The genotoxic and cytotoxic effects of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) on specimens of Astyanax lacustris were evaluated using different biomarkers. Additionally, this study evaluated the efficiency of an activated carbon filter made from the husks green coconut, which was used as a biosorbent to remove 2,4-D dissolved in the water, and the potential effectiveness of this procedure for the reduction of the toxic effects of this compound on A. lacustris.

Statement Of Problem: Although the 2D analysis of prosthesis cementation space has been popular, its correlation with volumetric comparison (3D data) of cement space is unclear.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the cement space in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) crowns of different materials and correlate 2D measurements of cement space with their corresponding 3D values (volume of cement space) by using microcomputed tomography (μCT) analysis of regions of interest.
Material And Methods: Ten molar crowns were milled in lithium disilicate (LD), resin nanoceramic (RN), and zirconia (Z) ceramics.

Carnauba wax was used in salt encapsulation, allowing sodium reduction in fresh sausages while maintaining the salty taste due to the inhomogeneous salt distribution. Four treatments were made, as follows: treatment C containing 2% non-encapsulated salt, and the treatments S, S and S containing 2, 1.5, and 1% encapsulated salt, respectively.

Ultraviolet B (UVB) light corresponds to 5% of ultraviolet radiation. It is more genotoxic and mutagenic than UVA and causes direct and indirect cellular damage through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Even after radiation, ROS generation may continue through activation of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase (NOX) enzyme.

The aims of this study were to determine the fatty acid profile of meat from lambs fed with different levels of safflower seed (0%, 7.5%, and 15%) and, also, to compare the characteristics of the meat patties prepared from this lamb meat (LMP) with beef meat patties (BMP). The safflower seed-supplemented diet did not change the contents of polyunsaturated and unsaturated fatty acids, except for C22:1.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of methionine dipeptide supplementation on the meat quality of broilers subjected to heat stress. A completely randomized 3 × 2 factorial design with four repetitions of each treatment was used. Three diets, unsupplemented (U), supplemented with methionine (M), and supplemented with methionine dipeptide (MM), were fed to 96 broilers subjected to thermal comfort (TC) or heat stress (HS, 32 °C for 24 h) conditions antemortem.

Despite intense efforts, the number of new cases of leprosy has remained significantly high over the past 20 years. Host genetic background is strongly linked to the pathogenesis of this disease, which is caused by Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae), and there is a consensus that the most significant genetic association with leprosy is attributed to the major histocompatibility complex (MHC).

Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is a serum protein of innate immunity, with a central role in the activation of the complement system through the lectin pathway. This protein is encoded by gene, and single-nucleotide polymorphisms located at exon 1, such as rs5030737 C>T ( variant), rs1800450 G>A ( variant), and rs1800451 G>A ( variant), may change the MBL structure and the serum concentration. polymorphisms have been associated with several infectious diseases, including leprosy.

Studies have demonstrated the role of acanthocephalan as environmental bioindicators. The dynamics in the parasite-host relationship that define the patterns of distribution of trace metals in parasites and, in its host, are extremely variable. In addition, the neotropical region, which is a major maintainer of the biodiversity of fish and parasites, remains little explored in this subject.
