A comprehensive strategy, including spectroscopic, molecular simulation, proteomics, and bioinformatics techniques, was employed to investigate a novel triazole, 5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole, its interactions with high-abundance blood proteins, and identification of low-abundance proteins. The binding constants and thermodynamic parameters of the triazole to two high-abundance blood globular proteins, human serum albumin, and human immunoglobulin G (HIgG), were obtained by spectroscopic techniques and computational chemistry. The two-dimensional gel electrophoresis in combination with matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry was employed to isolate and identify differentially expressed low-abundance proteins in human blood serum samples following exposure to the triazole.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a widely used class of synthetic chemicals that pose a significant global environmental and health threat due to their persistent and bioaccumulation toxicity caused by strong C-F bonds in their structures. PFAS usually exist in trace concentrations in environmental water bodies, which poses great challenges for environmental analysis. In this study, environmentally friendly cellulose was modified with polyaniline through in situ oxidative polymerization, and used as the filter paper for solid-phase extracting 23 PFAS in water.

Fabricating Lattice-Confined Pt Single Atoms With High Electron-Deficient State for Alkali Hydrogen Evolution Under Industrial-Current Density.

Adv Mater

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composites and College of Chemical Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing, 100029, People's Republic of China.

The confining effect is essential to regulate the activity and stability of single-atom catalysts (SACs), but the universal fabrication of confined SACs is still a great challenge. Here, various lattice-confined Pt SACs supported by different carriers are constructed by a universal co-reduction approach. Notably, Pt single atoms confined in the lattice of Ni(OH) (Pt/Ni(OH)) with a high electron-deficient state exhibit excellent activity for basic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).

Purpose: We hypothesized that radiation-induced tubulointerstitial changes in the kidney can be assessed using MRI-based T relaxation time measurements.

Methods: We performed MRI, histology, and serum biochemistry in two mouse models of radiation nephropathy: one involving external beam radiotherapy and the other using internal irradiation with an α-particle-emitting actinium-225 radiolabeled antibody. We compared the mean T values of different renal compartments between control and external beam radiotherapy or α-particle-emitting actinium-225 radiolabeled antibody-treated groups and between the two radiation-treated groups using a Wilcoxon rank-sum test.

Key Laboratory of Drug Targets and Translational Medicine for Cardio-cerebrovascular Diseases, Key Laboratory of Targeted Intervention of Cardiovascular Disease, Collaborative Innovation Center for Cardiovascular Disease Translational Medicine, The Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, Gusu School, Nanjing Medical University, Jiangsu, China (X.T., X.L., X.S., Y. Zhang, Y. Zu, Q.F., L.H., S.S., F.C., L.X., Y.J.).

Background: The decrease in S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR) leads to an elevation of S-nitrosylation, thereby exacerbating the progression of cardiomyopathy in response to hemodynamic stress. However, the mechanisms under GSNOR decrease remain unclear. Here, we identify NEDD4 (neuronal precursor cell expressed developmentally downregulated 4) as a novel molecule that plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy, by modulating GSNOR levels, thereby demonstrating significant therapeutic potential.
