Physical activity of a sufficient amount and intensity is essential to health and the prevention of a sedentary lifestyle in all children as they transition into adolescence and adulthood. While fostering a fit lifestyle in all children can be challenging, it may be even more so for those with cerebral palsy (CP). Evidence suggests that bone and muscle health can improve with targeted exercise programs for children with CP.

, a northern Great Lakes endemic, is a rare species known from 165 occurrences across Lakes Michigan and Huron in the United States and Canada. Due to multiple factors, including habitat loss, lack of seed dispersal, patterns of reproduction, and forest succession, the species is threatened. Early population genetic studies using isozymes and allozymes recovered no to limited genetic variation within the species.

is a genus of biotechnologically important bacteria adapted to thrive in a wide range of environmental conditions including the marine sediments. Here, we screened and isolated a strain from the Bagamoyo marine mangrove-inhabited sediments and then employed whole genome sequencing to recover and define its full genome. -assembly with Unicycler (v.

The investigation utilizes numerical analysis based on moment-curvature and deformation analysis of typical beam and column sections in a special moment frame. The results indicate that the use of higher grade reinforcement, such as Grade 550 or 690, results in lower strain demands in the plastic hinge regions compared to Grade 420 reinforcement.

Introduction: Racial and ethnic disparities in the management of adult patients with blunt splenic injuries (BSIs) have been previously demonstrated. It is unknown if similar disparities exist in pediatric patients with BSIs. Management of BSIs can include operative management, but nonoperative management (NOM) is preferred.

Introduction: We examined neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) and psychotropic medication use in a large sample of individuals with early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD; onset 40-64 years) at the midway point of data collection for the Longitudinal Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease Study (LEADS).
Methods: Baseline NPS (Neuropsychiatric Inventory - Questionnaire; Geriatric Depression Scale) and psychotropic medication use from 282 participants enrolled in LEADS were compared across diagnostic groups - amyloid-positive EOAD (n = 212) and amyloid negative early-onset non-Alzheimer's disease (EOnonAD; n = 70).
Results: Affective behaviors were the most common NPS in EOAD at similar frequencies to EOnonAD.

Introduction: Community advisory boards (CABs) and researcher partnerships present a promising opportunity to accelerate enrollment of underrepresented groups (URGs). We outline the framework for how the CAB and researchers at the Indiana Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (IADRC) partnered to accelerate URG participation in AD neuroimaging research.
Methods: CAB and the IADRC researchers partnered to increase the CAB's impact on URG study enrollment through community and research interactions.

Background: In 2021, federal rules from the 21st Century Cures Act mandated most clinical notes be made available in real-time, online, and free of charge to patients, a practice often referred to as "open notes." This legislation was passed to support medical information transparency and reinforce trust in the clinician-patient relationship; however, it created additional complexities in that relationship and raises questions of what should be included in notes intended to be read by both clinicians and patients.
Main Body: Even prior to open notes, how an ethics consultant should document a clinical ethics consultation was widely debated as there can be competing interests, differing moral values, and disagreement about pertinent medical information in any given encounter.

Global loss of the neuropeptide Neuromedin-U (NMU) is associated with increased bone formation and high bone mass in male and female mice by twelve weeks of age, suggesting that NMU suppresses osteoblast differentiation and/or activity in vivo. NMU is highly expressed in numerous anatomical locations including the skeleton and the hypothalamus. This raises the possibility that NMU exerts indirect effects on bone remodeling from an extra-skeletal location such as the brain.

Ceramide glucosyltransferase (CGT) adds sugar moieties to ceramide, forming glucosylceramides that play roles in immune signaling, stress response, and host-bacterial interactions. Here, we examined whether mutations in block the beneficial effects of on lifespan. We found that loss of or reduces lifespan compared to wildtype worms, but did not prevent the lifespan-extending phenotype of .
