Objectives: This study evaluated countermovement jump and Single Leg Jump measures to identify landing measures that best distinguish a novel Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction technique using bone marrow aspirate, demineralized bone matrix, and suture tape augmentation patients from controls. The secondary objective assessed performance differences between operated and non-operated limbs post-reconstruction. The hypothesis was that novel Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction patients at return to sport would not differ from controls during landing and that the operated limb's performance would not differ from the unoperated limb.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the rates and factors related to subsequent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries following initial ACL reconstruction in a large sample of patients in the U.S. from 2015 to 2021.
  • Out of 40,151 patients, 4.2% experienced a subsequent ACL reconstruction, with a majority being revisions of the original graft rather than new injuries on the opposite knee.
  • Key findings suggest that younger age increases the likelihood of re-injury, and that those needing revisions tend to seek treatment sooner, with females being less likely to return for ipsilateral repairs compared to males.

Introduction: Although Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination is critical to control its spread, vaccine hesitancy varies significantly among the United States population; moreover, some vaccine recipients experienced various adverse effects. We aim to assess the impact of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in a university-affiliated community, the factors affecting participants' decisions, and their adverse effects.

Methods: A pre-vaccination online Institutional Review Board IRB-approved survey was emailed in Nov/Dec 2020, 2 months before the implementation of state-policy protocols for COVID-19 vaccination.

The glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists reduce glycated hemoglobin in patients with type 2 diabetes. Mounting evidence indicates that the potential of GLP-1R agonists, mimicking a 30 amino acid ligand, GLP-1, extends to the treatment of neurodegenerative conditions, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the mechanism that underlies regulation of GLP-1R availability in the brain with AD remains poorly understood.

Previous studies showed a potential anti-inflammatory effect of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) as well as possible inhibition of pancreatic secretion. This presents the question of their possible use in acute pancreatitis (AP). Current clinical evidence does not address the role of PPI and the present review for possible therapeutic use and safety is lacking.

Pulmonary sarcomatous carcinoma is a rare subtype of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This cancer has very low survival rates primarily due to its aggressive nature and propensity for early spread to abdominal organs and the skeletal system. Remarkably, brain metastasis is observed at later stages of the disease, likely attributing to the high fatality rate after the disease progresses to the brain tissue.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. In metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)-related HCC, cellular redox imbalance from metabolic disturbances leads to dysregulation of the α1-subunit of the Na/K-ATPase (ATP1A1) signalosome. We have recently reported that the normalization of this pathway exhibited tumor suppressor activity in MASH-HCC.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is one of the major risk factors for chronic liver disease and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The incidence of MASH in Western countries continues to rise, driving HCC as the third cause of cancer-related death worldwide. HCC has become a major global health challenge, partly from the obesity epidemic promoting metabolic cellular disturbances but also from the paucity of biomarkers for its early detection.
