The purpose of this paper is to investigate the transmission dynamics of a fractional-order mathematical model of COVID-19 including susceptible ( ), exposed ( ), asymptomatic infected ( ), symptomatic infected ( ), and recovered ( ) classes named model, using the Caputo fractional derivative. Here, model describes the effect of asymptomatic and symptomatic transmissions on coronavirus disease outbreak. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are studied with the help of Schaefer- and Banach-type fixed point theorems.

Triple-layered composite plates are created by joining three composite layers using shear connectors. These layers, which are assumed to be always in contact and able to move relatively to each other during deformation, could be the same or different in geometric dimensions and material. They are applied in various engineering fields such as ship-building, aircraft wing manufacturing, etc.

Malaysia is facing an increasing trend in industrial solid waste generation due to industrial development. Thus, there is a paramount need in taking practical actions and measurements to move toward sustainable industrial waste management. The main aim of this study is to assess practicing solid waste minimization by manufacturing firms.

Phosphanegold(I) thiolates, PhPAu[SC(OR)=NPh], R=Me (1), Et (2) and iPr (3), were previously shown to be significantly cytotoxic toward HT-29 cancer cells and to induce cell death by both intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic pathways whereby 1 activated the p73 gene, and each of 2 and 3 activated p53; 2 also caused apoptotic cell death via the c-Jun N-terminal kinase/mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway. Apoptosis pathways have been further evaluated by mitochondrial cytochrome c measurements and annexin V screening, confirming apoptotic pathways of cell death. Cell cycle analysis showed the majority of treated HT-29 cells were arrested at the G/M checkpoint after 24h; results of both assays were confirmed by changes in populations of relevant genes (PCR array analysis).

Although the idea of bacteria causing different types of cancer has exploded about century ago, the potential mechanisms of carcinogenesis is still not well established. Many reports showed the involvement of M. hominis in the development of prostate cancer, however, mechanistic approach for growth and development of prostate cancer has been poorly understood.

Cancer has long been assumed to be a genetic disease. However, recent evidence supports the enigmatic connection of bacterial infection with the growth and development of various types of cancers. The cause and mechanism of the growth and development of prostate cancer due to Mycoplasma hominis remain unclear.

When recombineering bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs), it is common practice to design the ends of the donor molecule with 50 bp of homology specifying its insertion site. We demonstrate that desired recombinants can be produced using intermolecular homologies as short as 15 bp. Although the use of shorter donor end regions decreases total recombinants by several fold, the frequency of recombinants with correctly inserted donor molecules was high enough for easy detection by simple polymerase chain reaction (PCR) screening.

A series of ternary copper(II)-1,10-phenanthroline complexes with glycine and methylated glycine derivatives, [Cu(phen)(aa)(H(2)O)]NO(3)·xH(2)O 1-4 (amino acid (aa): glycine (gly), 1; DL: -alanine (DL: -ala), 2; 2,2-dimethylglycine (C-dmg), 3; sarcosine (sar), 4), were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, elemental analysis, electrospray ionization-mass spectra (ESI-MS), UV-visible spectroscopy and molar conductivity measurement. The determined X-ray crystallographic structures of 2 and 3 show each to consist of distorted square pyramidal [Cu(phen)(aa)(H(2)O)](+) cation, a nitrate counter anion, and with or without lattice water, similar to previously reported structure of [Cu(phen)(gly)(H(2)O)]NO(3)·1½H(2)O. It is found that 1-4 exist as 1:1 electrolytes in aqueous solution, and the cationic copper(II) complexes are at least stable up to 24 h.

The effect of mild hypothermic (32 degrees C) conditions on cell growth, cell-cycle progress, and antibody production of hybridoma C2E7 cells was investigated in the present study. The growth of hybridoma cells was slower during the mild hypothermic condition compared to that at 37 degrees C; this led to about 10% decrease in maximum viable cell density and volumetric antibody productivity. However, under mild hypothermic growth conditions, the culture viability was substantially improved and the specific antibody productivity was enhanced compared to that at 37 degrees C.

A modified method for the rapid isolation of specific ligands to whole virus particles is described. Biopanning against cymbidium mosaic virus was carried out with a commercial 12-mer random peptide display library. A solution phase panning method was devised using streptavidin-coated superparamagnetic beads.
