Background & Aim: The use of mechanical ventilation devices as a supportive respiratory system for hospitalized patients in intensive care units is often accompanied by the inability of alert patients to establish verbal communication. This study aims to determine the impact of patient communication software on facilitating communication for mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit.
Methodology: This clinical trial was conducted with two groups, each comprising 60 alert, mechanically ventilated patients hospitalized in medical universities in Mashhad, from December 2022 to January 2023.

In traditional medicine, potential anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving activity of and has been emphasized. In this study, we explored binding affinity of 36 bioactive compounds from these plants to cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) receptor using docking method. Six compounds namely, beta carotene, lycopene, lutein, momordicoside, rutin and azadirachtin showed excellent binding affinities (-10.

Background: A wide variety of laboratory hemostasis tests is available, but the majority is plasma-based, static and unable to assess platelet function and fibrin formation simultaneously. The Total Thrombus-Formation Analysis System (T-TAS) is a microchip-based flow chamber system that simulates in vivo conditions for evaluating whole blood thrombogenicity.
Aim: A comprehensive overview of its applicability in different thrombosis and hemostasis related clinical situations is lacking and therefore this scoping review was performed.

Background: The objective of the present study was to assess potential immunotoxic effects of aspartame in BALB/c mice.
Methods: Aspartame was administered orally at 400 and 2000 mg/kg for two weeks (five days per week). Specific parameters of humoral and cellular immune responses including hemagglutinating antibody (HA) titer, cytokine production (IFN-γ and IL-4 levels), delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response to SRBCs, histopathological examination of spleen and bone marrow, and T-lymphocyte proliferation in response to phytohemagglutinin-A (PHA) were evaluated.

In cases where permanent teeth have closed apices and completely erupted roots, the probability of root fractures is increased due to the stable support given by the adjacent bone and periodontal tissues. Fractures have the potential to affect several dental structures, including the pulp, dentin, cementum, bone, and periodontal tissues. In cases of horizontal root fractures (HRF), the apical section typically maintains vitality; however, the present case presented an unusual apex necrosis.

Despite the importance of finding replacements for fetal bovine serum (FBS), very few studies have focused on this subject. Historically, the use of animals and their derivatives in growth, reproduction, and physiological studies has raised several concerns. The supplementation of culture media with FBS, also known as fetal calf serum, continues to be widespread, despite its limitations in quality, reproducibility, and implications for animal welfare.

Objective: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is among the autoimmune disorders caused by antiphospholipid antibodies, which provoke blood clots (thrombosis) in arteries and veins. It can also cause such complications as severe preeclampsia, miscarriage, premature birth, and stillbirth in pregnant women. We investigated the clinical and serological characteristics of antiphospholipid syndrome patients.

Exercise (Ex) and environmental enrichment (EE) as the nondrug solutions have positive effects on cognitive behaviors and also increase the ability to cope with anxiety, fear, and stress. In this research, we decided to investigate the simultaneous effect of Ex and EE on anxiety-like behaviors and hippocampal neurogenesis markers in healthy rats. A total of 40 male Wistar rats were divided into four treatment groups: control, EE, Ex, and EE + Ex.

Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is associated with an inferior prognosis. Therefore, a focus has been on identifying new biomarkers for early diagnosis and predicting patient survival. Recent studies on the entire human genome have pinpointed prevalent genetic alterations on chromosome 9p21 that heighten the vulnerability to cancer.

Cardiovascular complications of Brucellosis are not common and affecting less than 2% of cases. In clinical practice, endocarditis is the most frequent cardiovascular complication and is responsible for most of the brucellosis-related mortality cases and usually diagnosed lately in the course of the disease with mostly aorta valve involvement. In this case report, we present the case of a 27-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital with fever, sudden onset right side hemiparesis, and horizontal gaze palsy.

Background/aim: B19 virus (B19V) is a single-strand DNA virus that has specific tropism to erythroid progenitor cells (EPCs). The virus enters the cells via P antigen and coreceptors and induces infection and cell apoptosis. GATA1 has a high expression in EPC and is a critical transcription factor for the cells development and differentiation.

Chrysin, a flavone nutraceutical, possesses several beneficial pharmacological properties, which has gained much emphasis in recent years. The biological effects of chrysin are exerted due to impeding or activating multifarious cellular and molecular pathways. Our findings indicated that chrysin inhibited tumor progression in various cancer cell lines by repressing the formation of a sphere and upregulated protein expression of Src homology region 2 domain-containing phosphatase-1 (SHP-1), alleviating phosphorylated-signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (p-STAT3) and transaction workflow innovation standards team1 (Twist1), sustaining phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and endorsing mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase1 (MEK1) overexpression, increasing the cytochrome c release, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) collapse, and caspase-3 activity, modulating p53/ B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2)/caspase-9 cascade, cyclooxygenase- 2 (COX-2), nuclear factor kappa B proposition 65 (NF-kB p65) expression and also decreasing the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2).

Background: The capacity to anticipate future health issues is important for both policy makers and practitioners in the USA, as such insights can facilitate effective planning, investment, and implementation strategies. Forecasting trends in disease and injury burden is not only crucial for policy makers but also garners substantial interest from the general populace and leads to a better-informed public. Through the integration of new data sources, the refinement of methodologies, and the inclusion of additional causes, we have improved our previous forecasting efforts within the scope of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) to produce forecasts at the state and national levels for the USA under various possible scenarios.

Patients with diabetic are at a higher risk of developing hepatic disorders compared to non-diabetic individuals. This increased risk can be attributed to the diabetic environment, which triggers and exacerbates harmful pathways involved in both diabetic complications and hepatic disorders. Therefore, it is important to consider the use of antidiabetic agents that offer benefits beyond glycemic control and have positive effects on liver tissues.

Background: Rosemary (Ros) is a member of the Lamiaceae family known for its antitumor properties. However, its low water solubility and impaired bioavailability are limiting factors when using rosemary extract. Liposomes are synthetic vesicles that offer permeability, improved bioavailability, and lack of immunogenicity and toxicity, making them ideal for delivering various drugs.
