Context: Identification of early invasion in vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia 3 (VIN 3) and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 3 (CIN 3) may be difficult with the use of routine hematoxylin-eosin staining. Presence of obscuring inflammation and tangential tissue sectioning are the most common diagnostic pitfalls.
Objective: To examine the utility of double immunostaining for cytokeratin-collagen IV or cytokeratin-laminin in the detection of early invasion in VIN 3 and CIN 3.

Interictal depression is common in patients with epilepsy and it significantly impacts quality of life. Previous studies indicate that lamotrigine may have antidepressant properties. Thirteen adults with uncontrolled partial seizures and concomitant depression were evaluated using measures of depression [Montgomery and Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and the MMPI Depression Scale] and anxiety [Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI)] to test the effects of lamotrigine on mood.

Cortical dysgenesis (CD) describes a wide spectrum of brain anomalies that involve abnormal development of the cerebral cortex. There is a strong association between CD and epilepsy, and it comprises a significant proportion of children and adults whose epilepsy cannot be controlled with medications. There has been intense effort to define the relationship between CD and epilepsy so that more effective therapies can be devised.
