A novel approach is introduced for the reliable prediction of PUF-air partition coefficients of organic compounds, which can determine the environmental fate of organic compounds during interactions with air, soil, and water. The biggest accessible measured data of PUF-air partition coefficients for 170 chemicals are used to develop and test the novel model. In comparison to available quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) methods for the prediction of PUF-air partition coefficients that need complex descriptors, the here used descriptors are simpler.

Individual nanoparticle application has been documented to promote plant production; however, whether co-application of two nanoparticles (NPs) is more sustainable and significantly promotes plant production is unclear. Herein, foliar co-applications of two NPs or their conventional fertilizer forms on the growth, micronutrient (copper and zinc) enrichment, primary productivity, and essential oil (EO) production in a medicinal annual, dragonhead (Dracocephalum moldavica L.), were investigated.

Background: We compared Fakhravac and BBIBP-Corv2 vaccines in a phase III trial.

Method: We conducted a multicenter, parallel-group, active-control, non-inferiority clinical trial with pragmatic considerations assessing the safety and efficacy of Fakhravac and BBIBP-Corv2 vaccines. We started with two randomized double-blind arms and added two non-randomized open-label arms (based on participant preference) because of slow recruitment.

In the present work, a dual-energy X-ray radiography system was simulated using MCNPX code. Then, material discrimination curves for graphite, aluminum, steel, and lead materials were obtained using four algorithms, including log-log, R-T, r-θ, and α-α. The results show that R-T, r-θ, and α-α algorithms have better performance.

Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have attracted much attention in recent years due to their structure predictability, recognition specificity, and universal application, as well as robustness, simplicity, and cheapness. In this study, firstly, the pre-polymerization process of molecularly imprinted polymer of dipicolinic acid (DPA) was simulated by molecular dynamics. Then, the appropriate functional monomer molecule for printing was selected and its intermolecular bond with the DPA molecule was evaluated.

Bacterial cellulose-based composites as vehicles for dermal and transdermal drug delivery: A review.

Int J Biol Macromol

July 2023

Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Malek-Ashtar University of Technology, Tehran 1774-15875, Iran. Electronic address:

In recent years, a significant amount of drugs have been taken orally, which are not as effective as desired. To solve this problem, bacterial cellulose-based dermal/transdermal drug delivery systems (BC-DDSs) with unique properties such as cell compatibility, hemocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, and the ability to encapsulate various therapeutic agents with the controlled release have been introduced. A BC-dermal/transdermal DDS reduces first-pass metabolism and systematic side effects while improving patient compliance and dosage effectiveness by controlling drug release through the skin.

In the present study, by adding graphene to a photoconductive photodetector with a niobium pentoxide (NbO) absorber layer and exploiting the photogating effect, the responsivity of the photodetector is significantly improved. In this photodetector, the NbO layer detects the light, and the graphene improves the responsivity based on the photogating effect. The photocurrent and the percentage ratio of the photocurrent to dark current of the NbO photogating photodetector are compared with those of the corresponding photoconductive photodetector.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), an anionic and nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan, is the main structural component of various tissues and plays an important role in various biological processes. Given the promising properties of HA, such as high cellular compatibility, moisture retention, antiaging, proper interaction with cells, and CD44 targeting, HA can be widely used extensively in drug delivery, tissue engineering, wound healing, and cancer therapy. HA can obtain from animal tissues and microbial fermentation, but its applications depend on its molecular weight.

In everyday life, electrical devices are the primary sources of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMF), and the human body may be a great conductor of these fields. We chose alpha band power, especially at 10 Hz frequency, due to its prior beneficial role in memory. The purpose was to clarify whether there is a relationship between ELF-EMF exposure and cognitive deficits in rats, clinical signs, behavioral analysis, and the impact of ELF-EMF during different times of exposure on neuroplasticity via the expression of BDNF.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most frequent degenerative central nervous system disorders affecting older adults. Dopaminergic neuron failure in the substantia nigra is a pathological sign connected with the motor shortfall of PD. Due to their low teratogenic and adverse effect potential, medicinal herbs have emerged as a promising therapy option for preventing and curing PD and other neurodegenerative disorders.
