Purpose: Nisin is a lantibiotic effective against Gram-positive microorganisms such as Streptococcus mutans. The study aimed to determine the effect of the addition of nisin to high-viscosity glass-ionomer cement (HVGIC) on its antibacterial activity, setting time, surface microhardness, and compressive strength.
Methods: 1 and 3% w/w nisin were added to HVGIC before mixing.

Understanding the apical pressure and irrigant flow patterns in root canals is crucial for safe and effective irrigation. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the flow characteristics of irrigants in root canal models with varying tapers during final irrigation by employing various needle designs, including a back-to-back double-side-vented needle, through computational fluid dynamics. The root canal model was configured as a closed geometrical cone with a simulated apical zone (size 30) and features tapers of 4%, 6%, and 8%.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common type of head and neck cancer, with a high mortality rate. There is growing evidence supporting a link between oral cancer and the microbiome. The microbiome can impact various aspects of cancer, such as pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

Local anaesthesia is the backbone of pain management. However, the administration of a local anaesthetic injection itself is considered a painful procedure and triggers fear and anxiety in the patient. A split-mouth randomised controlled crossover trial was designed to study the efficacy of an "external cold and vibrating" device in reducing discomfort during the administration of an inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) in children.

Introduction: The mandibular nerve and the mental foramen have occasionally shown variations in its anatomy. This report aims to present a case of lingual mental foramen recognised on three-dimensional cone beam computed tomographic imaging (CBCT).
Case Report: Routine Orthopantomogram (OPG) and CBCT images were evaluated to assess the status of impact third molars in a 31-year-old female who had visited the dental clinics in our institution.

Introduction: The primary aim of the study is to evaluate the morphological form of the maxillary first premolar using 2D geomorphometry and evaluate the sexually dimorphic characteristics.
Methods: The present study was carried out on standardized photographs of right Maxillary first premolar from 120 dental casts (60 male and 60 females). Twenty landmarks (based on geometric and anatomic evidence) were marked on the tooth using TPSdig software and analysed using Morpho J applying procrustes analysis and discriminant function analysis.

Fisheries and aquaculture output have exploded due to an alarming increase in consumption due to the global understanding of the nutritional advantages of fish. Inadvertently, the methods produce a massive amount of fish waste, posing a serious environmental threat. Recycling this waste has now become a major point of controversy that must be resolved.

Background: Impacted lower third molar surgeries involve trauma in a highly vascularized zone with loose connective tissue leading to inflammatory sequelae including postoperative pain, swelling, trismus and generalised oral dysfunction during the post-operative phase. In minor oral surgical procedures, an all-inclusive method to protract anaesthesia and reduce the inevitable post-operative sequelae is yet to be explored substantially.
Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of dexamethasone added to local anaesthetics in extending the depth and duration of anaesthesia and decreasing the postoperative complications after surgical removal of impacted third molars.

Background: This study compared the accuracy and speed of cephalometric analysis using an artificial intelligence web-based method and a smartphone app-based system with manual cephalometric analysis as the reference standard.
Material And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the lateral cephalograms were analysed using four methods: manual tracing, smartphone app tracing, artificial intelligence web-based automated tracing without manual landmark identification correction and artificial intelligence web-based automated tracing with manual landmark identification correction. The principal investigator obtained linear and angular cephalometric measurements to compare the accuracies of the four methods being assessed.

High viscosity glass ionomer cement (HVGIC) has been employed as a restorative material for Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART). As residual caries persist after caries removal in ART, the antibacterial activity of HVGIC gains importance. Organic and inorganic substances with antibacterial properties have been incorporated into HVGIC over the years, and their effects on the antibacterial and physical properties have been studied.

Inflammation of the gingiva is one of the most common and routine findings in dental practice. These routine appearances of inflammatory gingivae can show peculiarity when associated with an underlying systemic condition or because of reactive, benign, or malignant pathologies. This case highlights minute clinical signs of the gingiva that deviate from the routine presentation and warrant further investigations.

Background: The primary maxillary molars occasionally remain sensitive during operative procedures even post the buccal supraperiosteal injection. This could be due to the widely flared palatal roots receiving accessory innervation from the palatal nerves. Identifying inadequate anesthesia upfront using the electric pulp test (EPT) would give vital information to the clinician on the need of a supplemental palatal injection.

CBCT significantly impacts dental procedures and has brought significant reforms to our approach to diagnosis and treatment planning despite its limitations in differentiating soft tissues. It is an excellent imaging modality and quickly identifies sinus opacification and provides valuable insight into paranasal sinus pathologies, with considerably lower radiation exposure. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence of maxillary sinus abnormalities in CBCT scans, identify the frequency, type, and location of these findings, and find the correlation between the distance of periapical lesions and radiographic changes in the maxillary sinus.

Introduction: Nomograms are proven in "individualized risk prediction" in sarcomas and breast and prostate cancers. Incorporating immunohistochemical markers and histopathological parameters can enhance accuracy of these graphical representations of statistical predictive models concerning metastasis. D2-40, a monoclonal antibody to podoplanin (regulator of motility expressed in malignant epithelial cells), dually predicts metastatic potential of tumour by estimating the motile tumour phenotype and by detecting lymphatic vessels/density, both essential to metastasis in OSCC.

The word 'diet' usually encompasses the consumption of food that includes all the necessary nutrients required for the optimal functioning of the body. Nutritional supplements hold a supreme position due to the demanding lifestyles or medical conditions in this current era. Although medical literature has sufficient evidence exploring the effect of nutrients on general health, this systematic review aimed at specifically evaluating the role of nutritional supplements on oral health in adults.

Objective: To investigate the effect of submucosal injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on the rate of mini-implant-supported retraction, using a split-mouth randomized clinical design.
Materials And Methods: Twenty subjects of either gender between 16 and 25 years of age with bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion and crowding of <4 mm scheduled to undergo fixed mechanotherapy with the extraction of 1 premolars; were recruited for the study. Those with a periodontally compromised dentition, blood dyscrasias, smoking/alcoholism, or with a history of fixed orthodontic treatment were not considered.
