Mouse models incorporating inducible Cre-ERT2/LoxP recombination coupled with sensitive fluorescent reporter lines are being increasingly used to track cell lineages in vivo. In this study we use two inducible reporter strains, Ai9iCol2a1 (Ai9×Col2a1-creERT2) to track contribution of chondrogenic progenitors during bone regeneration in a closed fracture model and Ai9i UBC (Ai9×UBC-creERT2) to examine methods for inducing localized recombination. By comparing with Ai9 littermate controls as well as inducible reporter mice not dosed with tamoxifen, we revealed significant leakiness of the CreERT2 system, particularly in the bone marrow of both lines.

Within the framework of the development of a novel lignocellulose biorefinery concept alkaline polyol pulping (AlkaPolP) of Pinus sylvestris was performed at different alkali concentrations. The obtained experimental data were used to develop simple mathematical models that allow the prediction of product yields and properties in dependence on a single parameter combining the effects of time, temperature and catalyst concentration. For this purpose the usual approach expressing the pulping severity R0 had to be complemented by the alkali concentration resulting in a modified severity factor R₀(').

Many important decisions require strategic sophistication. We examine experimentally whether teams act more strategically than individuals. We let individuals and teams make choices in simple games, and also elicit first- and second-order beliefs.

The elementary vapor-phase reaction between Cl atoms and HCHO has been studied by ab initio methods. Calculations at the MP2, MP3, MP4(SDTQ), CCSD, CCSD(T), and MRD-CI levels of theory show that the reaction is characterized by a low electronic barrier; excluding the effects of spin-orbit splitting in Cl, our best estimate at the MRD-CI/aug-cc-pVTZ//RHF-RCCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory predicts a Born-Oppenheimer barrier height of 0.7 kJ mol-1.

The electronic spectra of chloroformic acid ClCOOH and formic acid HCOOH are computed in large-scale multireference configuration interaction (MRD-CI) calculations. The computed spectrum of formic acid is in reasonable agreement with prior calculations and experimental data. The first electronic transition of ClCOOH is computed at 6.
