Aims: To assess the relationships between urate-lowering therapy (ULT) initiation with all-cause mortality in patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).

Methods: This nationwide retrospective cohort study involved patients with T2D and asymptomatic hyperuricemia from 19 academic hospitals across China between 2000 and 2021. The primary exposure was ULT initiation, including allopurinol, febuxostat, or benzbromarone.

Real-world effectiveness of early insulin therapy on the incidence of cardiovascular events in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes.

Early insulin therapy is capable to achieve glycemic control and restore β-cell function in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes (T2D), but its effect on cardiovascular outcomes in these patients remains unclear. In this nationwide real-world study, we analyzed electronic health record data from 19 medical centers across China between 1 January 2000, and 26 May 2022. We included 5424 eligible patients (mean age 56 years, 2176 women/3248 men) who were diagnosed T2D within six months and did not have prior cardiovascular disease.

Endovascular treatment of embolism-related acute basilar artery occlusion stroke: ADAPT versus stent retriever thrombectomy.

Purpose: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of a direct aspiration first-pass technique (ADAPT) and stent retriever thrombectomy (SRT) technique in embolism-related acute basilar artery occlusion (EMB-ABAO).

Methods: We collected data from patients with EMB-ABAO in multiple stroke centers from January 2017 to February 2024. We defined two groups of enrolled patients, the ADAPT group and the SRT group.

Introduction: Resistant ovary syndrome (ROS) represents a rare reproductive endocrine disorder that is predominantly associated with infertility, characterized by heightened endogenous gonadotropin levels in the presence of a normal ovarian reserve. Patients with ROS typically exhibit a poor response to exogenous gonadotropins during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS). Due to the absence of a universally accepted effective COS protocol, this study aims to contribute to the existing body of literature by detailing 2 successful pregnancies achieved through conventional in vitro fertilization (c-IVF) in patients with ROS, and through retrospective analysis, seeks to elucidate the factors contributing to the successful ovarian stimulation in these cases, with the ultimate goal of establishing clinical guidelines for ROS management.

Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitors vs. metformin for new-onset dementia: a propensity score-matched cohort study.

Background: Hypoglycemic pharmacotherapy interventions for alleviating the risk of dementia remains controversial, particularly about dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) inhibitors versus metformin. Our objective was to investigate whether the initiation of DPP4 inhibitors, as opposed to metformin, was linked to a reduced risk of dementia.

Methods: We included individuals with type 2 diabetes over 40 years old who were new users of DPP4 inhibitors or metformin in the Chinese Renal Disease Data System (CRDS) database between 2009 and 2020.

The study focuses on the association between serum carotenoids and cancer-related death. Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2001-2006 and 2017-2018), the study encompasses 10,277 participants older than age 20 years, with recorded baseline characteristics and serum carotenoid concentrations (including α-carotene, trans-β-carotene, cis-β-carotene, β-cryptoxanthin, trans-lycopene, and lutein/zeaxanthin). We hypothesized that serum carotenoid concentrations were negatively associated with cancer-related death.

Background: Lenvatinib plus programmed death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors (LEN-P) have been recommended in China for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, they provide limited survival benefits to patients with extrahepatic metastases. We aimed to investigate whether combining hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) with LEN-P could improve its efficacy.

It is not clear whether vitamin D3 supplementation attenuates GVB damage via regulation of S100B/ADAM10 pathway.

Objectives: This study aimed to create and validate a radiomics nomogram for non-invasive preoperative Ki-67 expression level prediction in patients with bladder cancer (BCa) using contrast-enhanced CT radiomics features.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 135 patients was conducted, 79 of whom had high levels of Ki-67 expression and 56 of whom had low levels.
