Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a long-term brain disorder that worsens over time. A cholinesterase inhibitor called Donepezil HCl (DNZ) is used to treat and control AD. Due to its failure to reach the appropriate concentration in the brain cells, its efficacy upon oral administration is limited, and thus investigation of alternative administration route is necessary.

Background: US FDA defines: dietary supplements is a product that intended to supplement a person's diet, it's generally consist of at least one or more of the following dietary ingredients, vitamin, minerals, a herb or other botanical and amino acid by increasing the daily consumptions of an extract metabolite concentration, constitute or combinations of these medication. Excessive and inappropriate use of medicines has been recognised as a public health problem resulting in increased likelihood of adverse drug event, drug interaction, and inappropriate drug prescribing and increased cost.

Material And Methods: This was the cross-sectional study conducted in year 2022 at Pimpri Chinchwad (Pune).

Objective: Alzheimer's disease, a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, severely impacts cognitive function and daily living. The current treatment provides only symptomatic relief, and thus, disease-modifying therapies targeting underlying causes are needed. Although several potential therapies are in various stages of clinical trials, bringing a new Alzheimer's drug to market remains challenging.

Investigation of cell-accelerated corrosion (CAC) on the CoCrMo alloy with segregation banding: Hip implant applications.

J Mech Behav Biomed Mater

April 2024

Regenerative Medicine and Disability Research (RMDR) Lab, Department of Biomedical Sciences, UICOM, Rockford, IL, USA. Electronic address:

Metal alloy microstructure plays a crucial role in corrosion associated with total hip replacement (THR). THR is a prominent strategy that uses metal implants such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloys due to their advantageous biological and mechanical properties. Despite all benefits, these implants undergo corrosion and wear processes in-vivo in a synergistic manner called tribocorrosion.

Nanoscale drug delivery systems have provoked interest for application in various therapies on account of their ability to elevate the intracellular concentration of drugs inside target cells, which leads to an increase in efficacy, a decrease in dose, and dose-associated adverse effects. There are several types of nanoparticles available; however, core-shell nanoparticles outperform bare nanoparticles in terms of their reduced cytotoxicity, high dispersibility and biocompatibility, and improved conjugation with drugs and biomolecules because of better surface characteristics. These nanoparticulate drug delivery systems are used for targeting a number of organs, such as the colon, brain, lung, etc.

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to develop nanostructured lipid carriers of donepezil hydrochloride (DNZ HCl) for effective management of Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Significance: Intranasal administration of DNZ NLC containing oil as a liquid lipid may significantly improve nasal penetration and deliver the drug directly to the brain avoiding blood brain barrier (BBB).

Method: High pressure homogenization was used to prepare nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs), followed by ultrasonication.

Neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia, epilepsy, depression, migraine etc. are affecting more and more elderly people's day by day. Conventional route of administration to treat these diseases has to face a major hindrance that is blood brain and blood- (CSF) barrier to achieve desired concentration of drug at the site of action for therapeutic effect.

A large number of hydrophilic and hydrophobic carriers in pharmaceutical excipients are available today which are used for formulation of solid dispersions. Depending on nature of carriers the immediate release solid dispersions and/or controlled release solid dispersions can be formulated. Initially crystalline carriers were used which are transformed into amorphous solid dispersions with enhanced properties.

The purpose of this research was to develop cubosomal mucoadhesive nasal gel to enhance the donepezil HCl delivery to the brain. Glycerol mono-oleate (GMO) and surfactant poloxamer 407 were used to prepare cubosomes. The developed formulations were characterized for particle size (PS), poly dispersity index (PDI), zeta potential (ZP), entrapment efficiency (EE), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), drug release and bio-distribution study in blood and brain tissue.

In this study, we have developed a gold nanoparticle based simple, rapid lateral flow assay (LFA) for detection of Indian Cobra venom (CV) and Russell's viper venom (RV). Presently, there is no rapid, reliable, and field diagnostic test available in India, where snake bite cases are rampant. Therefore, this test has an immense potential from the public health point of view.

Aim: The aim of the present study is to develop an optimize bilayered tablet using Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) as a model drug candidate using quality by design (QbD) approach.

Introduction And Method: The bilayered tablet gives biphasic drug release through loading dose; prepared using croscarmellose sodium a superdisintegrant and maintenance dose using several viscosity grades of hydrophilic polymers. The fundamental principle of QbD is to demonstrate understanding and control of pharmaceutical processes so as to deliver high quality pharmaceutical products with wide opportunities for continuous improvement.

The present study was designed to investigate the effect of Rubia cordifolia (Rubiaceae) against experimentally induced gastric ulcer and compare activity with its fractions by employing aspirin plus pylorus-ligated ulcer screening model in Wistar rats. Total acidity, volume of gastric acid secretion, total acid output, and pepsin activity show significant reduction, when compared with the control group. The present study confirmed that chloroform fraction showed the significant activity at lower doses compared to parent extract.
