The presented studies were aimed at determining the interactions in model membranes (Langmuir monolayers) created of phospholipids (PL) isolated from bacteria cultured with (PL + choline) or without (PL - choline) choline and to describe the impact of an antimicrobial peptide, human cathelicidin LL-37, on PL's monolayer behavior. The addition of choline to the growth medium influenced the mutual proportions of phospholipids extracted from . Four classes of phospholipids-phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), cardiolipin (CL), and their mixtures-were used to register compression isotherms with or without the LL-37 peptide in the subphase.

This longitudinal study examined the early effects of type 1 diabetes on bone mechanical properties and metabolic markers in mature rats, focusing on the natural progression of diabetes-induced changes without external treatments. : Forty-eight 8-month-old male Wistar rats were divided into two groups, with one group receiving a single dose of streptozotocin (STZ, 60 mg/kg). Assessments were performed 2, 4, and 8 weeks post-administration, including serum biochemical analyses, bone marker assessments, and mechanical bone tests.

The voltammetric acyclovir (ACV) trace-level determination procedure has been introduced. This is the first time that a commercially available boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE) coupled with differential-pulse voltammetry (DPV) has been used for this purpose. The commercially available BDDE is characterized by a short response time, low background current, and very good analytical parameters of ACV determination.

In this study, a developed wheat flour blend (F), consisting of a high content of non-starch polysaccharides, was fortified with cellulase (C) and a cellulase-xylanase complex (CX) and then processed via conventional and hybrid treatment methods. Dry heating (T), hydrothermal treatment (H) and extrusion processing (E) were applied without or with enzyme addition as hybrid treatments. Proximate composition and polysaccharide profiles selected techno-functional and structural properties of modified wheat flours, were analyzed.

Introduction: The adulteration of wax foundation is, for many reasons, a growing problem of modern beekeeping not only in Europe but also around the world. Wax foundation contaminated with stearin addition leads to a brood die-off, while paraffin addition negatively affects the strength of combs. It is tenable that such adulterated wax foundation reduces bees' immunity.

Two-dimensional materials composed of elements from the 15th group of the periodic table remain largely unexplored. The primary challenge in advancing this research is the lack of large-scale layers that would facilitate extensive studies using laterally averaging techniques and enable functionalization for the fabrication of novel electronic, optoelectronic, and spintronic devices. In this report, we present a method for synthesizing large-scale antimonene layers, on the order of cm.

In this work, new sorbents for the purification of anthocyanin-rich extracts were evaluated. Copolymers of 4-vinylpyridine crosslinked with trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (poly(4VP-co-TRIM)) or 1,4-dimethacryloyloxybenzene (poly(4VP-co-14DMB)) were tested for their potential to capture polyphenols. Copolymers were obtained by seed swelling polymerization in the form of microspheres with permanent porous structure - attractive features of sorbents used for sample purification by dispersive solid phase extraction.

The preparation of biocarbons from cellulose fibres utilised in the production of baby nappy mats (sourced from Feniks Recycling company, Poland) for the removal of methylene blue and rhodamine B dyes has been documented. A Brunauer, Emmett and Teller analysis revealed a surface area within the range of 384 to 450 m/g. The objective of this study was to investigate the removal efficiency of dyes from aqueous solutions by biocarbons, with a particular focus on the influence of various parameters, including pH, dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, shaking speed, contact time, and temperature.

In both developed and developing countries, atmospheric pollution with particulate matter (PM) remains an important issue. Despite the health effects of poor air quality, studies on air pollution are often limited by the high costs of continuous monitoring and the need for extensive sampling. Furthermore, these particles are often enriched with potentially toxic trace elements and organic pollutants.

The aim of this work was the characterization of polymer microspheres obtained by the suspension polymerization of divinylbenzene (DVB) and glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), depending on the pore-forming diluents and molar ratio of monomers. The assessed properties included the chemical and porous structure, thermal stability, and sorption capacity of the obtained polymers towards methylene blue. The abovementioned characteristic was carried out for two series of copolymers with molar ratios of monomers of 1:2, 1:1 and 2:1, synthetized with toluene and a mixture of decanol and benzyl alcohol.

Fe-modified Cu catalysts with CeO support, prepared by the impregnation method, were subjected to physicochemical analysis and catalytic tests in the steam reforming of methanol (SRM). Physicochemical studies of the catalysts were carried out using the XRF, TEM, STEM-EDS, XRD, TPR and nitrogen adsorption/desorption methods. XRD, TEM studies and catalytic tests of the catalysts were carried out at two reduction temperatures, 260 °C and 400 °C, to determine the relationship between the form and oxidation state of the active phase of the catalysts and the catalytic properties of these systems in the SRM.
