Primary cutaneous CD4-positive small or medium T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder (PCSM-LPD) is characterized by a slow-growing and asymptomatic solitary plaque or tumor, usually involving the head, neck, or upper extremities. The diagnosis is established based on clinical presentation, histopathological features including pleomorphic morphology and CD4-positive immunophenotype of neoplastic T lymphocytes, and molecular analysis showing clonally rearranged T-cell receptor (TCR) genes. Plaques typical of mycosis fungoides are essentially absent.

Multiple autoimmune syndrome is a manifestation of polyautoimmunity with the co-occurrence of three or more autoimmune diseases in a single patient. We report a unique case of a 55-year-old female patient that presented with four autoimmune diseases: autoimmune thyroid disease, vitiligo, morphea, and lichen sclerosus. She was evaluated for progression of morphea and lichen sclerosus, and we confirmed histopathological overlapping of these two diseases in the same lesion.

Skin warts are ubiquitous, self-limiting, benign neoplasms caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). Several studies have investigated the prevalence and diversity of HPV types in the three main types of skin warts: common, plantar, and flat warts. Using different methodological approaches and diverse populations, several HPV types were detected in skin warts, but often the etiological link remained unconfirmed.

Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 (CIN2) is an intermediate stage between CIN 1, which is a low-grade lesion, and CIN3, which is the immediate precursor of cervical cancer (CC). Traditionally, CIN2 was regarded as a high-grade lesion and was treated with conization or ablative methods. In recent years, there has been a shift in the management of younger patients, who are now more often being managed conservatively due to frequent spontaneous CIN2 regression and possible adverse effects of treatment on future pregnancies.

Human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are etiologically associated with various benign and malignant neoplasms of cutaneous and mucosal epithelia. We describe an improved diagnostic protocol for comprehensive characterization of causative HPV types in common warts, in which broad-spectrum PCRs followed by Sanger sequencing, two previously described and seven newly developed type-specific quantitative real-time PCRs (qPCRs) coupled with the human beta-globin qPCR were used for: (i) diagnosis of HPV infection in warts; (ii) estimation of cellular viral loads of all HPV types detected; and (iii) determination of their etiological role in 128 histologically confirmed fresh-frozen common wart tissue samples. A total of 12 different causative HPV types were determined in 122/126 (96.

Background And Purpose: Health risks associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection are undisputed. Moreover, the capability of vaccination to prevent symptomatic, severe, and fatal COVID-19 is recognized. There is also early evidence that vaccination can reduce the chance for long COVID-19.

We present a case report of a 64-year-old female patient with a 5-year history of a digital papule that clinically mimicked a common wart but was histologically diagnosed as digital squamous cell carcinoma (DSCC), a rare malignant cutaneous entity etiologically associated with high-risk human papillomaviruses (HR HPVs). This DSCC was positive for HPV73, which is currently classified under possible human carcinogens and has already been identified in DSCCs. Treatment with electrocoagulation and subsequent total excision with safety margins was successful, and no recurrence was detected during 6 years of follow-up.

Enterobiasis is the most common parasite infestation in children; it is often asymptomatic and may rarely be a cause of skin eruption. We present the case of a 7-year-old boy with sudden onset of pruritic erythemato-squamous confluent papules and plaques on UV-exposed skin, caused by proven enterobiasis. To our understanding, this is the first case of photodermatosis-like dermatitis caused by enterobiasis reported in the literature.

The objective of study was to evaluate a case series of patients in whom polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cages were used for anterior column reconstruction in vertebral osteomyelitis. Fifteen patients underwent clinical and radiological evaluation with average follow-up of 26 months. Parameters assessed were time of surgery, blood loss, segmental kyphosis or lordosis angle, time to solid bony fusion, ambulatory status, and functional outcome.

A 72-year-old female patient presented with an end-stage renal disease on on-line hemodiafiltration and warfarin therapy with advanced ulcerated calciphylaxis on the lower extremities, complicated by two episodes of cellulitis. She was successfully treated for 8 months with intravenous sodium thiosulfate in combination with modification of medication and dialysis treatment, careful wound care, and other supportive measures. Calciphylaxis is an uncommon life-threatening systemic disease, mostly occurring in patients with chronic kidney disease and other risk factors.

Autoimmune diseases may also be reflected in changes in the oral cavity that represent the first sign of the disease, or they may occur simultaneously with or later in the course of the disease. Oral findings are mostly non-specific, and therefore further investigations are needed to exclude or confirm possible diagnoses. This article presents the most important diseases in this research area, divides them into meaningful groups, and highlights the importance of examining the oral cavity for possible manifestations.

Background: The knowledge on viral respiratory infections in nursing home (NH) residents and their caregivers is limited. The purpose of the present study was to assess and compare the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in nursing home (NH) residents and staff, to identify viruses involved in ARI and to correlate viral etiology with clinical manifestations of ARI.
Methods: The prospective surveillance study was accomplished in a medium-sized NH in Slovenia (central Europe).

Zinc deficiency can be an autosomal recessive inherited or acquired disorder and is classically characterized by acral and periorificial dermatitis, alopecia, and diarrhea. We report a case of acquired zinc deficiency in a premature 6-week-old boy with typical skin manifestation of zinc deficiency and decreased plasma zinc level. After starting zinc replacement therapy, the skin lesions completely disappeared in the first few weeks.

Warts are benign epithelial proliferations of the skin and mucosa caused by infection with human papilloma viruses (HPV). Plane warts are mainly caused by HPV-3 and HPV-10. There is no single treatment that is absolutely effective, and different types of treatment may be combined.

Pathological conditions of the hymen are rare in everyday medical practice. They are usually encountered in the pediatric patient population and are sometimes a matter of forensic interest. We report an interesting case of a large hymenal polyp in an adolescent virgin that presented only a cosmetic problem.
