The Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed (WGEW) Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) network common experiment addresses the aspirational practice of brush management (BM) to reverse the prevailing condition of woody plant encroachment (WPE) and increase perennial native grass production. Across the western United States, the decision to implement BM includes consideration of management objectives, cost, and the expected impact on a diverse suite of ecosystem services. Maintaining or restoring grass cover will help meet the LTAR sustainable production, economic, and social goals, and averting degradation will meet environmental goals.

Physics-based computer models based on numerical solutions of the governing equations generally cannot make rapid predictions, which in turn limits their applications in the clinic. To address this issue, we developed a physics-informed neural network (PINN) model that encodes the physics of a closed-loop blood circulation system embedding a left ventricle (LV). The PINN model is trained to satisfy a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) associated with a lumped parameter description of the circulatory system.

Objective: The NIH All of Us Research Program aims to advance personalized medicine by not only linking patient records, surveys, and genomic data but also engaging with participants, particularly from groups traditionally underrepresented in biomedical research (UBR). This study details how the dialogue between scientists and community members, including many from communities of color, shaped local research priorities.
Materials And Methods: We recruited area quantitative, basic, and clinical scientists as well as community members from our Community and Participant Advisory Boards with a predetermined interest in All of Us research as members of a Special Interest Group (SIG).

Purpose: Studies show mixed associations between adolescent social media use and anxiety. This systematic review evaluated research on social media and anxiety among adolescents for direction of associations, social media measures, demographic stratification, anxiety measures, and study quality.
Methods: We searched for articles published in English before 2021 that tested associations between adolescent social media use and anxiety.

Montane landscapes present an array of abiotic challenges that drive adaptive evolution amongst organisms. These adaptations can promote habitat specialisation, which may heighten the risk of extirpation from environmental change. For example, higher metabolic rates in an endothermic species may contribute to heightened cold tolerance, whilst simultaneously limiting heat tolerance.

Robust, accurate, and direct measurements of evaporation and related energy fluxes on the Laurentian Great Lakes are necessary to understand the large historical range in water levels, regional climatology, lake hydrodynamics, and lake-effect snowfall, all of which inform water management. Despite the societal and scientific importance of this information, few long-term, full-year, in situ measurements exist due to logistical, financial, and safety-related challenges. We present 15 years (2008-2022) of eddy covariance data from Stannard Rock, a historic lighthouse on Lake Superior located 38 km southeast of Manitou Island and 72 km north of Marquette, Michigan.

In fMRI, capturing brain activity during a task is dependent on how quickly the k-space arrays for each volume image are obtained. Acquiring the full k-space arrays can take a considerable amount of time. Under-sampling k-space reduces the acquisition time, but results in aliased, or "folded," images after applying the inverse Fourier transform (IFT).

Objectives: Not much is known about safety checklists use in dentistry. We aim to examine, assess, and provide a comprehensive understanding of the current knowledge concerning the use of checklists to improve patient safety in dentistry.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search using Medline and Embase for studies that use or describe the development of dental patient safety checklists.

To develop a no-code artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of identifying primary proximal surface caries using bitewings among pediatric patients. One hundred bitewing radiographs acquired at pediatric dental clinics were anonymized and reviewed. The inclusion criteria encompassed bitewing radiographs of adequate diagnostic quality of primary and mixed-dentition stages.

Accurate local temperature measurement at micro and nanoscales requires thermometry with high resolution because of ultra-low thermal transport. Among the various methods for measuring temperature, optical techniques have shown the most precise temperature detection, with resolutions reaching (~10 K). In this work, we present a nanomechanical device with nano-Kelvin resolution (~10 K) at room temperature and 1 atm.

In this work, photothermal beam deflection spectrometric technique (BDS) is applied for non-contact and non-destructive characterization of chitosan (CS): cellulose (CEL) biocomposites with incorporated sporopollenin exine capsules (SEC). The objective was to determine the structural and thermal properties of synthesized CS:CEL:SEC composites with varying amounts of SEC, and to validate the BDS by photopyroelectric calorimetry (PPE) as an independent technique. It was found that CS:CEL biocomposites without SEC exhibit low porosities, which are on the order of 0.

This paper introduces a novel approach to life-testing using Extended Dagum (EXD) percentiles within the framework of group inspection plans. The methodology focuses on optimizing sample sizes and analyzing termination time ratios to enhance the reliability of quality control procedures. By leveraging the flexibility of the EXD distribution, the proposed approach accurately models complex survival data, accommodating heavy-tailed characteristics often encountered in practice.

Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) complicate about 10 % of pregnancies and lead to postpartum hospital readmissions and cardiovascular complications. Following HDP, vascular dysfunction could persist and accelerate the trajectory of cardiovascular disease risk. The benefits of intensive blood pressure (BP) control following HDP have not been adequately investigated.

Wastewater surveillance has been extensively applied to provide information about SARS-CoV-2 circulation in the community. However, its applicability is limited in regions lacking adequate sewerage infrastructure, without wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) or with insufficient coverage. During the COVID-19 pandemic, from July 2020 to September 2021, comprehensive epidemiological data encompassing positive, recovered, and deceased cases were collected alongside precipitation records.

A series of rhenium and manganese carbonyl complexes of a heteroscorpionate ligand with an atypical NP-donor set has been prepared to better understand their electronic and CO releasing properties. Thus, the ligand, pzTTP, with an ,-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)tolyl group decorated with an -situated di(-tolyl)phosphanyl reacts with carbonyl group 17 reagents to give [-(κNP-pzTTP)Re(CO)Br], 1, and [-(κNP-pzTTP)M(CO)](OTf = OSCF), 2-M (M = Re, Mn), if care is taken during the preparation of the manganeses derivative. When heated in CHCN, 2-Mn slowly transforms to [,-(κNP-pzTTP)Mn(CO)(NCCH)](OTf), 3-Mn.

Drawing on Black feminist theories of intersectionality and concepts of temporality and embodiment, this study centers Black girlhood to understand Black girls embodied journeys of "becoming" Black women. Findings revealed that: (a) Black girls often have complicated histories that lead to constrained and liberatory choices in adulthood and motherhood; (b) becoming a Black woman involves continual adaptations to temporal and historical contexts; and (c) Black motherhood is a contested space, deeply shaped by remembering Black girlhood and navigating maternal responses to legacies of harm. This study highlights the challenges and strengths in the transitory states of Black womanhood.
