Assessing diaphragm function status is vital for diagnosing and treating acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Diaphrag-matic ultrasound has become increasingly important due to its non-invasive nature, absence of radiation exposure, widespread availability, prompt results, high accuracy, and repeatability at the bedside. The diaphragm is a crucial respiratory muscle.

This case report presents a 53-year-old female patient with a history of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) who developed chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) following an allogeneic bone marrow transplant, leading to significant respiratory distress and notable skin findings, including hyperpigmentation and chronic non-healing ulcers. The patient's clinical course illustrates the diverse manifestations of cGVHD, emphasizing the importance of recognizing that not all febrile episodes in post-transplant patients are attributable solely to infection. A multidisciplinary approach was essential for accurate diagnosis and management, underscoring the need for comprehensive evaluation of symptoms in immunocompromised patients.

Immersion pulmonary edema, also known as swimming-induced pulmonary edema (SIPE), manifests with cough, dyspnea, hemoptysis, and hypoxemia from flash pulmonary edema after surface swimming, often in healthy young individuals with no predisposing conditions. SIPE commonly resolves spontaneously within 24-48 hours but can be fatal. Post-mortem findings demonstrate heavy, edematous lungs and frothy airways.

Limited literature reports have explored the correlation between thyroid storm and peri-myocarditis, although the precise pathophysiological underpinnings remain unclear. The pathophysiology of how thyroid storm and peri-myocarditis are associated is not clearly understood; however, unfavorable prognostic factors include atrial fibrillation and recurrent thyrotoxicosis.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening metabolic emergency traditionally associated with Type 1 diabetes but is increasingly recognized in Type 2 diabetes, particularly with the use of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors. Euglycemic DKA, characterized by near-normal blood glucose levels, is a distinct variant that has gained attention. This case report highlights a unique presentation of euglycemic DKA in a 56-year-old female with a past medical history of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who presented to the emergency department with a one-week history of chest pain.

Pacemakers have been accessible for six decades, and clearly defined criteria for pacemaker implantation have been established. Within the contemporary clinical practice, two dependable pacing platforms exist leadless pacemakers and transvenous pacemakers. The aim of this meta-analysis is to compare the safety of leadless pacemakers to transvenous pacemakers.

Background Urine culture is usually not a part of work-up for neonatal unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia; hence its prevalence remains unknown. Objective This study was done to determine the incidence of urinary tract infection (UTI) in asymptomatic newborns with prolonged unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia and to evaluate which other laboratory parameters are associated with UTIs. Method A prospective observational study where jaundiced newborns otherwise clinically well, were evaluated for UTI.
