Introduction: In children, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is a commonly used material for fabrication of dental prostheses, such as obturators, removable space maintainers, habit-breaking appliances, removable orthodontic appliances, and removable partial and complete dentures. Regular cleaning of such prostheses is vital for maintaining the health of the oral tissues as well as the longevity of the prosthesis. Introduction: The wisdom teeth usually erupt at the age of 17-25 years leading to the risk of pericoronitis, caries, periodontitis, anterior crowding of teeth and cyst development. Previous studies have reported that the third molar infection is more associated with the age group of 26-35 years and is more commonly reported in the female gender.
Aims: Hence, the aim was to assess knowledge regarding third molar infections among women degree college students.

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a chronic, progressive, and fibrotic condition of the oral mucosa that carries an elevated risk of malignant transformation. We aimed to identify and validate novel genes associated with the regulation of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in OSF. Genes regulating EMT were identified through differential gene expression analysis, using a LogFC threshold of -1 and + 1 and a padj value < 0.

The present study aimed to test the efficacy of the chair-side rapid salivary C-reactive protein assay kit in differentiating oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and oral cancer from normal mucosa using whole salivary samples. In this study, unstimulated saliva samples of cases (OPMDs and oral cancer) and controls (systemically healthy subjects) were used to detect CRP levels using a novel colorimetric, quantitative rapid assay kit. Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA with a post hoc Dunn's test were applied to determine the difference in the mean and SD values between the case and control groups.

Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) is one of the factors contributing to the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD). Besides nutritional deficiency disorders, genetic polymorphism predominantly related to point mutation in the gene coding for Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR), a key enzyme in the metabolism methionine-homocysteine (Hcy) has been implicated in HHcy. PubMed survey related to MTHFR gene polymorphism in CAD retrieved 143 articles from which 20 were selected in which MTHFR gene polymorphism and Hcy were estimated.

Background: With growing evidence linking lipid profile changes to tumor development and cancer prognosis, we investigated the prognostic significance of preoperative serum total cholesterol (TC) levels in patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) undergoing surgical treatment.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study involving 310 patients with primary OSCC who received surgery at our hospital from January 2009 to December 2018. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to determine the optimal preoperative TC cutoff value, with the Youden Index employed as the optimization criterion to maximize the sum of sensitivity and specificity.
