Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is an inflammatory cytokine that plays a crucial role in regulating both innate and cell-mediated immune responses by binding to a receptor complex made up of IFNGR1 and IFNGR2. In this study, the complete cDNA of IFN-γ and IFNGR1 from Nibea albiflora were cloned and functionally characterized (named NaIFN-γ and NaIFNGR1), whose complete cDNA sequences were 1593 bp and 2792 bp, encoding 201 and 399 amino acids, respectively. Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis showed that the concluded amino acids sequences of NaIFN-γ and NaIFNGR1 shared high identity with their teleost orthologues including the IFN-γ signature and nuclear localization signal (NLS) motif in NaIFN-γ and FN Ⅲ domain in NaIFNGR1.

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (Igf1) is known to promote ovarian maturation by interacting with other hormones. However, the limited research on the role of Igf1 in the energy metabolism supply of gonads has hindered further exploration. To explore the role of Igf1 in gonadal development of silver pomfret, we analyzed the expression levels and the localization of igf1 mRNA and protein during testicular and ovarian development of silver pomfret.

The extant marine mussels which belong to the Mytiloidea are widespread species inhabiting mostly coastal waters, with some distributed in the deep sea. To clarify the classification systems and phylogenetic relationships range from genus to family level within Mytiloidea, new sequence was used in a phylogenetic analysis including all the available Mytiloidea mitochondrial genomes. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Vignadula atrata is 15,624 bp in length and contains 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs, atp8 is absent), two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes.

Congenital immunity mediated by Toll-like receptor (TLR) family is the first line of defense for disease-resistant immunity of fish and plays a vital role as a bridge between innate immunity and acquired immunity. As a less known member of the TLR family TLR13 can participate in the immune and inflammatory reactions of the body for recognizing the conserved sequence of 23S rRNA in bacteria and induce immune response. In this study, the full-length cDNA of TLR13 from Nibea albiflora (named as NaTLR13) was cloned and was functionally characterized.

Insulin-like growth factor 3 plays an important role in gonad development in teleost fish. Previous studies found that igf3 was specifically expressed in gonads of silver pomfret (Pampus argenteus). Unlike in other fish, IGF3 is a membrane protein in silver pomfret, and its specific role in gonads is unclear.

To further understand the origin and evolution of Patellogastropoda, we determined the mitochondrial genome sequence of , and compared its mitogenome characteristics with the other four limpets of Nacellidae. The ratio of Ka and Ks indicated that these Nacellidae species were suffering a purifying selection, with exception of the gene. The gene sequence is basically consistent among families, while there are great differences among Lottidae species.

Neonicotinoid insecticides are widely and exceedingly applied in farmlands worldwide and are ubiquitous in various environments, including surface water, soil, river sediments, etc. However, few studies reported neonicotinoid residues in the marine environment. Considering the large application of neonicotinoids in China, here, we collected marine sediments in offshore and far sea areas of the East China Sea, including the Hangzhou Bay and the area along the Zhejiang Province coast, and measured the concentrations of nine commercialized neonicotinoids.

Following the global phase out of perfluorooctane sulfate (PFOS), chlorinated polyfluoroalkyl ether sulfonates (Cl-PFAESs) and p-perfluorous nonenoxybenzenesulfonate (PFNOBS) have emerged as novel PFOS substitutes. However, until now, limited data is available on their occurrence and environmental behaviors in the marine environment. Here, seawater and sediment samples were collected from East China Sea and analyzed for Cl-PFAESs, PFNOBS, and perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs; including their branched isomers) to investigate their concentrations, potential sources, and sediment-seawater partitioning behaviors.

As global climate changes, mass mortality in farmed fish associated with the severely cold weather has aroused growing concerns. Yellow drum (Nibea albiflora) is an important maricultured fish in China, whereby its aquaculture suffered from overwinter mortality associated with cold and cold-induced-fasting stresses. Here, by using LC-MS metabolomics combined with transcriptomics, we investigated the physiological responses of yellow drum liver to cold and starvation stresses.

The yellow drum (Nibea albiflora) is an economically important maricultured fish in China, but the aquaculture of this species has recently been limited by an increase in overwinter mortalities associated with cold and starvation stress due to global climate changes. To better understand the interaction between starvation and cold-stress-driven overwinter mortality, we investigated the effects of these stresses on the growth performance, liver lesions, and immune response of yellow drum fish. The fish were subjected to different cold treatments and under starvation stress.
