Background: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the frontline treatment for insomnia, has yet to be evaluated among patients with primary brain tumors (PwPBT) despite high prevalence of sleep disturbance in this population. This study aimed to be the first to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and acceptability of implementing telehealth group CBT-I as well as assessing preliminary changes in subjective sleep metrics in PwPBT from baseline to follow-up.

Proteasomes are multi-subunit complexes that specialize in protein degradation. Cancer cells exhibit a heightened dependence on proteasome activity, presumably to support their enhanced proliferation and other cancer-related characteristics. Here, a systematic analysis of TCGA breast cancer datasets revealed that proteasome subunit transcript levels are elevated in all intrinsic subtypes (luminal, HER2-enriched, and basal-like/triple-negative) when compared to normal breast tissue.

Dual Targeting of the PDZ1 and PDZ2 Domains of MDA-9/Syntenin Inhibits Melanoma Metastasis.

Genome-wide gene expression analysis and animal modeling indicate that melanoma differentiation associated gene-9 (mda-9, Syntenin, Syndecan binding protein, referred to as MDA-9/Syntenin) positively regulates melanoma metastasis. The MDA-9/Syntenin protein contains two tandem PDZ domains serving as a nexus for interactions with multiple proteins that initiate transcription of metastasis-associated genes. Although targeting either PDZ domain abrogates signaling and prometastatic phenotypes, the integrity of both domains is critical for full biological function.

Current treatment of solid tumors with standard of care chemotherapies, radiation therapy and/or immunotherapies are often limited by severe adverse toxic effects, resulting in a narrow therapeutic index. Cancer gene therapy represents a targeted approach that in principle could significantly reduce undesirable side effects in normal tissues while significantly inhibiting tumor growth and progression. To be effective, this strategy requires a clear understanding of the molecular biology of cancer development and evolution and developing biological vectors that can serve as vehicles to target cancer cells.

Purpose: To assess oncologists' responsibility, comfort, and knowledge managing hyperglycemia in patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a questionnaire collected oncologists' perceptions about professionals responsible for managing hyperglycemia during chemotherapy; comfort (score range 12-120); and knowledge (score range 0-16). Descriptive statistics were calculated including Student t-tests and one-way ANOVA for mean score differences.

Recent years have seen the recognition and establishment of numerous subtypes of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), including adoption of an entire category of "molecularly defined renal carcinomas" in the fifth Edition of World Health Organization Classification. To add value, new diagnostic entities should be clinicopathologically distinct, or better, imply specific management and treatment angles, especially if adjunctive testing is needed for diagnosis. One such promising future treatment angle for a molecularly defined subtype, -amplified RCC, is immunotherapy, for which recent scholarship has demonstrated frequent expression of PD-L1.

It is well known for its tyrosine kinase-dependent oncogenic activities in a variety of human cancers. Purpose: Tobacco smoking is a risk factor in several cancers, yet its roles as a putative etiologic exposure or poor prognostic factor in breast cancer are less clear. Altered DNA methylation contributes to breast cancer development and may provide a mechanistic link between smoking and gene expression changes leading to cancer development or progression.

Methods: Using a cancer-focused array, we examined methylation at 933 CpGs in 517 invasive breast tumors in the Carolina Breast Cancer Study to determine whether methylation patterns differ by exposure to tobacco smoke.
