The species is a mycosis previously classified as a non- species. The increased number of naganishial infections occurs predominantly in immunocompromised conditions, especially in people living with HIV with low CD4 cell count, primary immunodeficiencies, and iatrogenic immunosuppression. The lungs can serve as the primary site of infection, leading to various pulmonary manifestations.

Unlabelled: The deficit in cognitive function is more concerning in methamphetamine (MA) users. The cognitive deficit was suspected to be the consequence of neuroinflammation-induced neurological dysregulation. In addition, activating the key enzyme in the tryptophan metabolic pathway by pro-inflammatory cytokines results in metabolite toxicity, further generating cognitive impairments.

The genus has not only been recognised to be one of the mega-diverse plant genera but also as one found to comprise many undiscovered species. In particular, the increase of extensive field surveys in tropical regions of Southeast Asia has added to the discovery of many new species that are often found only in a few localities. In this study, the new taxon Begoniafimbristipulasubsp.

β-Thalassemia is characterized by ineffective erythropoiesis leading to chronic anemia. Thus, increased iron absorption from the duodenum and via blood transfusions is required to maintain normal blood hemoglobin (Hb) levels and iron chelators in the removal of excessive iron. Certain agents are also needed for the improvement of stress erythropoiesis and iron dysregulation.

Yet, electrophilic halogenations of the same alkynols and their alkoxy, ester and halo derivatives are inconspicuous. This review on the halogenation reactions of propargyl alcohols and derivatives intends to give a perspective from its humble direct halogenation beginning to the present involving metal catalysis.

Seed size is a key trait for understanding and predicting ecological processes in a plant community. In a tropical forest, trees and lianas are major components driving ecosystem function and biogeochemical processes. However, seed ecological research on both components remains limited, particularly phylogenetic patterns and relationships with other traits.

A quantum chemical investigation of the stability of compounds with identical formulas was carried out on 23 classes of compounds made of C, N, P, O and S atoms as core structures and halogens H, F, Cl, Br and I as substituents. All possible structures were generated and investigated by quantum mechanical methods. The prevalence of a formula in which its configuration, conformation or isomer is the most stable form is calculated and discussed.

The motives for and the different types and consequences of COVID-19-related stigmatization remain underexplored in Bangladesh. Therefore, this study examined how the COVID-19 stigmatization process is interlinked with transmission flow.

Iron fortifications are used for the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia; however, iron dosing may cause oxidative damage to the gut lumen. Thai Sinlek rice is abundant in iron and contains phytochemicals. We aimed at evaluating the effect of an iron-rice (IR) hydrolysate drink (100 mL/serving) on neurological function, red cell indices and iron status in elders.

In the present study, we developed a genus-specific rGroEL IgM-ELISA assay for use in screening diagnosis of suspected leptospirosis among acute undifferentiated febrile illness patients during acute fever. The diagnostic accuracies of the rGroEL IgM-ELISA, commercial Panbio IgM-ELISA, and Virion-Serion Classic IgG-ELISA were evaluated using 133 Thai leptospirosis sera and 210 controls. Sensitivities were 91.

Thrombospondin repeats (TSR) are important peptide domains present in the sequences of many extracellular and transmembrane proteins with which a variety of ligands interact. In this study, we characterized HdTSR domains in the ADAMTS3 protein of Thai abalone, Haliotis diversicolor, based on the transcriptomic analysis of its mantle tissues. PCR amplification and localization studies demonstrated the existence of HdTSR transcript and protein in H.

species have been used as a typical component in food and folk medicine in Asia for centuries. However, little is known regarding the bioactivity and genotoxicity of the recently identified (FD), an indigenous plant of the tropical evergreen rain forest. FD is unique from other species because of its highly sought-after red-brown latex.

Herein, we introduced a new chemosensor, bis-BODIPY linked-triazole based on catechol (BODIPY-OO) prepared by bridging two units of BODIPY fluorophore/triazole binding group with a catechol unit. A solution of this compound displayed 4- and 2-fold enhancements in fluorescence intensity after adding a mole equivalent amount of Ag and Hg ions in methanol media, respectively. H NMR titrations of BODIPY-OO with Ag and Hg suggested that the triazole was involved in the recognition process.

Coffee is rich in caffeine (CF), chlorogenic acid (CGA) and phenolics. Differing types of coffee beverages and brewing procedures may result in differences in total phenolic contents (TPC) and biological activities. Inflammation and increases of platelet activation and aggregation can lead to thrombosis.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne virus that causes arthralgic fever. Fibroblast-like synoviocytes play a key role in joint damage in inflammatory arthritides and can additionally serve as target cells for CHIKV infection. To gain a better understanding of CHIKV-induced arthralgia, the interaction between CHIKV and synoviocytes was investigated at the protein level.

Yellow head disease (YHD) is an infectious disease of Penaeus monodon which is caused by the yellow head virus (YHV). YHV infection invariably leads to 100% shrimp mortality within 3-5 days. Currently, an effective method to prevent or cure shrimp from YHV infection has not been elucidated.

Objectives: We have investigated the efficacy of mono- and combined therapy with green tea extract (GTE) in mobilizing redox iron, scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS), and improving insulin production in iron-loaded pancreatic cells.
Methods: Rat insulinoma pancreatic β-cells were iron-loaded using culture medium supplemented with either fetal bovine serum or ferric ammonium citrate and treated with various doses of GTE for epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) equivalence and in combination with iron chelators. Cellular iron, ROS, and secretory insulin were measured.

Background: The food industry can influence individual and population level food consumption behaviours, shape public preferences and interfere with government policy on obesity prevention and NCDs. This paper identifies the Corporate Political Activity (CPA) of major food companies in Thailand which relate to obesity and NCDs.
Methods: Using the INFORMAS framework to classify CPA, we reviewed publicly available information by 12 food companies between August 2011 and July 2016 in order to identify, analyse and classify the CPA contents.

Iron overload in patients with β-thalassemia can cause oxidative organ dysfunction. Iron chelation along with antioxidant supplementation can ameliorate such complications and prolong lives. Green tea extract (GTE) rich in epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) exhibits anti-oxidation and iron chelation properties in β-knockout thalassemic (BKO) mice diagnosed with iron overload.

The world's largest terrestrial animals (megafauna) can play profound roles in seed dispersal. Yet, the term 'megafauna' is often used to encompass a diverse range of body sizes and physiologies of, primarily, herbivorous animals. To determine the extent to which these animals varied in their seed dispersal effectiveness (SDE), we compared the contribution of different megafauna for the large-fruited Platymitra macrocarpa (Annonaceae), in a tropical evergreen forest in Thailand.

Its seeds can be pressed for oil production or roasted and served as a snack, while the dried leaves can be used to make a kind of tea. Although the oil from the cold-pressed seeds has been proven to be safe for human consumption, little information is known about the other parts of the plant regarding safety.
