Scimitar syndrome is characterised by right lung hypoplasia and abnormal pulmonary venous return, known as the 'scimitar vein'. We report the case of an infant girl with scimitar syndrome who developed a severe respiratory distress mimicking asthma. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) was diagnosed, attributed to scimitar vein stenosis and a left-to-right shunt.

Purpose: The aim is to present a case of in situ fenestrated thoracic endovascular repair, using a re-entry peripheral catheter, needing urgent repair due to recurrent episodes of hemoptysis because of an aorto-bronchial fistula after previous thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR).
Technique: A 74-year-old male with a previous TEVAR presented with hemoptysis, fever, and cachexia. An aorto-bronchial fistula and type Ia endoleak were depicted on computed tomography angiography (CTA).

Triage, a medical term derived from the French word "trier", is the practical process of sorting casualties to rationally allocate limited resources. In combat settings with limited medical resources and long transportation times, triage is challenging since the objectives are to avoid overcrowding medical treatment facilities while saving a maximum of soldiers and to get as many of them back into action as possible. The new face of modern warfare, asymmetric and non-conventional, has led to the integrative evolution of triage into the theatre of operations.

Desmoid tumors are rare benign monoclonal fibroblastic tumors. Their aggressiveness is local with no potential for metastasis or dedifferentiation. Here we report on a 61-year-old patient who presented a locally advanced breast desmoid tumor diagnosed 20 years after post-operative radiotherapy for breast carcinoma.

Objective: The aims of the present study were to investigate the role of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) in the diagnosis of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), and to identify specific clinical settings in which this procedure can be recommended.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and pathological files of patients having undergone EBUS-TBNA from February 2011 to October 2014 to investigate thoracic lesions. Among 736 patients, we identified four of them with a diagnosis of MPM achieved primarily through EBUS-TBNA.

Aims: Angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma (AFH) is a rare neoplastic disease usually occurring in the dermis or subcutis of the extremities of young adults or children. Although sporadic cases in deep soft tissue and visceral organs have been reported, we present here the first description of AFH developing in a large artery.
Methods And Results: Paraffin sections of the surgical specimen were stained with haematoxylin and eosin, and immunohistochemistry was performed (CKAE1/AE3, EMA, CD34, p63, CD38, smooth muscle actin, and desmin).

To assess the histological bases of lymphadenomegaly, which has been reported as a frequent radiological finding in pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD), we have reviewed pulmonary and mediastinal lymph nodes resected during lung transplantations in 19 patients suffering from PVOD and related pulmonary capillary haemangiomatosis (PCH). Lymphatic congestion was common and was often obvious in subsegmental and segmental lymph nodes. Vascular transformation of the sinuses, intra-sinusal haemorrhage with erythrophagocytosis and lymphoid follicular hyperplasia were frequent especially in lobar, hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes.

A 43 year old woman presented with two large bilateral tumours of the first ribs that compressed the right subclavian vessels, trachea and oesophagus and led to right arm oedema, severe dyspnoea and dysphagia. The resected tumours showed typical histological features of fibrous dysplasia without malignant transformation. The right tumour weighed 1.
