Exposure of the skin to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is associated with many pathological conditions such as premature aging and skin cancer. Furthermore, members of Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate-oxidase (NADPH oxidase or NOX) enzyme family can produce UV-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS), even after cessation of radiation exposure. The caffeic acid-phthalimide (CF) compound is a potent antioxidant, which reduces the generation of ROS.

Soybean is a crucial crop for the Brazilian economy, but it faces challenges from the biotrophic fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi, which causes Asian Soybean Rust (ASR). In this study, we aimed to identify SNPs associated with resistance within the Rpp1 locus, which is effective against Brazilian ASR populations. We employed GWAS and re-sequencing analyzes to pinpoint SNP markers capable of differentiating between soybean accessions harboring the Rpp1, Rpp1-b and other alternative alleles in the Rpp1 locus and from susceptible soybean cultivars.

Parenteral nutrition (PN) is commonly used in intensive care units (ICUs) and is associated with earlier hospital outcome. Ultrasonication is one of the non-thermal physical methods that can be used on foods and when used in synergy with temperature (thermosonication), this technique proves to be more effective, thus reducing the duration and intensity of heat treatment and the consequent damage to the foods. This work aimed to use the technique of ultrasonication and thermosonication in the processing of jalapeno pepper sauces in comparison with pasteurization. Two types of sauces were produced, one with pre-cooking (a) and the other without cooking (b), and the influence of time and temperature was analyzed by applying ultrasonication and thermosonication.

This work aimed to analyze cagaita nectar subjected to different thermal and non-thermal treatments regarding its quality over 30 days of storage (5 °C). Ultra (U) and thermosonication (T) were the techniques used for 30 and 60 minutes of processing samples. These techniques proved to be effective to preserve physicochemical quality, regarding rheology and texture, since ultra and thermosonicated samples had their consistency increased when compared to the pasteurized sample over 30 days, a desirable factor for a fruit nectar.

Chitosan-based film incorporated with citric acid was prepared by the casting method for application in a Brazilian matured cheese. Three formulations of cheese were processed, with the intention of evaluating the application of a starter culture and the effect of the film in terms of its physiochemical, microbiological, and sensorial characteristics. It was observed by scanning electron microscopy (sem) analysis that the film has a homogeneous appearance, and the crosslinking between citric acid and chitosan was confirmed by the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis.

It is an essential nuclear protein involved in numerous cellular processes, such as DNA replication, class-switch recombination, cell cycle regulation, and response to UV or ionizing radiation-induced DNA damage. The C-terminal region of the human KIN (hKIN) protein is composed of an SH3-like tandem domain, which is crucial for the anti-proliferation effect of the full-length protein.

This prospective and longitudinal study aimed to identify spontaneous post-orchiectomy pain behaviors in horses regardless of the effects of anesthesia, analgesia, and recording time of day. Statement Of Problem: Although the 2D analysis of prosthesis cementation space has been popular, its correlation with volumetric comparison (3D data) of cement space is unclear.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the cement space in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) crowns of different materials and correlate 2D measurements of cement space with their corresponding 3D values (volume of cement space) by using microcomputed tomography (μCT) analysis of regions of interest.

It is more genotoxic and mutagenic than UVA and causes direct and indirect cellular damage through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Buffaloes and pigs play an important epidemiological roll in the infection cycle, and asymptomatic animals can act as key component in the dissemination of the disease by horizontal, vertical, and cross-species transmission. Our study aimed and was able to confirm evidences of a cross-species transmission of Agona between asymptomatic buffaloes and pigs. Also, we described infection within the pig production phases, involving serotypes Agona, Senftenberg and Schwarzengrund.

Imidacloprid (IMD) is a neonicotinoid insecticide widely used in crops, pets, and on farm animals for pest control, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animals and humans. In a previous study using isolated rat liver mitochondria, we observed that IMD inhibited the activity of FF-ATP synthase. In the first edition of the Origin of Species (1859), Charles Darwin apologized for not correctly referencing all the works cited in his magnum opus. More than 150 years later we have catalogued these citations and analyzed the resultant data.
