Our taxonomic study from March 2014 to November 2015 along the atlantic coast between Casablanca and El Jadida revealed that phytoplanktonic structure is mainly represented by Diatoms (Bacillariophyceae), Dinoflagellates (Dinophyceae), Silicoflagellates (Dictyophyceae) and Euglenophyceae with a clear dominance of Diatoms and Dinoflagellates. A total of 101 taxa of planktonic algae have been identified revealing a relatively diversified taxocenosis. In terms of respective diversity, the Diatoms are represented by 62 taxa (61.

Diabetes is a substantial public health issue, while its prevalence continues to rise worldwide, affecting millions of persons between the ages of 20 and 80, the development of new therapeutic classes improving glycemic control and consequently micro and macrovascular complications are needed. Today, diabetes treatment is daily for life, and should not be interrupted. However, insulin secretagogues medications, and exogenous self-administration of insulin provide efficient antidiabetic effects, but their misuse leads to hypoglycemic complications besides other risks, hence the need to look for other natural products not to use solely but in concert with others types of medications.

Background And Justification: The Republic of Djibouti is located in the Horn of Africa, on the Gulf of Aden and the Bab-el-Mandeb detroit, at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. Prior to its independence in 1977, the Republic of Djibouti was known by two names: "Côte française des Somalis" until 1967, then "Territoire Français de Afars et Issas". As part of our doctoral research on the ecology of mosquitoes in Djibouti, we noted a lack of information on the species encountered, and felt it essential to draw up a list of species before embarking on ecological monitoring.

Climate change is recognised to lead to spatial shifts in the distribution of small pelagic fish, likely by altering their environmental optima. Fish supply along the Northwest African coast is significant at both socio-economic and cultural levels. Evaluating the impacts of climatic change on small pelagic fish is a challenge and of serious concern in the context of shared stock management.

Impact of and variants on HIV-1 susceptibility and progression to AIDS: a case-control study in a Moroccan population.

Nucleosides Nucleotides Nucleic Acids

November 2024

Virology Unit, Viral Hepatitis Laboratory, Institut Pasteur du Maroc, Casablanca, Morocco.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is an important regulator of the inflammatory immune response. We aimed to assess the association of common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in (rs1800795 G > C, rs1800797 A > G) and () (rs2228145 A > C) genes with HIV-1 infection, AIDS progression, and response to treatment. In this case-control study involving 199 individuals living with HIV-1 and 200 HIV-uninfected controls, we conducted genotyping of SNPs using TaqMan real-time PCR assays.
