Objectives: To evaluate the cost-utility of botulinum toxin A (BoNT-A) for treating upper limb (UL) and lower limb (LL) post-stroke spasticity.
Design: Using a Markov model, adopting a societal perspective and a lifetime horizon with a 3% annual discount rate, the cost-utility analysis was conducted to compare BoNT-A combined with standard of care (SoC) with SoC alone. Costs, utilities, transitional probabilities and treatment efficacy were derived from 5-year retrospective data from tertiary hospitals and meta-analysis.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in children who underwent congenital cardiac surgery (CCS) by using a pre- and postoperative hearing test, a conventional audiometry, an extended high-frequency audiometry (HFA) or auditory steady-state response (ASSR), and distortion-product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE).
Study Design: This prospective study enrolled children with CCS in Siriraj Hospital, Thailand, between 2019 and 2023. Conventional audiometry including HFA or ASSR and DPOAE were performed pre- and postoperatively.

Diffuse oesophageal leiomyomatosis is a rare benign disease in the paediatric population. This report highlights a recent clinical case, together with a narrative review of current world literature. An early middle childhood girl with recurrent lower respiratory tract infections for 2 years was noted to have a retrocardiac lesion on chest X-ray, later confirmed to be an oesophageal mass on CT imaging.

Tetralogy of Fallot is the most prevalent cyanotic congenital heart disease, requiring lifelong multimodality non-invasive cardiac imaging, such as echocardiography, cardiothoracic computed tomography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. As imaging techniques continuously evolve and are gradually integrated into clinical practice, there is a critical need to update multimodality imaging protocols. Over the last two decades, cardiothoracic computed tomography imaging techniques have advanced remarkably, significantly enhancing its role in evaluating patients with tetralogy of Fallot.

Background: Tobacco industry denormalisation is a key strategy recommended by the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control as it is associated with reducing smoking behaviours and positively influencing public and policymakers' opinion towards tobacco control. However, studies of awareness of tobacco industry tactics among public health players and policymakers in low-income and middle-income countries are limited.
Methods: We conducted an online survey of individuals who had been involved in tobacco control in Thailand.

Objectives: X chromosome has been considered as a risk factor for SLE, which is a prototype of autoimmune diseases with a significant sex difference (female:male ratio is around 9:1). Our study aimed at exploring the association of genetic variants in X chromosome and investigating the influence of trisomy X in the development of SLE.
Methods: X chromosome-wide association studies were conducted using data from both Thai (835 patients with SLE and 2995 controls) and Chinese populations (1604 patients with SLE and 3324 controls).

Background/aims: Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease is a crucial global health concern. Studies have shown that metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease patients are at higher risk of severe coronavirus disease 2019. However, there are no precise measures of the correlation between the degree of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease fibrosis and coronavirus disease 2019 severity.

Anomalous pulmonary venous connections represent a heterogeneous group of congenital heart diseases in which a part or all pulmonary venous flow drains directly or indirectly into the right atrium. Clinically, anomalous pulmonary venous connections may be silent or have variable consequences, including neonatal cyanosis, volume overload and pulmonary arterial hypertension due to the left-to-right shunt. Anomalous pulmonary venous connections are frequently associated with other congenital cardiac defects and their accurate diagnosis is crucial for treatment planning.

Screening for colorectal cancer (CRC) is effective in reducing CRC related mortality. Current screening methods include endoscopy based and biomarker based approaches. This guideline is a joint official statement of the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE) and the Asian Pacific Society of Digestive Endoscopy (APSDE), developed in response to the increasing use of, and accumulating supportive evidence for the role of, non-invasive biomarkers for the diagnosis of CRC and its precursor lesions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAsthma, rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis (AD) are interrelated clinical phenotypes that partly overlap in the human interactome. The concept of "one-airway-one-disease," coined over 20 years ago, is a simplistic approach of the links between upper- and lower-airway allergic diseases. With new data, it is time to reassess the concept.

Introduction: This study quantifies the longitudinal association between e-cigarette use and subsequent conventional cigarette initiation and vice versa among Thai youths.
Methods: Data from a longitudinal survey of 6045 Thai seventh grade students with baseline in 2019 and the 12-month follow-up in 2020 were analysed using complex survey multivariate logistic regressions to assess whether e-cigarette use was associated with subsequent cigarette smoking (ever, current and dual product users at follow-up) among baseline never smokers.
Results: Consistent with prior findings from other countries, among those who had never smoked cigarettes at baseline, ever e-cigarette users were more likely to try cigarette smoking (adjusted OR 4.

An intertransverse process block (ITPB) is a paraspinal thoracic nerve block technique, where the local anesthetic (LA) is injected into the thoracic intertransverse tissue complex posterior to the superior costotransverse ligament (SCTL). Although an ITPB can be ultrasound-guided, it is performed using surrogate bony landmarks without even identifying the SCTL. This report describes a transverse ultrasound imaging technique to identify the retro-SCTL space and perform an ITPB with a retro-SCTL space injection, in 2 patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.
