Primary solitary fibrous tumor of the stomach: A case report and a review of literature.

Rationale: Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are spindle cell tumors that typically occur in the pleura and peritoneum, but very rarely in the stomach. To our best knowledge, there are only 10 cases reported in English literature. We reported a case of primary stomach SFT and summarized the characteristics of all previous cases, suggesting that pathologists and surgeons should include this disease in the differential diagnosis list of primary mesenchymal tumor of the stomach.

Analysis of cardiac developmental toxicity induced by m-cresol in early life of zebrafish and its mechanism.

The compound m-Cresol, also referred to as 3-methylphenol,acts as a precursor in the creation of pesticides and plasticizers. This research has conducted a thorough evaluation of the toxic effects of m-cresol on the cardiac development of juvenile zebrafish, from 6 to 72 hpf. The study's results reveal that higher concentrations of m-Cresol, compared to lower ones, result in more severe heart abnormalities in zebrafish larvae.

The Predictive Significance of Platelet-to-Lymphocyte Ratio for Miscarriage: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Miscarriage is a common complication of pregnancy, and its underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms remains unclear. The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), a prothrombotic and inflammatory marker, has been controversially discussed as a potential predictor of miscarriage. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the predictive significance of the PLR in women with miscarriage compared to healthy pregnancies.

Identification of novel CDH23 heterozygous variants causing autosomal recessive nonsyndromic hearing loss.

Background: Hearing loss adversely impacts language development, acquisition, and the social and cognitive maturation of affected children. The hearing loss etiology mainly includes genetic factors and environmental factors, of which the former account for about 50-60%.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the genetic basis of autosomal recessive non-syndromic hearing loss (NSHL) by identifying and characterizing novel variants in the CDH23 gene.

The role of GOT1 in cancer metabolism.

GOT1, a cytoplasmic glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, plays a critical role in various metabolic pathways essential for cellular homeostasis and dysregulated metabolism. Recent studies have highlighted the significant plasticity and roles of GOT1 in metabolic reprogramming through participating in both classical and non-classical glutamine metabolism, glycolytic metabolism, and other metabolic pathways. This review summarizes emerging insights on the metabolic roles of GOT1 in cancer cells and emphasizes the response of cancer cells to altered metabolism when the expression of GOT1 is altered.

Desmoplastic (collagenous) fibroma of the parietal bone: Case report and review of the literature.

Desmoplastic fibroma (DF) is an uncommon benign bone tumor that typically affects the facial bones, with cerebral cranium involvement being extremely rare. We report a unique case of DF in the parietal bone of a 28-year-old woman, notable for its rapid growth during pregnancy-a phenomenon not previously documented. The imaging features of this case also differ from all but one previously reported case.

Dual inhibition of TYK2 and PD-L1 boosts immune response in triple negative breast cancer.

Recent studies have shown that Janus Kinase inhibitors can enhance the tumor therapeutic effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, it remains to be studied whether TYK2 selective inhibitors can enhance the therapeutic effect of small molecule PD-L1 inhibitors in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). We verified the efficacy of the combination of the selective TYK2 inhibitor Deucravacitinib and the small molecule inhibitor of PD-L1, INCB086550, in two TNBC animal models: a syngeneic mouse model (4T1 with humanized PD-L1) and a peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC)-humanized model (MDA-MB-231).

Methods: This retrospective study includes 65,711 ER+ early male (n = 611) and female (n = 65,100) breast cancer patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database diagnosed between 2010 and 2018.

In this study, we focused on a specific circRNA, hsa_circ_0002005, derived from the mesoderm-induced early response 1 family member 2 (MIER2) gene. We determined the expression levels of hsa_circ_0002005 in OS samples through the use of real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).

The role of ferroptosis in liver injury after cold ischemia-reperfusion in rats with autologous orthotopic liver transplantation.

Using autologous orthotopic liver transplantation (AOLT) model in rats, the effect of lipid reactive oxygen species (L-ROS) inhibitor Ferrostain-1 on ferroptosis signal pathway was observed to determine whether ferroptosis occurred in rat liver injury after cold ischemia-reperfusion (I/R). Thirty-two healthy adult SPF male SD rats, 8 ~ 10 weeks old, weight 240 ~ 260 g, were divided into four groups by the method of random number table (n = 8): sham group, I/R group, I/R + Fer-1 group, I/R + DFO group. In the I/R + Fer-1 group, ferristatin-1(5 mg /kg) was intraperitoneally injected 30 min before surgery; in the I/R + DFO group, DFO 100 mg/kg was injected intraperitoneally 1 h before operation and 12 h after operation.

Methods: Participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2003-2018 were included. Participants were categorized into three groups based on estimated live microbe intake: low, medium, and high.

Screening for retinopathy of prematurity in China: a five-year cohort study in seven screening centers.

Background: To analyze the demographic characteristics of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in China, attempting to propose optimized screening criteria and hopefully providing valuable information for future updates to the ROP guideline.

Methods: A multicenter, retrospective-cohort study was conducted. The study included infants born between January 1, 2018, and July 31, 2023, who underwent ROP screening and were diagnosed with ROP at seven screening centers in China.

Introduction: Placental extracellular vesicles (EVs), lipid-enclosed particles released from the placenta, can facilitate intercellular communication and are classified as micro- or nano-EVs depending on size. Placental EVs contain molecules associated with cell proliferation and death. In this study, we investigated whether treating human ovarian tumour explants with placental EVs could induce ovarian tumour cell death.

Nomogram model based on serum chitotriosidase activity to predict coronary artery aneurysm in Kawasaki disease.

Objective: Kawasaki disease (KD) is a common children's disease with unknown etiology, which easily involves coronary artery and causes serious cardiovascular sequelae. The purpose was to investigate the relationship between chitotriosidase activity and coronary artery aneurysm (CAA) and develop and validate a nomogram to predict CAA in KD patients.

Methods: A total of 338 KD patients were included in this study.
