Sustainable development through technical progress for middle-income countries (MICs) is overlooked in growth allied studies. Despite their crucial role in alleviating poverty and resource shortages, MICs encounter challenges in global economic competition, driving persistent efforts to find practical solutions. Therefore, this study explores the integrated impact of R&D expenditure and remittances on economic growth in MICs.

This study examines how "information and communication technology (ICT)" affects carbon dioxide (CO) emissions in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations asymmetrically, controlling energy consumption, its intensity, trade, and financial development following an environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) approach. It employs panel data covering 1995-2019, 2 generation unit root, Westerlund cointegration tests, nonlinear pooled mean group (PMG) estimate, and Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality check. The Westerlund test validates a long-run association among variables.

Elevated oxidative stress and hormonal imbalance have been suggested to associate with polycystic ovarian syndromes (PCOS), a causal factor for unsuccessful pregnancy outcomes and other associated complications in women. The aim of this study was to compare the oxidative stress markers and different relevant hormones between pregnant women with and without PCOS. The levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), insulin, follicle- stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), vitamin A and vitamin C were measured in 80 pregnant women with PCOS and 80 healthy pregnancies.

Endophytic fungi are microorganisms that exist almost ubiquitously inside the various tissues of living plants where they act as an important reservoir of diverse bioactive compounds. Recently, endophytic fungi have drawn tremendous attention from researchers; their isolation, culture, purification, and characterization have revealed the presence of around 200 important and diverse compounds including anticancer agents, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, immunosuppressants, and antimycotics. Many of these anticancer compounds, such as paclitaxel, camptothecin, vinblastine, vincristine, podophyllotoxin, and their derivatives, are currently being used clinically for the treatment of various cancers (e.

Background: Platinum-based drugs, including cisplatin and carboplatin, are the most active and extensively used agents for treating lung cancer. Genetic polymorphisms of DNA repair gene XPD and tumor suppressor gene TP53 are connected with alterations in enzyme activity. They may help explain interindividual differences in toxicity outcomes after platinum-based chemotherapy for lung cancer.

Inter-individual genetic makeup can trigger variability in platinum-based chemotherapeutic responses and corresponding adverse drug reactions and toxicities. Exploring the genetic causes behind these inter-individual variabilities in platinum-based chemotherapeutic responses by investigating the effects of GSTP1 (rs1695), XRCC1 (rs25487), XPC (rs2228001) and ERCC1 (rs11615) genetic polymorphisms on toxicity and therapeutic response of this treatment among Bangladeshi advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients was the aim of this study. 285 Clinically proven either stage IIIB or IV (advanced) NSCLC patients aging not less than 18 years old and receiving platinum-based chemotherapy were recruited to assess the influence of these four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on peripheral leukocytes.

Molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and progression of malignant thyroid cancers, such as follicular thyroid carcinomas (FTCs), and how these differ from benign thyroid lesions, are poorly understood. In this study, we employed network-based integrative analyses of FTC and benign follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA) lesion transcriptomes to identify key genes and pathways that differ between them. We first analysed a microarray gene expression dataset (Gene Expression Omnibus GSE82208, n = 52) obtained from FTC and FTA tissues to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a common cause of cancer death among women worldwide, so there is a pressing need to identify factors influencing OC mortality. Much OC patient clinical data is publicly accessible via the Broad Institute Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets which include patient age, cancer site, stage and subtype and patient survival, as well as OC gene transcription profiles. These allow studies correlating OC patient survival (and other clinical variables) with gene expression to identify new OC biomarkers to predict patient mortality.

The polymorphisms of invasion suppressor gene CDH1 and DNA mismatch repair gene Exo1 have been reported to play critical role in the development, tumorigenesis, and progression of several kinds of cancers including prostate cancer. This study was designed to analyze the contribution of single-nucleotide polymorphisms of the CDH1 (-160C/A) and Exo1 (K589E) to prostate cancer susceptibility in Bangladeshi population. The study included 100 prostate cancer cases and age-matched 100 healthy controls.

Three new and seven known calopins were isolated from Caloboletus radicans. The structures of the new cyclocalopins, 8-deacetylcyclocalopin B (1), cyclocalopin A-15-ol (2), and 12,15-dimethoxycyclocalopin A (3), were mainly elucidated by NMR and MS data analysis. The stereochemistry of 1-3 was assigned based on NOE correlations and coupling constants and by comparison of their CD spectra with those of similar known calopins.

LC-MS and NMR spectroscopy guided metabolic profiling and dereplication of a crude extract obtained from the fermentation of a marine-derived bacterium, Bacillus subtilis, followed by chromatographic isolation yielded two new cyclic-lipotetrapeptides, bacilotetrins A (1) and B (2). Based on extensive 1D and 2D NMR and high-resolution ESIMS data analysis, the structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated, revealing the unique structures of these lipopeptides consisting of three leucines and a glutamic acid residue cyclized with a lipophilic 3-hydroxy fatty acid. The absolute stereochemistries at selected stereocenters in 1 and 2 were assigned by chemical derivatization and comparison to literature data.

This short communication provides insights into water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for homeless people through a scoping study conducted in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It investigates homeless access to WASH through the lens of a rights-based approach. It demonstrates that homeless people's denial of their right to WASH reflects their marginal position in society and an unequal distribution of power and opportunities.
