catastrophic ruptures. The superficial anatomy of hand tendons predisposes them to various mechanisms of injury, leading to complex medical scenarios. Here, we present a unique case of flexor tendon exposure secondary to abscess formation and spontaneous rupture, emphasizing the importance of prompt recognition and management of such injuries in the emergency department.

Introduction: Assessing facial aesthetic surgery outcomes often relies on expert opinion, which inherently introduces bias. This study examined the use of artificial intelligence to objectively compare novel and standard brow lift techniques.
Methods: Fifty-nine patients who underwent brow lift surgery between 2006 and 2020 were divided into two groups: Group A (n = 47) underwent a standard brow lift, while Group B (n = 12) received our novel technique.

Spino-plastic surgery describes a specialized, multidisciplinary approach to addressing various spinal pathologies. The field is the innovative product of a multidisciplinary collaboration between plastic and reconstructive, orthopedic, and neurosurgery. Over the last few decades, this collaboration has borne promising surgical techniques and treatment plans geared toward restoring form, function, and aesthetics in patients with a variety of spinal conditions, including failed fusions, pseudoarthrosis, and the need for oncologic reconstruction.

Objective: To compare reflux symptoms, Zenker's diverticulum recurrence, and clinical outcomes in patients with and without a history of hiatal hernia who underwent Zenker's diverticulotomy (ZD).
Study Design: Single institution retrospective review.

Objective: The extent of parotidectomy for benign tumors has de-escalated in the United States. We aim to define modern benchmarks for operative time and hospital length of stay (LOS) in parotidectomy and identify risk factors that may prolong these benchmarks.
Study Design: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study of all adults who underwent parotidectomy for a primary parotid neoplasm between January 2011 and December 2021 using the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database.

Objective: To compare a cohort of symptomatic patients with mild- to moderate (<70%) carotid artery stenosis with those patients with high-grade (≥70%) carotid artery stenosis (symptomatic and asymptomatic) to assess for markers that places them at a higher risk for stroke.
Methods: A propensity score matched cohort study design for all patients who underwent carotid revascularization between 2015 to 2024 was utilized to compare the high-grade (≥70%) symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid stenosis groups against the mild to moderate (<70%) symptomatic carotid stenosis group. Matched variables included age, sex, and atrial fibrillation.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists are medications used to treat type 2 diabetes and may aid in weight loss efforts. The surgical management of patients taking GLP-1 agonists differs from others due to the slowed gastric emptying effects of GLP-1 medications. Patients taking these medications may have a higher risk of pulmonary aspiration during hand surgery than other patients, which affects their presurgical management.

The expanding regenerative medicine toolkit is reaching a record number of lives. There is a pressing need to enhance the precision, efficiency, and effectiveness of regenerative approaches and achieve reliable outcomes. While regenerative medicine has relied on an empiric paradigm, availability of big data along with advances in informatics and artificial intelligence offer the opportunity to inform the next generation of regenerative sciences along the discovery, translation, and application pathway.

It is generally recommended that patients not be on immunosuppressive medications for patch testing, as these medications may suppress delayed-type hypersensitivity and lead to false negative results. There is a paucity of literature describing organ transplant recipients who underwent patch testing. The aim of this study is to examine patch testing results in solid organ transplant recipients over a 13-year period at our institution.

The use of normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) over static cold storage in liver transplantation has been shown to reduce posttransplant risks of early allograft dysfunction, primary nonfunction, and ischemic cholangiopathy, and its increasing use has played a role in the expanded utilization of marginal livers. While studies have demonstrated improved clinical outcomes using NMP over static cold storage preservation, real-time intraoperative data reflecting the quality and viability of NMP livers is limited. This retrospective, single-center study compared NMP versus static cold storage livers in first-time recipients of liver transplants through the evaluation of synthetic coagulation function as measured by thromboelastography and conventional coagulation testing.

Background: Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (iTBS) are non-invasive treatments for major depressive disorder (MDD). While effective, variability in outcomes necessitates identifying predictors of therapeutic response. This study examined whether motor threshold (MT), percentage of motor threshold (%MT), and treatment intensity could predict clinical outcomes in MDD patients undergoing rTMS and iTBS.
