Background: Endoplasmic reticulum stress with protein misfolding has been introduced as a key pathogenetic mechanism in lupus nephritis (LN). Pregnancy is thought to exaggerate proteostasis, which leads to the accumulation of potentially pathogenic misfolded proteins in the urine, serum, and placenta particularly in women with preeclampsia. The detection of misfolded proteins is made using Congo red stain, which is referred to as congophilia.

This multicentre retrospective study was conducted in 3 university hospitals in Egypt between April 2020 and June 2022. The aim was to assess the relation between Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) and ischemic priapism. Forty-three ischemic priapism patients were diagnosed and divided into two groups (30 in group I with ischemic priapism only, and 13 in group II with both ischemic priapism and COVID-19).

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of intravesical instillation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to treat interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS).
Materials And Methods: Twenty PRP samples were tested in vitro for stability after exposure to urine samples with different pH. A pilot study involving 21 female patients with IC/BPS was conducted, and 6 weekly doses of autologous PRP (50 mL) were administered.

Background: The differentiation between preeclampsia and similarly presenting kidney disease in pregnancy is a diagnostic challenge. Although some laboratory tests have been utilized, globally validated tools are yet needed, particularly in resource-limited settings. Congophilic proteins are abundantly detected in the urine of pregnant women who develop preeclampsia that is thought to be a marker of disease process.

Introduction: Unintentional injury is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in children. There is no consensus on the ideal, discrete management of pediatric renal trauma (PRT). Therefore, management protocols tend to be institution-specific.

Introduction And Objectives: Wilms' tumor (WT) relapse occurs in 15% of patients. We aim to investigate the association between the expression of several genetic markers and WT relapse risk.
Materials And Methods: The study included 51 children treated for WT at a tertiary center between 2001 and 2019: 23 patients had disease relapse (group A) and 28 remained relapse-free after at least 2 years of follow-up (group B).

Introduction And Objectives: The management of bilateral ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) is greatly debated. We aim to identify the risk of early postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in relation to the sequence of intervention in children with bilateral UPJO managed in a sequential manner.
Methods: A single center database was retrospectively reviewed for children ≤2 years who underwent bilateral pyeloplasty.

Purpose: We investigated the efficacy and safety of fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, for treating refractory primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis in children.
Materials And Methods: Children 8-18 years old with severe primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis unresponsive to alarm therapy, desmopressin, and anticholinergics were screened for eligibility. After excluding children with daytime urinary symptoms, constipation, underlying urological, neuropsychiatric, endocrinological, or cardiac conditions, patients were randomly and equally assigned to 10 mg fluoxetine once daily or placebo for 12 weeks.

Background: Patients with spina bifida are at risk for developing bladder and renal deterioration secondary to increased bladder storage pressures.
Objectives: To determine the association of home bladder volume and pressure measurements (home manometry) to: 1) detrusor storage pressures on urodynamics (UDS); and 2) the presence of Society of Fetal Urology (SFU) grades 3-4 hydronephrosis on renal bladder ultrasound in patients with spina bifida.
Methods: Data were prospectively collected on patients with spina bifida and neurogenic bladder requiring clean intermittent catheterization.

Patients with CKD have a 4-fivefold higher rate of fractures. The incidence of fractures increases with deterioration of kidney function. The process of skeletal changes in CKD patients is characterized by compromised bone strength because of deterioration of bone quantity and/or quality.

In the process of urinary stone formation, several heavy metals and trace elements (HMTE) have been identified among the major constituents of the calculi. The micro-elements within the stones cannot be identified by ordinary laboratory analytical techniques, the latter can only detect the major crystalline component. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the different types of HMTE (no.

Background: Metanephric adenoma (MA) is a rare benign renal tumor that resembles renal cell carcinoma and Wilms' tumor in radiological as well as pathological appearance. It can present at any age or gender, and it is extremely rare in the pediatric age group with less than 50 reported cases. Fanconi-Bickel syndrome (FBS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder of carbohydrate metabolism.

Introduction And Objectives: We aim to assess the long-term oncological outcomes of children with bladder/prostate rhabdomyosarcoma (B/P RMS) treated with multiagent chemotherapy as a monotherapy. We hypothesize that a highly select patient subset can be treated with multiagent chemotherapy as a monotherapy and spared the morbidity of local treatment with similar oncological outcomes.
Methods: Patients (≤21-year-old) treated for non-metastatic non-alveolar B/P RMS at a tertiary center and followed for>one year, were retrospectively reviewed.

The present study aimed to investigate the invitro preconditioning of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) with CD44-targeted hyalournic acid (HA) on ischemic kidney injury in rats. Ninety male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly allocated into the following groups; i) sham group, ii) control group: rats exposed to 45 min left renal ischemia with saline treatment, iii) HA group as control group but rats treated with HA, iv) ADMSCs group as control but rats treated with ADMSCs v) HA + ADMSCs group as ADMSCs but rats treated with ADMSCs preconditioned with CD44-tageted HA for 14 days. We found that treattment with either ADMSCs or HA + ADMSCs caused significant decrease in the elevated serum creatinine and BUN and malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations and expression of TGF-β1, fibronectin, collagen type I, inducible nitric oxide synthease (iNOS) and microRNAs (miR-21, miR-17-5p, miR-10a) in kidney and significant increase in creatinine clearance, superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH) and the expression of Bcl2, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), Wnt/β-catenin pathway genes in kidney compared to control group (p < 0.

Objective Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is a common finding in the pediatric population with the risk of repeated infections and renal damage. There is little is known about the natural history of primary bilateral high-grade reflux. Herein we present our experience in the management of primary high-grade bilateral VUR and the long-term outcome of renal function in this specific group of patients.
