Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play a crucial role in the occurrence and progression of cancer. The efficient isolation and analysis of EVs for early cancer diagnosis and prognosis have gained significant attention. In this study, for the first time, a rapid and visually detectable method termed freeze-thaw-induced floating patterns of gold nanoparticles (FTFPA) is proposed, which surpasses current state-of-the-art technologies by achieving a 100 fold improvement in the limit of detection of EVs.

Depression triggered by harmful stress in adolescents is a common phenomenon that can lead to serious social problems. Its treatment is still frustrating in the clinic. We reported the phenomenon that a 12-day chronic unpredictable stress (CUS), starting on postnatal day 28, led to a significant decrease in the number of microglia in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus in adult mice.

To determine the disease spectrum and genetic characteristics of inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) in Xinjiang province in the northwest of China, 41,690 newborn babies were screening by tandem mass spectrometry from November 2018 to December 2021. Of these, 57 newborn babies were referred for genetic analysis by next-generation sequencing, which was validated by Sanger sequencing. A total of 36 newborn babies and one relative were diagnosed with IEM, and the overall positive predictive value was 29.

Adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) are commonly used in regenerative medicine, but the genetic features of their development into neuronal cells are unknown. This study used single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to reveal gene expression changes during ADSCs to neuronal differentiation. Sequencing of the ADSCs group, the prei-1d group, and the induction 1 h, 3 h, 5 h, 6 h, and 8 h groups was performed using the BD Rhapsody platform.

Fermentation engineering is critical for mass-producing chemicals, food additives, and medicines, where optimal culture conditions maximize microbial growth and metabolite production. Although monitoring bacterial growth during fermentation is critical, there is a lack of a non-invasive and sensitive method to directly monitor the bacterial metabolism. In this paper, a novel optical monitoring method is proposed based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy.

Background: Wilms tumor (WT) is the most common pediatric kidney cancer, with survival rates exceeding 90% in localized cases. However, advanced or recurrent WT remains difficult to treat due to poor prognosis and limited knowledge of its molecular mechanisms. Gene expression profiling has shown promise in identifying prognostic markers and therapeutic targets.

Hemoglobin disorders are highly prevalent inherited hematological defects in Southern China. The identification of novel variants in globin genes and accurate assessment of hematological parameters play a crucial role in precise genetic counseling and clinical practice. Peripheral blood samples were collected for hematological analysis, including red blood cell and hemoglobin assessment, while serum ferritin levels were measured to detect iron depletion.

This study was aimed to investigate the performance of chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) in prenatal diagnosis compared with traditional karyotyping analysis. Both CMA and karyotyping analyses were performed to detect the karyotypes in the amniotic fluid of 491 pregnant women who got prenatal diagnosis at the Center of Prenatal Diagnosis of Shangrao (China) during January 2019 to April 2021. After excluding 2 samples in the CMA analysis and 2 samples in the karyotyping analysis which were failed in detection, the remaining 487 amniotic fluid samples were detected.

Background: Metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a novel term proposed in 2023 to replace non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with the aim of better reflecting its pathogenesis and clinical manifestations. Vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) is an evidence-based, non-invasive imaging device used to evaluate liver fat deposition and fibrosis. It can effectively detect liver fat infiltration greater than 5%, which is much higher than the previous ultrasound detection rate (it is difficult to detect liver fat deposition below 30%).

Numerous contemporary diseases are linked to food contamination. Pathogenic agents might stem from certain food ingredients or result from pollution stemming from food processing or packaging. One such contaminant is 3-Chloro-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD), it has been previously reported to be produced during the preparation of chemical sauces, as well as during the heating of baked goods.
