Background: About 25% of patients with acute ischemic stroke have lacunar infarct on follow-up imaging. In this secondary analysis from the AcT (Alteplase Compared With Tenecteplase) trial, we assessed if there is variation in safety or efficacy of intravenous thrombolysis by infarct type in patients with no visible occlusion. We also determined if this effect differed between tenecteplase and alteplase.

PFIC-3 is caused by pathogenic genetic variants of the ATP-binding cassette 4 (ABCB4) gene with variable inheritance; the most common is autosomal recessive. We present two cases of PFIC-3 with genetic testing confirming a novel genetic variant in ABCB4 with homozygous genotype c.

The taxonomy of the pill millipede genus Verhoeff, 1906, which is restricted to Indochina and currently comprises six described species, is refined and updated. An integrative taxonomic approach was employed that combines morphological examination with DNA barcoding using the cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene for species identification and delineation. The first objective was to confirm the identity of (Pocock, 1889), a charismatic species known as the "candy pill millipede" due to its vivid coloration, based on specimens collected near the type locality in Myanmar.

Heart health screenings, including blood pressure, fasting blood glucose (FBG), and blood cholesterol screenings, can help identify cardiovascular disease risk. Evidence on heart health screenings among diverse immigrant groups is still limited.

Percutaneous liver biopsy is essential for diagnosing hepatic amyloidosis. Post biopsy hemorrhage is unusual but can occur. The potential for bleeding can result from various factors, such as the deposition of amyloid in the hepatic parenchyma or vessel wall, deficiencies in coagulation factors, hyperfibrinolysis, and platelet dysfunction.

The treatment and regeneration of bone defects, especially tumor-induced defects, is an issue in clinical practice and remains a major challenge for bone substitute material invention. In this research, a composite material of biomimetic bone-like apatite based on trace element co-doped apatite (Ca M (PO)(CO)(OH); M = trace elements of Mg, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Ni, Mo, Sr and BO ; THA)-integrated-biocompatible magnetic Mn-Zn ferrite ((Mn, Zn)FeO nanoparticles, BioMags) called THAiBioMags was prepared a co-precipitation method. Its characteristics, , physical properties, hyperthermia performance, ion/drug delivery, were investigated using osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and using zebrafish.

Carbon dioxide (CO) photoreduction is an intriguing approach that converts CO into high-value substances with the assistance of a photocatalyst. Key to effective photoreduction is to promote the interaction of photo-induced holes and a sacrificial reagent (SCR), separating the holes from photoelectrons and enhancing the rate of the subsequent product generation. Methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and water SCRs were tested for their ability to assist a copper-doped sodium dititanate nanosheets/graphene oxide heterostructure (CTGN) in CO photoreduction.

Background: To determine the prognostic value of left atrial strain (LAS) using cardiac magnetic resonance for predicting death, heart failure, and ischemic stroke in patients with known or suspected coronary artery disease with preserved left ventricular systolic function and no prior history of ischemic stroke, heart failure, or atrial fibrillation.
Methods And Results: This retrospective cohort analysis included patients referred for stress cardiac magnetic resonance or myocardial viability studies between September 2017 and December 2019. Patients with impaired left ventricular systolic function (<50%) or a history of atrial fibrillation, stroke, or heart failure were excluded.

This study involved designing, synthesizing, and evaluating the protective potential of compounds on microglial cells (BV-2 cells) and neurons (SH-SY5Y cells) against cell death induced by Aβ. It aimed to identify biologically specific activities associated with anti-Aβ aggregation and understand their role in oxidative stress initiation and modulation of proinflammatory cytokine expression. Actively designed compounds CE5, CA5, PE5, and PA5 showed protective effects on BV-2 and SH-SY5Y cells, with cell viability ranging from 60.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) commonly coexist, resulting in adverse health and economic consequences such as declining ventricular function, heightened mortality, and reduced quality of life. However, limited information exists on the impact of COVID-19 on AF patients that hospitalized for HF.
Methods: We analyzed the 2020 U.

Introduction: Cardiovascular and noncardiovascular comorbidities have been recognized as predictors of clinical response in patients receiving cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). However, data on vitamin D as a predictor of CRT response are conflicting.
Method: We identified studies from MEDLINE and Embase databases, searching from inception to May 2024, to investigate the association between 25-OH vitamin D levels before CRT implantation and outcomes.
Introduction: The cardiac pacemaker is indicated for treating various types of bradyarrhythmia, providing lifelong cardiovascular benefits. Recent data showed that COVID-19 has impacted procedure numbers and led to adverse long-term outcomes in patients with cardiac pacemakers. However, the impact of COVID-19 infection on the in-hospital outcome of patients undergoing conventional pacemaker implantation remains unclear.

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), an epithelial biliary tract malignancy, is a significant health concern in the Greater Mekong Subregion, particularly in northeastern Thailand. Prior to the development of advanced stages, CCA is typically asymptomatic, thereby limiting treatment options and chemotherapeutic effectiveness. Ursolic acid (UA), a triterpenoid derived from plants, was previously discovered to inhibit CCA cell growth through induction of apoptosis.

Background And Aims: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic and led to increased mortality and morbidity. Vaccines against the etiologic agent; severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) were approved for emergency use on different platforms. In the early phase of the pandemic, Thai healthcare workers (HCWs) received CoronaVac, an inactivated vaccine, as the first vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, followed by ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, a viral vector-based vaccine, or BNT162b2, an mRNA vaccine, as a booster dose.

Aim: Liver transplantation (LT) is essential due to its curative efficacy, but liver-graft shortages have limited its widespread application. Bridging locoregional therapy (LRT) before LT has been performed to prevent tumor progression, and a recent literature review revealed that it is associated with a nonsignificant trend toward better survival outcomes. However, much more information on bridging therapy has become available since then.
