Background: COVID-19 has caused a global shift in healthcare-seeking behaviour; however, presentation rates with serious conditions, such as stroke in low COVID-19-prevalence cities, has received less attention.
Aims: To determine if there was a significant reduction in stroke admissions, delivery of acute reperfusion therapies, or increased delays to presentation during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: A multicentre, retrospective, observational cohort study was performed across three tertiary hospitals in Brisbane, Australia.

Background: Little is known about the dietary practices of women who have completed primary treatment for ovarian cancer, many of whom will go on to have cancer recurrence and further treatment. Knowledge of dietary practices is needed to optimize care.
Objective: Our aim was to identify dietary practices after primary treatment for ovarian cancer and evaluate how these practices differ by disease recurrence and treatment status.

Suprapubic catheterisation (SPC) is a common urological intervention. We present a rare case of ureteric cannulation following SPC catheter change and summarize the literature around this rare phenomenon. To our knowledge, our case is the first to have occurred in a patient without a neuropathic bladder.

is a bipolar Gram-negative bacillus and the causative agent of melioidosis; an infectious disease which commonly presents with bacteraemia. Data regarding direct from blood culture identification of using the Vitek mass spectrometer (MS) are limited. The authors aim to assess the safety and sensitivity of the Vitek MS for identification of from spiked positive blood culture samples.

The field of 'refugee health' is generally understood in terms of the efforts of health professionals from a host country to provide care for humanitarian entrants. This paper attempts to undermine that idea, focusing instead on the service that health workers from refugee background communities are able to render, both to their own communities and to broader society, when barriers to their participation are made more equitable. The point of departure for this Practice paper is the 2019 pilot 'Observership Program' that was initiated by Mater Refugee Health in Brisbane, Australia.

Introduction: The mechanisms that contribute to continued male intrauterine growth in response to an adverse maternal environment, such as those brought on by maternal asthma, remain largely undefined but may, in part, be mediated by androgen-mediated signalling. We previously reported the expression of multiple AR protein isoforms in the human placenta and proposed the novel AR-45 isoform to be integral in mediating male-specific androgen-dependent signalling in the presence of maternal asthma. In the current study we have used an ex vivo approach to further understand sex-specific differences in placental androgen signalling in the presence and absence of inflammation using human term villous placental explants.

Background And Aims: Excluding superimposed enteric infection is critical in the management of acute severe ulcerative colitis [ASUC]. Whilst infection with Clostridium difficile and cytomegalovirus have been shown to increase colectomy and mortality rates, no data exist regarding the impact of common viral enteropathogens in ASUC. Our aim was to determine if viral enteric infection in ASUC alters the severity or outcomes of these episodes.

Objectives: 5-aminosalicylate (mesalazine; 5-ASA) is an established first-line treatment for mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis (UC). This study aimed to model the benefits of optimising 5-ASA therapy.
Methods: A decision tree model followed 10 000 newly diagnosed patients with mild-to-moderately active UC through induction and 1 year of maintenance treatment.

Purpose: This study used a collaborative approach to explore the needs, barriers, and facilitators to developing cochlear implant referral information material that would be valuable for hard of hearing adults and referring audiologists.
Method: During the development of a prototype referral aid to be used within the Australian context, a multistage qualitative study was conducted using a consultative process, informal and semistructured interviews, as well as online surveys. A deductive directed content analysis approach was applied to assess respondents' perspectives.

Objectives: To understand current thinking and clinical decision-making in the treatment and management of patients with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis (UC).
Methods: This multinational, survey-based study was conducted in 2021. Two meetings were held, involving 11 IBD specialists, that used a series of questions and discussion to identify all factors possibly related to the management of UC.

Background: Ustekinumab is increasingly used in pregnant women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Existing safety data are reassuring, but the stability of ustekinumab levels in pregnancy, degree of transfer to the infant and time to infant clearance are unknown.
Methods: In this prospective observational study, ustekinumab-exposed women with IBD had trough levels measured in each trimester of pregnancy and at delivery.

Background: F-fluciclovine is a synthetic amino acid positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer that is approved for use in prostate cancer. In this clinical study, we characterised the kinetic model best describing the uptake of F-fluciclovine in breast cancer and assessed differences in tracer kinetics and static parameters for different breast cancer receptor subtypes and tumour grades.
Methods: Thirty-nine patients with pathologically proven breast cancer underwent 20-min dynamic PET/computed tomography imaging following the administration of F-fluciclovine.
