[Operative risk related to tobacco in gynecology].

If tobacco has been recognized for many years as a major risk factor for cardiovascular, lung diseases and cancer in the general population, women are insufficiently aware of the consequences and the specific gynecological operative risks related to this intoxication. Thus, a regular tobacco consumption increases the risk for many gynecological conditions may require surgical treatment with in addition a significant negative impact on the healing process and the risk of postoperative complications. The operative risk must be explained by surgeons in daily practice gynecological, pelvic surgery or breast screening.

Clinical success of intrauterine insemination cycles is affected by the sperm preparation time.

Objective: To determine the impact of the time interval from the end of sperm preparation (TSP) to intrauterine insemination (IUI) on the outcome.

Design: Prospective multicentre cohort study.

Setting: Seven French centers (assisted reproduction group in northeastern France, four academic centers, and three clinics).

Patients And Methods: The pregnant women with type 2 diabetes who delivered between 2002 and 2010 were systematically involved in an observational study. Maternal and fetal outcomes were reviewed, as well as the potential impact of preconceptional management.

Aims Of The Study: This prospective study aimed to analyze the relationship between EEG at 6 weeks after birth and cognitive outcome at the age of 5 in children born very preterm who did not present with severe neonatal cerebral abnormalities.

Patients And Methods: EEGs were recorded at 6 weeks of age in infants born <29 weeks of gestation or weighing <1000 g at birth. At 5 years, study participants underwent a neurological assessment and cognitive evaluation with the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC).

[Effects of perinatal nutrition on developmental outcomes].

The multifactorial nature of perinatal growth is now well established. The perinatal environment modulates each infant's genetic potential. Antenatal nutrition is dependent on maternal nutrition and is also subject to environmental factors such as tobacco smoke, which can significantly impact infant development.

[Fetal weight estimation during labour: comparison of the clinical and ultrasonographic approaches].

Objective: The estimation of the fetal weight is of major interest in many situations when the route of delivery has to be determined: breech presentations, diabetes and suspected macrosomia. The objective was to evaluate the accuracy of different methods for estimating fetal weight (EFW) during labour. A quality audit of the ultrasound images was also performed.

[Balloon catheter for cervical ripening on scarred uterus with unfavorable cervix: multicenter retrospective study of 151 patients].

Objectives: To evaluate safety and efficacy of balloon catheter for labor induction in women with previous cesarean section.

Material And Methods: In a multicenter retrospective cohort study, 151 patients were included with the following criteria: pregnancy over 37 weeks, singleton, vertex presentation, previous caesarean section with unique transversal segmentary incision, medical indication for induction of labor, unfavorable cervix with Bishop score inferior to 7, no premature rupture of membranes. Balloon catheter used for cervix ripening, is inflated from 30 to 80 mL of sterile of NaCl and is left until 24 hours.

[Azoospermia and 45,X/46,XY chromosomal mosaicism: a case report].

Chromosomal abnormalities are common in patients with oligozoospermia or azoospermia. We report the case of a 32-year patient, with male phenotype, and without hormonal or morphological abnormalities, with a severely reduced spermatogenesis. It was revealed a 45,X/46,XY gonadal dysgenesis.

[Neonatal therapeutic hypothermia: amplitude-integrated electroencephalography to confirm the indication].

Moderate hypothermia therapy (HT) after perinatal asphyxia of the newborn has clearly demonstrated its efficacy in reducing both mortality and long-term neurosensory sequelae. HT has now been introduced in many developed countries as a standard of care for term infants meeting the entry criteria for therapeutic cooling. However, this new therapy is only effective in case of an acute perinatal hypoxic-ischemic event.

[Management of post-partum infections].

Post-partum endometritis are frequent and account for the fifth cause of maternal death. This disease is preventable and effective treatments are available. Streptococcus agalactiae is the primary pathogen implicated.

[Management of post-abortum infections].

In countries where induced abortions are legal and medically supervised, the frequency of post-abortion infections is low and maternal death is infrequent. Nevertheless, short and long term consequences of post-abortion infections must be addressed. Sexually transmitted pathogens are frequently in cause here.

OS047. Quantification of placental vascularization in a rabbit model ofIUGR with three-dimensional power doppler angiography.

Introduction: Placental dysfunction is known to be a major cause of pregnancy complications, such as perinatal loss, preeclampsia, and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Inadequate remodeling of the spiral arteries resulting in decreased blood flowto the placenta has been implicated in the pathophysiology of preeclampsia and IUGR. 3D power Doppler angiography (PDA) is a noninvasive and safe way to study blood flow within an organ or region of interest.

[Conservative management of a percreta placenta involving the omentum].

We present the case of a percreta placenta involving the omentum, occurring in a patient with two uterine scars, diagnosed by chance during a scheduled caesarian. A conservative management of the uterus but radical for the placenta was made possible because of the invasion of the free edge of the omentum, not described in the literature until then. The postoperative course was uneventful.

[Materno-fetal morbidity of instrumental deliveries: forceps versus spatulas. About a series of 77 cases].

[Mastocytosis and pregnancy].

Mastocytosis is a rare disorder characterized by an accumulation of mastocytes in cutaneous and visceral tissues. In the presence of stimuli such as stress, pain, drug administration and cutaneous compression, it can ultimately lead to cardiovascular collapse. In women with mastocytosis, pregnancy monitoring and pain management in the peripartum period can be challenging and should involve a multidisciplinary approach.

Effect of formula composition on the development of infant gut microbiota.

Objectives: Breast-feeding induces a gut microbiota rich in bifidobacteria, whereas formula-fed babies have a more diverse colonization. This ecosystem contributes to the development of the immune response and the lower incidence of diarrhea and allergy in breast-fed infants. This randomized double-blind controlled trial aimed to evaluate the bifidogenic effect of a mainly whey protein study formula low in phosphate and protein, allowing a composition closer to that of human milk.

[Hysteroscopic tubal sterilization with Essure® devices: a retrospective descriptive study and evaluation of hypnosis].

Objectives: The Essure(®) system is a hysteroscopic sterilization method. The aim of our study is to retrospectively evaluate the sterilization procedure with Essure(®) devices, with and without anesthesia, and in particular with hypnosis.

Patient And Methods: The descriptive study includes all tubal sterilization with Essure(®) performed during the year 2009 at the Maternité régionale de Nancy.
