Context: Odontogenic cysts and tumours are a wide array of complex pathological entities ranging from mild indolent to aggressive detrimental in nature, which occur as a result of anomalous alterations in normal odontogenesis. Hence, these odontogenic lesions need to be evaluated extensively by using potential immunohistochemical markers.

Aim: To evaluate and compare the expression of podoplanin, a lymphoendothelial IHC marker in odontogenic cysts and odontogenic tumours to determine their proliferative potential.

Aim: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the expression of stathmin in different histological grades and tumor, node, metastasis (TNM) staging of Oral carcinoma and various grades of oral dysplasia. The study also aims at observing the stathmin expression with respect to lymph node metastasis.

Materials And Methods: A total of 90 histopathologically confirmed tissue sections were acquired, of which 30 sections of oral dysplasia, 30 oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and 30 normal tissue sections were stained immunohistochemically with stathmin.

Aim: The aim of the study is to compare the push-out bond strength of bioceramic and epoxy sealers after using various final irrigants.

Materials And Methods: Hundred single-rooted teeth were divided into two groups ( = 50) according to the sealer used: Group A: Bio C (bioceramic sealer), Group B: Dia-Proseal (epoxy sealer). Each group was subdivided into five subgroups ( = 10) according to the final irrigation protocol: Group A1 and B1 - 5% glycolic acid (GA), Group A2 and B2 - 17% GA, Group A3 and B3 - 0.

The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy, specificity and sensitivity of four commonly used methods of dental age estimation in a sample of south Indian adolescents and young adults aged between 14 and 30 years, with an age threshold of 18 years, using receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) and the area under the curve (AUC). A total of 1070 orthopantomograms (535 males and 535 females) of adolescents and young adults of south Indian origin were collected retrospectively and interpreted. The effectiveness of each method was evaluated by using sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), likelihood ratios (LR+ and LR-) and AUC.

Third molars are one of the few biological markers available for age estimation in juveniles, especially for the estimation of the 18-year-age threshold. Literature has indicated that impaction has an influence on the development of third molars, which could possibly result in age misclassifications. The present study is intended to identify an alternative cut-off value of the third molar maturity index (I3M) in impacted mandibular third molars and also to evaluate its applicability in estimating the major (≥ 18 years)/minor (< 18 years) status.

Introduction: The treatment of dental tissues before adhesive restorative procedures is an important step in the bonding protocol and determines the clinical success of restorations.

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of diode laser on the shear bond strength of one- and two-step self-etch (SE) adhesives to dentin when the laser is applied over the adhesives before photopolymerization.

Methodology: About 20 freshly extracted noncarious intact maxillary premolars were collected, and the buccal and lingual surfaces of the tooth were ground with the help of diamond disk under water coolant till dentin was exposed.

Forensic age estimation, after completion of third molar mineralization, regressive features such as apposition of secondary dentin, which is seen as narrowing of the pulp space in the radiographs, can be used as an alternative. In the present study, we explored the radiographic visibility of the root pulp of mandibular first molars using stage classification of Olze et al. (Int J Legal Med 124(3):183-186, 2010) in a sample of 901 orthopantomograms (404 males and 497 females) of south Indian origin with age ranging from 14 to 22 years.

Background: Langerhans cells (LCs) are immunocompetent cells resident within oral mucosa which, together with intraepithelial lymphocytes, play a role in mucosal defence. LCs play a role in the pathogenesis of Oral lichen planus (OLP), a chronic mucocutaneous disorder thought to result from cell-mediated immune damage. In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), LCs are thought to present tumour antigens to the lymphocytes.
