As the field of neural organoids and assembloids rapidly expands, there is an emergent need for guidance and advice on designing, conducting and reporting experiments to increase the reproducibility and utility of these models. Here, our consortium- representing specialized laboratories from around the world- presents a framework for the experimental process that ranges from ensuring the quality and integrity of human pluripotent stem cells to characterizing and manipulating neural cells in vitro, and from transplantation techniques to considerations for modeling human development, evolution, and disease. As with all scientific endeavors, we advocate for rigorous experimental designs tailored to explicit scientific questions, and transparent methodologies and data sharing, to provide useful knowledge for both current research practices and for developing regulatory standards.

The archives of Ministry of Health of Russia, journal publications, interviews and memoirs testify that issue of quality of medications was key one in life of Russian Pharma in 1992-2004. The drug safety support considered not only as part of social policy, but also as rules that could be used to reformat"wild bazaar" into "controlled market". The media disputes, departmental justifications, political bills and memoirs give idea about "price of the issue" - tension of emotions, ambitions, financial losses.

Tau PET has attracted increasing interest as an imaging biomarker for 4-repeat (4R)-tauopathy progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). However, the translation of in vitro 4R-tau binding to in vivo tau PET signals is still unclear. Therefore, we performed a translational study using a broad spectrum of advanced methodologies to investigate the sources of [F]PI-2620 tau PET signals in individuals with 4R-tauopathies, including a pilot PET autopsy study in patients.

The discovery of a new kind of experience can teach an agent what that kind of experience is like. Such a discovery can be epistemically transformative, teaching an agent something they could not have learned without having that kind of experience. However, learning something new does not always require new experience.

Physiology education in Africa faces challenges due to gaps in curricula across many of its universities, such as divergent content, a lack of standardized competencies, and suitable benchmarking. Here, we describe the development of the Physiology Curriculum for African Universities (PhysioCAFUN), a competency-based curriculum development guideline, as a first step to address such shortcomings. A committee of 15 physiologists from different African regions, Europe, and the United States was constituted to draft the PhysioCAFUN, which was introduced and revised during the joint East African Society of Physiological Sciences (EASPS) and African Association of Physiological Sciences (AAPS) conference held in Tanzania late 2023.

Background: Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are gaining popularity globally and becoming popular among young people, including in Nepal. Easy accessibility, appealing ads, and the misconception that e-cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes have fueled their rising popularity among university students in Nepal. The lack of comprehensive data on the prevalence and determinants of e-cigarette use among university students in Nepal underscores the urgent need for targeted research in this area.

In the history of Russian pharmaceutical market, the year of 1993 became the year of both formation of rules of market relations and alteration of market landscape for changed conditions. The significant segment of state centralized purchases moved under responsibility of regional authorities and their health authorities. At that, authorizations of former three state organizations occupied with import purchases were distributed between new state companies of the Ministry of Health Care and commercial organizations and firms that entered pharmaceutical market.

Background: We recently found that peritubular cells of the human testis are a dominant site of expression of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR; encoded by NR3C1). Activation of GR by dexamethasone (Dex) strongly influences the phenotype of cultured human testicular peritubular cells (HTPCs), causing massive changes of their proteome and secretome. As glucocorticoids (GC) are also known to set the internal clock of peripheral organs by regulating clock genes, we tested such an influence of Dex in HTPCs.

Cardiac autonomic dysfunction (CADF), mainly characterized by increased heart rate, decreased heart rate variability, and loss of vagal modulation, has been extensively described in patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) and their healthy first-degree relatives. As such, it represents an apparent physiological link that contributes to the increased cardiovascular mortality in these patients. Common genetic variation is a putative underlying mechanism, along with lifestyle factors and antipsychotic medications.
