Wettability measurements were performed for aqueous dispersions of native and modified corn, potato, and pea starch granules deposited on glass plates by the thin layer method using test liquids of a different chemical nature (polar water and formamide or non-polar diiodomethane). High values of the determination coefficient confirm that the linear regression model describes the relationship between the wetting time and the square of the penetration distance very well, indicating the linear nature of the Washburn relationship. A change in free energy (enthalpy) during the movement of the liquid in the porous layer was determined for all starches before and after modification in contact with test liquids.

With the help of electrochemical methods, including CV and EIS, the influence of methimazole, carbimazole, and the concentration of the supporting electrolyte on the kinetics and mechanism of zinc electroreduction on a mercury electrode was compared and analyzed. Moreover, molecular dynamics simulations of zinc/carbimazole and zinc/methimazole solutions were carried out to determine the effect of drugs on the hydration sphere of Zn ions. It was shown that the electroreduction of Zn in the presence of methimazole and carbimazole occurs in two steps and the first one determines the kinetics of the entire process.

Plants plastically alter their metabolism in response to environmental stimuli, which induces changes in the accumulation of specialized metabolites. This ability can be utilized to manipulate plant phytochemistry in a desired direction. However, the abundance of secondary metabolites in the different plant species, especially medicinal, is enormous; therefore, it is difficult to establish a clear direction for the effects of metabolic modulators on phytochemical composition, especially given the possibility of using different types thereof.

Dimethyl 2-[2-(1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)hydrazinylidene]butanedioate (DIHB) and 8-(3-chlorophenyl)-2,6,7,8-tetrahydroimidazo[2,1-c][1,2,4]triazine-3,4-dione (HDIT) are promising candidates for anticancer agents, the first analytical procedures of which are presented in this paper. The commercially available unmodified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used as a sensor for the individual and simultaneous differential pulse voltammetric (DPV) determination of these possible anticancer drugs. The findings concerning the electrochemical behaviour indicated that DIHB and HDIT display at GCE, as a sensor, the oxidation peaks at 1.

Two-dimensional heterostructures, characterized by a twist angle between individual sublayers, offer unique and tunable properties distinct from standalone layers. These structures typically introduce a realm of exotic quantum phenomena due to the appearance of new, long range periodicities associated with Moiré superlattices. Using molecular beam epitaxy, we demonstrate the growth of bi-allotropic 2D-Sb heterostructures on a W(110) substrate composed of twisted α (α-Sb) and β (β-Sb) phases of antimonene.
