Purpose Of Review: This review will describe the various applications, benefits, risks, and approaches of conventional irreversible electroporation (IRE), as well as highlight the new technological developments of this procedure along with their clinical applications.

Recent Findings: Minimally invasive image-guided percutaneous IRE ablation has emerged as a newer, non-thermal ablation technique for tumors in the solid organs, particularly within the liver, pancreas, kidney, and prostate. IRE allows for ablation near heat-sensitive structures, including major blood vessels and nerves, and is not susceptible to the heat sink effect.

Patients who undergo human leukocyte antigen-matched unrelated donor (MUD) allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) with myeloablative conditioning for hematologic malignancies often develop acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) despite standard calcineurin inhibitor-based prophylaxis in combination with methotrexate. This trial evaluated a novel human CD24 fusion protein (CD24Fc/MK-7110) that selectively targets and mitigates inflammation due to damage-associated molecular patterns underlying acute GVHD while preserving protective immunity after myeloablative conditioning. This phase 2a, multicenter study evaluated the pharmacokinetics, safety, and efficacy of CD24Fc in combination with tacrolimus and methotrexate in preventing acute GVHD in adults undergoing MUD HSCT for hematologic malignancies.

Objectives: This report describes an unusual case of a multilocular idiopathic bone cavity (IBC) that presented as a botryoid odontogenic cyst situated between the mandibular lateral incisor and canine in an older adult.

Background: The IBC represents an intraosseous concavity that appears radiographically as a unilocular or multilocular radiolucent lesion found in various skeletal sites, including the jaw. Atypical cases of gnathic IBC have not been appreciated in the gerodontologic literature.

A shift in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines occurred in 2015 from routine intubation and endotracheal suctioning of all meconium-stained non-vigorous infants towards less aggressive interventions based on response to initial resuscitation. This study aims to examine the impact of this change on outcomes of non-vigorous infants born through meconium-stained amniotic fluid at a level III academic NICU encompassing years before and after the change in guideline. This single-center retrospective study compared NICU therapies and clinical outcomes of 117 non-vigorous newborns pre-guideline implementation to 106 non-vigorous newborns post-guideline implementation.

Most patients with multiple myeloma experience disease relapse after treatment with a B-cell maturation antigen-targeted therapy (BCMA-TT), and data describing outcomes for patients treated with sequential BCMA-TT are limited. We analyzed clinical outcomes for patients infused with standard-of-care idecabtagene vicleucel, an anti-BCMA chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, at 11 US medical centers. We have previously demonstrated that human liver-type phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK1) recruits other rate-determining enzymes in glucose metabolism to organize multienzyme metabolic assemblies, termed glucosomes, in human cells. However, it has remained largely elusive how glucosomes are reversibly assembled and disassembled to functionally regulate glucose metabolism and thus contribute to human cell biology. CD19 directed CAR-T therapy for Large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) has shown great therapeutic response in patients with relapsed/refractory disease with response rates of 60-80%. However, in patients with a partial response (PR) on initial day 28 post CAR-T therapy imaging, clinical uncertainty remains as half of these patients will ultimately have relapsed disease.   PATIENTS: In 24 patients receiving CD19 directed CAR-T therapy for relapsed/refractory LBCL achieving a PR on day 28, we utilize imaging biomarkers by 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging at pre CAR-T therapy baseline and day 28 to determine factors that may predict best overall response (B-OR), progression free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS).

Here, the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) updates its clinical practice recommendations for the management of multiple myeloma-related renal impairment on the basis of data published until Dec 31, 2022. All patients with multiple myeloma and renal impairment should have serum creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate, and free light chains (FLCs) measurements together with 24-h urine total protein, electrophoresis, and immunofixation. If non-selective proteinuria (mainly albuminuria) or involved serum FLCs value less than 500 mg/L is detected, then a renal biopsy is needed.

In the era of antiretroviral therapy (ART), Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) is a common non-AIDS-defining cancer with increasing incidence in people with human immunodeficiency virus (PWH). Through review of these cases, we identify clinical patterns such as declining CD4 count despite ART, hyperbilirubinemia and recurrent fever, which preceded diagnosis. Identifying these important signs and symptoms may lead to earlier diagnosis and initiation of therapy.

Quantum dots (QDs) are small nanoparticles with semiconductor properties ranging from 2 to 10 nanometers comprising 10-50 atoms. The single wavelength excitation character of QDs makes it more significant, as it can excite multiple particles in a confined surface simultaneously by narrow emission. QDs are more photostable than traditional organic dyes; however, when injected into tissues, whole animals, or ionic solutions, there is a significant loss of fluorescence.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) can respond to various mechanical cues such as shear stress and substrate stiffness. In the human brain, the compromised barrier function of the BBB is closely associated with a series of neurological disorders that are often also accompanied by the alteration of brain stiffness. In many types of peripheral vasculature, higher matrix stiffness decreases barrier function of endothelial cells through mechanotransduction pathways that alter cell-cell junction integrity.
