Background: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of laser fluorescence (LF) readings in detection of caries removal by various techniques (CRTs).
Methods: A hundred and eighty extracted human molar teeth included in the study which were scored 3, 4, and 5 according to ICDAS. Each score group was randomly assigned to 4 subgroups according to CRT including ceramic bur (Group A), carbide bur (Group B), carbide bur with alumina abrasion (Group C), and carbide bur with bioactive glass (BAG) abrasion (Group D) (n = 15 for each group).

Background: This study aimed to investigate the range of angles and depths necessary for effective entry into the TMJ using CBCT images, focusing on classical Holmlund Hellsing points and a two-needle approach.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of CBCT images from January 2020 to November 2023 was analysed using 3D analysis to determine the variance in the required angles and depths.
Results: The average age of the 68 participants included in the study was 29.

Background: During pregnancy, the requirements of essential nutrients for the mother and foetus increase. The changes in pregnant women's eating behaviours may vary according to their sociodemographic characteristics. It is important to meet these increased requirements and understand the factors influencing eating habits during pregnancy.

Unlabelled: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an important brain disease associated with aging. It involves various functional and structural changes which alter the EEG characteristics. Although numerous studies have found changes in delta, theta, alpha, and beta power, fewer studies have looked at the changes in the resting state EEG gamma activity characteristics in AD.

Background: Although the underlying genetic causes of intellectual disability (ID) continue to be rapidly identified, the biological pathways and processes that could be targets for a potential molecular therapy are not yet known. This study aimed to identify ID-related shared pathways and processes utilizing enrichment analyses.
Methods: In this multicenter study, causative genes of patients with ID were used as input for Disease Ontology (DO), Gene Ontology (GO), and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis.

The results we obtained from this study gave information about the determination of alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7-nACh) expression in human erythroleukemia cells, as well as whether it has a role in calcium release and cell proliferation in the presence of nicotinic agonist, antagonists. Determining the roles of α7 nicotinic receptors in erythroleukemia cells will also contribute to leukemia-related signal transduction studies. This study is primarily to determine the role of nicotinic agonists and antagonists in cell proliferation, α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor expression, and calcium release.

Rapid maxillary expansion (RME) is an effective orthopedic procedure to correct maxillary transversal deficiency in young patients. In cases of sutural closure, surgically assisted RME is used to reduce the resistance to sutural disjunction. Foundation of a diagnostic relationship between maturation indices and the expected skeletal response to expansion can enable clinicians to identify the need for surgically assisted RME prospectively.

The interaction between form and function in the craniofacial region is a well-accepted fact in orthodontics. The aim of the present study is to objectively evaluate if mandibular sagittal symphyseal distraction causes an increase in the retroglossal airway size and hyoid position in a retrospective clinical study. The pretreatment (T0) and 3 months post-distraction (T1) cone-beam computed tomography images of 12 patients (mean age 17.

The predator scent-induced (PSI) stress model is a rat model used to mimic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in humans. There is growing evidence that prazosin, which blocks α-1 and is approved by the FDA as an anti-hypertensive drug, can potentially be of use in the treatment of PTSD-related sleep disorders. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of prazosin treatment on behavioral parameters (freezing time, total transitions, and rearing frequency measured from the open field; anxiety index, total entries and time spent in open arms calculated from the elevated plus maze), apoptotic proteins and α-2c-AR in fear memory reconsolidation in the PSI stress rat model.

D-cycloserine (DCS), an FDA approved anti-tuberculosis drug has extensively been studied for its cognitive enhancer effects in psychiatric disorders. DCS may enhance the effects of fear extinction trainings in animals during exposure therapy and hence we investigated the effects of DCS on distinct behavioral parameters in a predator odor stress model and tested the optimal duration for repeated daily administrations of the agent. Cat fur odor blocks were used to produce stress and avoidance and risk assessment behavioral parameters were used where DCS or saline were used as treatments in adjunct to extinction trainings.

It has been previously shown that acetylcholine (ACh) may affect pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The role of the cholinergic system in radiation-induced inflammatory responses and tissue damage remains unclear. Therefore, the present study was designed to determine the radio-protective properties of the cholinergic system in the ileum and the liver of rats.
