Effect of relocation after a natural disaster in Armenia: 20-year follow-up.

Background: This study is a 20-year follow-up of individual's relocated from their home after the devastating earthquake in Armenia in 1988.

Methods: Ninety-seven subjects who were exposed to the earthquake and thirty-seven subjects who were not exposed to the earthquake were administered the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL 90) and the UCLA PTSD Reaction in 2008. The exposed subjects comprised three groups: subjects who stayed in the earthquake city; those who relocated and returned; and a group who left permanently but were visiting family at the time of the study.

Children's psychological adjustment following parental separation or divorce is a function of the characteristics of the custodial parent, as well as the degree of postdivorce parental cooperation. Over time, custody has shifted from fathers to mothers and currently to joint arrangements. In this retrospective chart review of family court clinic records we examined predictors of custody and visitation.

A home healthcare and school of pharmacy partnership to reduce falls.

Much emphasis has been placed on the impact of falls among older adults, and the relationship between polypharmacy and falls in community-dwelling elders. As home healthcare agencies' critical role in the continuum of care is recognized, so is the responsibility for ensuring that quality patient outcomes are achieved resulting in reduced hospitalizations. As we examined the factors involved in falls and hospitalizations with our home care population, it became evident that the pharmacist plays a critical role in helping to ensure that risk factors associated with falls are minimized through a thorough medication therapy review, completed in collaboration with the case manager and the physician.

Linguistic validation of the US Spanish work productivity and activity impairment questionnaire, general health version.

Introduction: There are no measures of health-related absenteeism and presenteeism validated for use in the large and increasing US Spanish-speaking population. Before using a Spanish translation of an available English-language questionnaire, the linguistic validity of the Spanish version must be established to ensure its conceptual equivalence to the original and its cultural appropriateness.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the linguistic validity of the US Spanish version of the Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaire, General Health Version (WPAI:GH).
