Background: Reviewing the laboratory studies, we observe some drugs with other specified applications, which cause serious inhibitory immune responses in the body. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) are among these drugs. Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare malignant disorder, occurs as a result of abnormal proliferation of lymphocytes that produce immunoglobulin M. Materials And Methods: In this experimental survey, 20 male Wistar rats weighing approximately 200-250 g were randomly divided into four experimental groups respectively: ischemia group in which the femoral artery was transected; phosphate buffer solution group (PBS) in which the femoral artery transected location was immersed with PBS; chitosan (CHIT) group in which the transected location was immersed in a 50 μL CHIT solution; and mast cell transplanted group in which the transected location was immersed with a mixture of 50 μL CHIT and 50 μL PBS that contained 1×10 mast cells.

Investigating β-adrenergic-induced cardiac hypertrophy through computational approach: classical and non-classical pathways.

The chronic stimulation of β-adrenergic receptors plays a crucial role in cardiac hypertrophy and its progression to heart failure. In β-adrenergic signaling, in addition to the well-established classical pathway, Gs/AC/cAMP/PKA, activation of non-classical pathways such as Gi/PI3K/Akt/GSK3β and Gi/Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK contribute in cardiac hypertrophy. The signaling network of β-adrenergic-induced hypertrophy is very complex and not fully understood.

Association of serum intact fibroblast growth factor 23 with left ventricular mass and different echocardiographic findings in patients on hemodialysis.

Objectives: To determine the association of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) through the assessment of left ventricular (LV) mass and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) in patients on hemodialysis, this study was done.

Methods: All patients on hemodialysis who are older than 18 years and in whom hemodialysis vintage was at least 6 months were enrolled. Background: The impact of neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) on influenza-related pneumonia (IRP) is not established. Our objective was to investigate the association between NAI treatment and IRP incidence and outcomes in patients hospitalised with A(H1N1)pdm09 virus infection.

Methods: A worldwide meta-analysis of individual participant data from 20 634 hospitalised patients with laboratory-confirmed A(H1N1)pdm09 (n = 20 021) or clinically diagnosed (n = 613) 'pandemic influenza'.

Role of Innate Lymphoid Cells in Lung Disease.

Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are identified as novel population of hematopoietic cells which protect the body by coordinating the innate immune response against a wide range of threats including infections, tissue damages and homeostatic disturbances. ILCs, particularly ILC2 cells, are found throughout the body including the brain. ILCs are morphologically similar to lymphocytes, express and release high levels of T-helper (Th)1, Th2 and Th17 cytokines but do not express classical cell-surface markers that are associated with other immune cell lineages.

Objectives: This study sought to compare the sensitivities of serum galactomannan and bronchoalveolar lavage galactomannan in diagnosing invasive aspergillosis in solid-organ transplant recipients (lung and heart).

The prevalence of depression among the general population has been estimated as up to 50% and even higher among asthmatics. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to evaluate the prevalence of depressed mood among asthma patients (n = 280) attending a pulmonary clinic in Tehran and compare it with measures of severity of asthma and of health and well-being. Churg-Strauss syndrome following cessation of allergic desensitization vaccination: a case report.

Introduction: Churg-Strauss syndrome is a vasculitis of medium to small sized vessels. Diagnosis is mainly clinical with findings of asthma, eosinophilia, rhinosinusitis and signs of vasculitis in major organs.

Pulmonary aspergillosis in solid organ transplant patients: a report from Iran.

Background: Aspergillosis is one of the most important opportunistic infections after organ transplantation. Early diagnosis and initiation of appropriate antifungal therapy are key factors for better prognosis.

Methods: We reviewed the medical records of patients with solid organ transplantation with evidence of Aspergillus infections from December 2001 to January 2008, evaluating patient demographics, time of onset after transplantation, risk factors, radiologic appearance, diagnostic criteria, antifungal therapy, and outcome.

Tuberculous osteomyelitis of the long bones and joints.

Skeletal tuberculosis(TB) is usually a rare osteoarticular disease in which bones or joints are involved. We studied 4 such cases admitted to Iranian National Research Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases from 2000 to 2003. In the initial stages of the disease, diagnosis is very difficult and conventional radiographies often reveal nonspecific findings.

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica: presentation of ten cases and review of the literature.

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare benign disease of the endobronchial system with nonspecific symptoms and different treatment approaches.
