Background: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a form of pulmonary embolism, and pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) is the surgical treatment. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) levels are increased in pulmonary hypertension. This study aimed to investigate serum ADMA levels in patients with CTEPH, the effect of PEA on ADMA, and its prognostic value in long-term mortality.

We present a pediatric case with T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia and persistent chylothorax who was referred to lymphoscintigraphy to identify the site of leakage. Planar lymphoscintigraphy with SPECT/CT revealed hot spots at the left jugulovenous angle and the confluens of the vena brachiocephalica to vena cava, which were compatible with the sites of leakage. Hybrid imaging with SPECT/CT technique have great impact on accurate detection of the defects in the lymphatic system in patients with chylothorax.

Objective: Aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of mean platelet volume (MPV), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values, that can easily be obtained with complete blood count (CBC), in the diagnostic differentiation of testicular torsion and epididymorchitis.

Method: Data of patients, who admitted to the urology or emergency departments, diagnosed with acute scrotum, between 2008-2017, were reviewed and retrospectively extracted. Basic characteristics (age, etc.

Behçet disease is a rare multisystemic vasculitis that can affect all sizes and types of blood vessels. Recurrent painful erythematous nodular lesions called erythema nodosum are the most common skin lesions of Behçet disease. Herein, we present 18F-FDG PET/CT images of erythema nodosum lesions in a patient with Behçet disease.

Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a membrane glycoprotein, which is overexpressed in prostate cancer cells. With its wide use, there is a growing number of case reports describing non-prostate cancer-related benign and malignant lesions showing increased 68Ga-PSMA uptake. We herein present the case of an 89-year-old man with prostate cancer who was referred for 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT for restaging, which revealed incidental 68Ga-PSMA uptake in compression fracture of a vertebral body.

Vertebral hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors of the spine and mostly occur in the thoracic spine. Mostly they are detected incidentally during imaging studies for other reasons. We present the case of vertebral hemangioma that showed prostate-specific membrane antigen uptake in the second 68Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen PET/CT, whereas no uptake was observed in the initial study.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a relatively rare, but highly lethal cancer of the pleural mesothelial cells. Its pathoge-nesis is integrally linked to asbestos exposure. In spite of recent developments providing a more detailed understanding of the pathogenesis, the outcomes continue to be poor.

In this article, we examine the opportunities and challenges digital connectedness creates in the fight against epidemics, in particular the coronavirus (COVID-19). We deduce that digital connectedness of individuals and organizations eased sharing of information on the causes and measures aimed at controlling and avoid the rapid spread of the epidemic in developing economies of Africa. We conclude that digital connectedness enabled African countries to access; share and implement globally suggested mechanisms aimed at controlling the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Unusual composition of an exopolymer (EP) from an obligate halophilic bacterium 28 has triggered an interest in development of an effective bioreactor process for its production. Its synthesis was investigated in 2-L bioreactor at agitation speeds at interval 600-1000 rpm, at a constant air flow rate of 0.5 vvm; aeration rates of 0.

In this case report, we present the bone scintigraphic findings of a 9-year-old boy with Gaucher disease who has a history of fractures to evaluate the extent of his osseous lesions. Gaucher disease is a genetic deficiency of lysosomal enzyme glucocerebrosidase, which results in the accumulation of glucocerebroside in the macrophages in the reticuloendothelial cells of the spleen, liver, and bone marrow. Most patients with type 1 Gaucher disease present a clinical or radiographic evidence of infiltrative bone disease.

Background: In the last years, Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT), using biocompatible Yttrium-90 (90Y) labeled microspheres have emerged for the treatment of malignant hepatic tumors. Unfortunately, a significant part of 90Y-labeled microspheres may shunt to the lungs after intraarterial injection. It can be predictable by infusing technetium-99 m-labeled macro-aggregated albumin particles through a catheter placed in the proper hepatic artery depending on the lobe to be treated with performing a quantitative lung scintigraphy.

The hydrolysis of levan using compressed hot water for the production of functional fructooligosaccharides (FOSs) was investigated. Levans from (EH) and (HS) were characterized using scanning electron microscopy and light scattering techniques, and hydrolyzed using compressed hot water at four temperatures (120, 140, 160, and 180°C). The hydrolysates were analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry.

Objective: NOD-like receptor protein 1 (NLRP1) inflammasome complex has been recently associated with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depression. Our aim was to investigate whether ketamine-induced antidepressant effect is associated with suppression of NLRP1.

Methods: Wistar albino rats were divided into control, CUMS, CUMS+acute ketamine (a single 10 mg/kg dose) and CUMS+chronic ketamine (daily 10 mg/kg injections for 3 weeks) groups (n=10 for each group).

Four step synthesis of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-]thiophenes in the literature was reduced to two steps in good yields, through the preparation of the mono ketone, 1-(thiophene-3-ylthio)alkan-2-one, from 3-bromothiophene and ring formation reaction. This convenient method provides an easy access with good yields to the preparation of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-]thiophenes, which are important materials for organic electronic and optoelectronic applications. SEM, AFM and contact angle (CA) analyses of their electropolymers on indium tin oxide (ITO) indicated that as the alkyl chains became longer, the polymers provide a more hydrophobic layer with CA up to 107°.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is arare disease with apoor prognosis. The main therapeutic options for MPM include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy (RT). Although multimodality therapy has been reported to improve survival, not every medically operable patient is able to undergo all recommended therapy.

This document provides recommendations for monitoring and treatment of children in whom bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) has been established and who have been discharged from the hospital, or who were >36 weeks of postmenstrual age. The guideline was based on predefined Population, Intervention, Comparison and Outcomes (PICO) questions relevant for clinical care, a systematic review of the literature and assessment of the evidence using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. After considering the balance of desirable (benefits) and undesirable (burden, adverse effects) consequences of the intervention, the certainty of the evidence, and values, the task force made conditional recommendations for monitoring and treatment of BPD based on very low to low quality of evidence.

Understanding cell responses to the topography they are interacting with has a key role in designing surfaces due to the distinctiveness in the responses of different cell types. Thus far, a variety of surface textures have been fabricated, and the cellular responses of diversified cell lines to the surface textures have been assessed together with surface chemistry. However, the results reported in the literature are contradictory, and also not in-depth for inferring the relevance between cells, surface chemistry, and surface topography.
