Introduction: Understanding causal risk factors that contribute to the development of multimorbidity is essential for designing and targeting effective preventive strategies. Despite a large body of research in this field, there has been little critical discussion about the appropriateness of the various analytical approaches used. Hhex is one of the most common sites of retroviral integration in mouse models. We found the most common integrations in AKXD (recombinant inbred strains) T-ALLs occur 57-61kb 3' of Hhex and activate Hhex gene expression.

Randomized Controlled Studies on Smartphone Applications and Wearable Devices for Postoperative Rehabilitation After Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review.

Introduction: Smartphone and wearable technologies are novel devices for monitoring postoperative mobility and recovery in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. This systematic review of the highest-level evidence studies evaluated the advantages of these technologies in postoperative care, specifically focusing on 1) smartphone applications, 2) wearable devices, and 3) their combined use.

Methods: A systematic literature search from July 26, 2015, to June 13, 2024, identified Level-1 and -2 published studies investigating smartphone applications and wearables for monitoring post-TKA recovery.

Introduction: Delirium is a common issue following liver transplantation (LT), but research has mainly focused on single-center cohorts.

Methods: We studied delirium in a national cohort of adult LT recipients transplanted October, 2015-December, 2020 using the MarketScan database. Claims data were used to identify LT recipients with delirium.

Controlled human infection studies accelerate vaccine development.

Clinical trials that employ human challenge, also known as controlled human infection models (CHIM), have rapidly advanced vaccine development for multiple pathogens, including at least 30 disease models to date. CHIM studies, championed by networks of researchers, regulators, ethicists, technical experts, and other stakeholders, limit exposure of individuals to an investigational product, de-risk product investments, identify correlates of protection, and most importantly provide a prompt readout of vaccine efficacy. While CHIM studies provide multiple advantages, important challenges exist, including strengthening the relevance and comparability of CHIM study results to efficacy trials in endemic areas, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Measurement of Λ_{b}^{0}, Λ_{c}^{+}, and Λ Decay Parameters Using Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-} Decays.

A comprehensive study of the angular distributions in the bottom-baryon decays Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-}(h=π,K), followed by Λ_{c}^{+}→Λh^{+} with Λ→pπ^{-} or Λ_{c}^{+}→pK_{S}^{0} decays, is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9  fb^{-1} collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV. The decay parameters and the associated charge-parity (CP) asymmetries are measured, with no significant CP violation observed. For the first time, the Λ_{b}^{0}→Λ_{c}^{+}h^{-} decay parameters are measured.

Theory for Dissipative Time Crystals in Coupled Parametric Oscillators.

Discrete time crystals are novel phases of matter that break the discrete time translational symmetry of a periodically driven system. In this Letter, we propose a classical system of weakly nonlinear parametrically driven coupled oscillators as a test bed to understand these phases. Such a system of parametric oscillators can be used to model period-doubling instabilities of Josephson junction arrays as well as semiconductor lasers.
